My butt wasn't touching the seat on the drop, I thought I was going to die I was freaking out!!! And this was my first BIG roller coaster! It scared the crap out of me!
The first drop is 79 degrees.. If you are up front you literally hang there until the rest of the train starts going over... as you go over you think to yourself.. I'm getting ready to fall forward out of this car! Every hill you go over afterward nearly launches you out of your seat with the negative G's.
When I hear the name Texas Giant I think of a wooden nitro. El Toro at SFGA is much faster than this but since I've never been on this ride I guess I can't be judging
Personally I think its good that they went ahead and did this remodel. Here is why. 1 The ride was already extremly old and had many planks of wood that were starting to ddecay. Also People In my area have had to go to the hospital because of the bumpiness of the ride and them hitting there head. So we should see this as a negative thing but as a positive thing because they are determined to keep this ride going because it truly is a one of a kind classic coaster.
We will now mourn the loss of one of the greatest coasters of our time. Watch this /watch?v=HEjn7qkZ73Y&feature=related and tell me which Giant looks like more fun. If the ride was too bumpy for you, then stop riding woodies, idiots. Some of us like them better than steel coasters, and the fact that a Dinn and Summers woodie has been so heartlessly marred is both a disappointment and a damn shame.

Whereas the old giant was probably the best twisted woodie on Earth: long, fast, thrashing, and relentless, the new giant is comparatively lame: smoother, yes, but ultimately nowhere near as intense. The sense of speed and energy are diminished severely. Ironically, Six Flags castrated the giant and then adorned the front car with bull horns. Morons.

B) If it bolsters my argument, I am an active member of ACE and have ridden 178 different coasters in my lifetime, including both versions of the Giant. I love coasters and can honestly say that, IMO, the new Giant does not deliver the same thrills as the old one. C) Many (still standing) coasters have put people in hospitals. What's your point?

@jason63433 It's a hybrid, meaning it has either wood supports and steel track or steel supports with wood track. In this case it's wood supports and steel track. If you don't consider "hybrid" to be a coaster type, it would be a steel coaster. You take what the track is made of regardless of whatever the supports are.
Last time I rode the Giant, before the renovation, that damn thing beat the hell out of me!! It was a wicked rough ride!! looks so much smoother now, cant wait to get out there this spring and have a few goes at it now! Those banks looks so awesome and that drop, like 78 degrees!! im stoked!!
@clemenza1234 Man i went to Six flags today for a field trip and let me tell you the banks really are sick man they are so fine and slik. Makes for a smooth ride AND a more exciting one.
@SMGrandall Lol, I know. What I meant was, they haven't finished adding supports and railings. For example, I was down there the other day. They were STILL working on it AS the train was testing.

@SMGrandall How did you do that? The day this video was shot was the day of the commercial shoot. That was March 10th. Your comment says 6 days ago. Since then, the ride has been getting finishing construction touches such as adding more maintenance walkways and testing the teal and black trains. Not human riders. This is all well documented, as are the reviews that are all over the coaster sites. There's a favorite ride in that community and they are rating this higher than that.
@rantanamo my dad works there :P, he snuck my on and he almost got fired, i had to fly out there an i missed the shoot with the riders so i got a free ride from him
