@2bcng It was a real person, dressed in a long t-shirt. You will need someone to help you, but never duct tape straight onto the body. Dress in an old t-shirt that reaches to your thighs and duct-tape over that. You will cut the t-shirt off you at the end, then tape-up the cut and apply foam to hold the shape.
We used Great Foam -- but any expandable foam from a hardware shop should work for you. You do not need to fill the entire form but, when applied to the inside, the foam provides a stiffness to the dressform that keeps it's shape and makes it easier to use.

No, you don't need to fill the whole thing, but just give it a coat all over the interior. The foam hardens and holds the shape of the dressform.
The foam is messy, so remember to wear gloves and be sure to protect your clothes.
