white/black cladding is very rare...PAS built (1) like that as a showroom model it says on syty.net faq page....this custom paint or only 1 like it? These 'trucks' are only 3700 lbs not heavy...lighter than MANY cars
@SIKMACH1 Depends - I wouldn't get one and plan on saving money :) A stock one that is looked after can be great but they are 20 years old now so it's hard to say.
This truck came fast from the factory with a turbo as stock. It had a couple of issues after 20 years or so and I made some changes to reliability which ended up meaning lots of other changes in trying to eliminate weak links.
Also, who expects an SUV or a pickup truck to beat Ferraris (Car and Driver article) and do a 1/4 in 13.2 (stock)? This truck should get deep into the 11s.
The launch in this video was at 15 psi with no alky and conservative timing.
@SerSoloDolo This platform is billed as very capable for a 1/4 mile vehicle, so I see no need for a more conventional car body. Personally, I drive a 1G Talon for the 1/4, but mad respect for the Syclone/Typhoon vehicles out of GMC.
@bmfbbmfb - I think it is rich. Not sure to be honest. The turbo was brand new so I don't think it's seals. I've also had no probs with coolant so I'm hoping it's the tune being rich at the top end.
I am with Power Brake Service, we do performance brake upgrades and we need to get ahold of any of the Typhoon, Syclone, turbo GM trucks of that era to do a video of. Turbos rob vacuum from the brake booster and we retrofit hydraulic brakes to solve that. Check out my page to see what we did with a Turbo Buick and a T-bird SC, we've done the Turbo GM trucks before, but want to do a video to show clients how to install it, please let me know of somebody in the community in Southern California.

I thought about getting a Typhoon when I was younger but decided against it. They are nice vehicles but are maintenance hogs.

I know this may sound stupid, but why would someone soup up a truck?
SerSoloDolo 4 months ago
@SerSoloDolo This is a Typhoon. It's fast, and hella fun. Why would someone "soup up" a car? The same reason someone would do the same to a truck.
shinypurplewalrus 3 months ago
@shinypurplewalrus Can't you get better performance out of a different car? Don't get me wrong, that is a bad ass truck though.

xxnissansilviaxx 4 months ago
@xxnissansilviaxx
$500 4l80e
$1500 Rebuild kit for trans
$600 labour
$400 for a new propshaft
$150 to shorten the old propshaft
$900 for the controller and harness
$1000 for the torque converer
$350 for the cross member and the adaptor for the transfer case.
All in, about $6000. It's pretty awesome though. I just need to tune it.
