Titus's stand-up about his screwed-up family (and the stuff that happened to him in his love life, like dating the abusive girl who punched him in the face and marrying Erin, which ended badly) is based on real events (though some names have either been changed or not mentioned to protect identities). And Titus really did have a mom named Juanita who was talented, beautiful, and a violent schizophrenic.

@Cokenijn "There's about 105 truth to any part of this." Ken Titus came to many tapings of the show and was asked how he thought about the portrayal of him as a father, and that was the answer he gave, and what wasn't show was that he didn't mind it, as long as it's funny.

That's what I read anyhow. I tried to find the source again, but I was unable to.

Christopher Titus is a huge inspiration to me.
