@carleen56 All the greeks 'know' the gods existed. The muses are hiding from her, because they are made to inspire peoples song, and writing, (although there was only one muse of the arts in Greek history) they are supposed to inspire, not be seen. She wanted them to leave her alone, but they had to stay hidden, or i imagine she'd stop mid song to yell at them.
