  • Judging by the dates we see glimpses of, these titles were filmed in 1971, and they were still being used as late as 1981

  • This Calender theme tune is called Trumpets and Trombones; can anybody help by posting details like the composers name and the music publisher etc? Would be very grateful!

  • @ROY4196 "Trumpets And Trombones" is by Gerhard Narholz I believe

  • Blaming an itv region for covering your area when you dont want it to is like blaming north korea's people for an horrid dictatorship. we're just biproducts of it. Still, YTV clearly did have a Leeds over Sheffield bias...and then again...WHO THE FUCK CARES!?

  • As a little kid, when this was broadcast, for some odd reason I used to think that those pieces of paper were bank notes and not days on a calendar.

  • One of the best themes for calendar.

  • @thossey I tried to email Calendar News to discover what the name of the music is in the intro. I still miss that intro to this day. Any ideas ?

  • Has anyone ever heard of the Lincolnshire Ripper? No, that's why Lincolnshire is a much better county to live in.

  • Just like old times. The thumb was always a bit scary though!

  • Arrrh, those were days, industrial action on tv, and the Yorkshire ripper on the loose.

  • that is quality.

  • Yorkshire TVs calendar was always a completely crap and amateurish programme which completely ignored Lincolnshire. Us Yellowbellies had to put up with a Yorkshire bias in their news output. Yorkshire TV is a lot better today, at least we get included!

  • Ummm. Thats why it was called YORKSHIRE TELEVISION..No Humber Bridge in those days ! Thats probably why Lincs was ignored, The name should give it away really...

  • YTV covers an area down to Norfolk, it's just until they split their news bulletins they always concentrated on Yorkshire, in fact more like West Yorkshire. They should have changed their name once they were given the Belmont transmitter in Lincolnshire though and not been so Yorkshire centric.

  • @simpson30 I'm from Lincolnshire and I completely agree, FUCK YORKSHIRE!!!

  • @gpo746 Yeah well how would you feel if you had "LIncolnshire Television" foisted upon you in 1974 like we did. If the boot was on the other foot, you'd hate it as well.

  • oh shut up,Lincolnshire is not part of Yorkshire!

  • @regentv980 Fuck off you ignorant Yorkshire twat.

  • Yep! Definately remember this one! Brilliant stuff! Such a shame YTV is but a shadow of its former self!

  • remember it well,good times

  • Wow, thought I had imagined this intro - nice one!

  • Ahhh...Austin Mitchell, Paul Dunstan, Richard Whiteley, jumpers for goalposts........

  • Don't forget Alan Hardwick and Marylyn Webb and newcomer Geoff Druett..

  • ...or i could turn over and watch Khalid Aziz on Look North....

  • @bluebus270 Liz Fox, Simon Welfare, Michael Partington ,

  • Pity no one has sent in the whole theme tune ! I`d love to hear that.

  • Incredible that it is so long now since this was the theme music of Calendar News here in the Yorkshire region. We should email Calendar petitioning it`s comeback - because all of their theme music since has been boring.
