Brazilian jujitsu is an offshoot of Judo as well. Brazilian jujitsu focuses on the Randori portion of Judo. While effective Jujitsu focuses more on combative techniques....eye gouging, biting, nerve strikes, etc. Judo style competion used to focus on rolling but Jigaro Kano felt that it focused on strength so he changed competion format to emphasize technique.I think when Kimura complimented Gracie on his ability he said that Gracies style reminded him of the old style
All you guys arguing over where this technique comes from are going to have to look back a lot further. It can be traced back at least as far as ancient pankration.
@Drbranicap I hope you don't mean this derisively. Yes, Sambo is (historically speaking) an offshoot from Judo. Judo, in turn, is an offshoot of Japanese Jujutsu. So what? They have their differences as well and the greatest thing one could to is try them all.
Thanks for posting that (and the other vids). I love the rolling turtle attacks. In this one I love to under hook hisright arm with my leg before the roll too. he ends up in a nice crucifix/choke.
HOW THE FUCK DID I GET TO THIS!!!

Every single move here is JUDO!First choke Hadaka jime(naked hand choke).
second Okuri eri jime then,Kataha jime.Followed by an arm lock called Juji gatame.
Pin is a version of Kami shiho gatame.
finaly.rolling choke is usualy called Jigoku jime(Hells choke).
Vasilii Oshchepkov.alleged father of sambo was a judo black belt under judo founder Jigoro Kano.Came back to russia and Sambo was born.
enough said.

@Drbranicap yeah, in that video it would be impossible to:
-give an example of what sambo really is
-deny that judo played a major role in creation of sambo.

nice vid,
but no one who knows groundfighting will let u grap his gi near his throat. grabbing one arm is usually more effective i think.

This is the one thing I don't like grappling. The turtle position is the worst possible position to be in a real fight.

Think that rolling choke at :30 is a bit lose with the legs.
