A salary cap isn't going to stop the Royals from spending 9 million on Kyle Farnsworth. The Twins, Marlins, Rays, Rockies, and other teams have found ways to compete with the larger market teams. A salary cap isn't really necessary. If there is a cap, you would need a floor also.
Point taken...Some teams have overcome this lack of balance over the years. However, do you believe the Yankees would be just as successful with a salary cap in place?
Hmmm... Of course not, but I do believe they would have been/be successful. They would have taken more stock into the farm like they have done in recent years and would have developed talent on top of the talent that they have developed. Thanks though man, it's good discussing with someone on youtube without being called a d-bag, asshole, retard, and actually gaining something with the conversation. Rather than being counter-productive.
Yes, I agree. It's nice to have discussions instead of arguments with people. That's why I like this Channel. Peyton's show seems to attract more positive people. I like that!
Peyton, you seem like a good kid but your analysis is pretty wrong. Yankees have a shitty farm system? Ranked 10 in AL Farm Systems by Baseball Prospectus this year right behind the Twins with number 9. This is because Cashman finally started caring about the draft when he took full control over the GM position 3 years ago. Yankees developed Jeter, Pettitte, Posada, and Rivera. Not to mention Bernie Williams too. That whole bullpen is pretty much home-grown. Gomez for Hardy is a steal though...
I'm going to argue that they did not 'buy' A-Rod. They traded for him, then he opted out, they re-signed him. So technically, they used their resources from their farm system to acquire A-Rod in the first place. Let's also not forget that when the Yankees spend more money, they give money to the other 'small market' teams in baseball because of the luxury tax.
ahh good point, forgot about that, im just not a big fan of the fact that he makes more than two entire teams make. anyways, im not a big fan of the luxury tax argument, but its alright... i kindve wish all sports had salary caps like hockey just because it keeps the players from having these exorbitant contracts. as long as the mets suck im happy
