What he is really means to say is
The universe is so hostile but the Earth is perfect for life, so it's right here. And if the Earth is destroyed by something it's judgement day so this video prooves nothing.
This is very much taken out of context. The rest of the clip that this was taken from isn't out to disprove god but rather discourage people from using God as an excuse to end their research or wonder of the universe. The way this is presented has very little to do with the actual purpose of the talk Neil Tyson actually gave.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

@TheCrocoduck Tyson wasn't really talking about Muslims specifically, but the silly notion of I.D. He actually did talk about islam/the middle east in this lecture. So your title is a little misleading.
@dob0jka 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, or 100 sextillion x 3 is the number of stars in the known universe. Out of these, are you saying that the probability of there being at least ONE SINGLE PLANET that COULD house life, and then took 3 BILLION YEARS to get past the most basic unit of life (bacteria) is impossible? So impossible, that, you justify a god that in all its supposed infinite wisdom sent down a measely BOOK? To the middle east? YOU haven't proven shit. Nothing.
@dob0jka we have the cold/heat, lack of water, too much water, lightning, tornadoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes.. did you forget about those? ;)
@Saunga525 I agree in that this doesn't seem directed at islam. However, muslims very often do point to the "perfectness" of the world to explain how it must have a creator.
@Saunga525 It only has to do with that one specific argument that religious people make(in this case, the muslim at the beginning of the video), but ALL religious people use that argument, not just muslims. Most of the same religious arguments are used over and over by other religions.
@Saunga525 It is a counter argument to a particular instance of a fine tuning apologetic put forward by a particular Muslim but which is as common an Islamic apologetic as the first cause argument - that it what it has to do with Islam.
I guess I didn't know he was an atheist. I guess now I know.
Look, folks: We can not know all there is to know, so therefore we cannot fully determine what is false and what is not. We /can/ solve quite a few questions by adopting a system of organizing the truths we know, and the truths we haven't yet proven by categorizing them together into a belief system whether it be Christianity or Atheism or "Bob-ism". Unfortunately, we shield these beliefs with a good measure of head-strong resolve.
@Gokugogeta All he said about existence of life in any form basically can be replaced by one word: "miracle". Science doesn't like miracles, but they are not a problem for the God.
@SOKOLEK eh... first high IQ don't make you smart. The test i have done for "fun" said that i have around 115 IQ. But thats just one little bit intelligence. Then we got EQ. Then we got some other factors that you have to count in intelligence. And "miracle" and god is not the samething. IMO i like to say that miracle is just a sound you make when something with little chance happens.
@obblan I have tell you something. Christians have more rigid and more demanding definition of miracle. Christians wouldn't call such event a miracle, but rather "low probabilty event".
@SOKOLEK lol silly man. I am studying biology and the human body because i believe it is a curios and beautiful thing. You do not need to be religious to see that. Also, i have a family who i love and they love me back, suicide is a very selfish act, because it is such a devastating thing for a family to go through. So no thank you. I love my life and try to get the most of it because it will be my only one.
@publiusdg You can commit suicide with all your family members. Do you realy want them to live in "shit-hole universe"? Human body is a part of universe and you just started to appreciate your body and you familie when I talk about your death. You are such a looser full of crap that you can not stand up to your ideology. Don't worry, because your ideology is full of crap too because you insult God calling universe a shit-hole. I consider universe beautiful and logic. What did you create? -crap.
@SOKOLEK 1st. I'm not a fucking maniac to kill my whole family. Do you realize how outrages it is what you are suggesting?
2nd. This shit hole universe is reality, and who ever said that something can't be beautiful and defective? It gives me enough reason to consider you didn't even paid attention to anything Neil Tyson said. One more thing, the human body isn't perfect yet it is still beautiful
@publiusdg Why not? Why it is outrageous? Letting them live in shit-hole universe isn't? Your argument's totally contradict your opinion that the universe is a shithole. It seems that you and your family are quite happy by living in it.
Universe is not defective. It is perfect. I paid attention what Tyson said. It just doesn't make universe a shit-hole, but people like you want it to be a shit hole and it seems you want it to be that way. I question everything -even your ideology.
@SOKOLEK Sorry i've been gone, too busy with school.
Now, let me make myself clear, the first time i called the universe a "shit-hole" was when i first responded to your post. Now, that is not my ideology, i said it in more of a provoking mocking way towards you. My ideology is that nothing is perfect, the universe, man specially, but imperfection does not equal ugly. Now, the reason why i don't want my family to be brought into this is because they have different views. and you are subjecting
@publiusdg Your statement that nothing is perfect is your naive assumption that doesn't need to be correct. You would need to have at least full (unlimited) and correct knowledge of everything to make such statement. Saying that universe is not perfect is like questioning teacher who knows the solution, by the student who doesn't. You shit above your ass. I am not saying that universe is perfect (because even logic reasoning has has at least one flaw), but also I am not saying that it is perfect
@SOKOLEK I do not need unlimited knowledge to say such a thing, it is very within my capabilities of observation and common sense to see something that has flaws. And i do not use this reason to refute the idea of a god, specially the christian god, if that is what you may be implying. And do i need to quote you, "i know that God is perfect" wouldnt then the universe he created be perfect, if not man, than can you atleast give that to him? And why call him perfect when his creation is not?
@publiusdg So you think like communists. That's exactly what a communists did. Took companies away from people who knew how to manage them well. They sent these people to syberia and killed them, becayse commies thought that they are missmanaged. They put uneducated people on top of these companies, because commies thought they would rule them better. I will tell you that this all ended in epic economic disaster. Thats what's you would do in case of universe.
@publiusdg I don't know the answer to your question. God must be perfect by definition. He wouldn't be God if he wasn't perfect. I don't know if his creations are perfect. In his genius maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but they perfectly lead to Him. That's what I know.
@publiusdg And no one knows. I know that God is perfect. Is anything else perfect? I don't know, and you don't know either because you know too little. You woul have to have full (unlimited) knowledge of total truth to make such statement.
@SOKOLEK *continued* them to scenarios of psychopathic proportions that only a mad man with no sense of morality would consider.
I can't say i am very happy to be living in this world, as i am aware of all the inhumanities and injustices that happen everyday in this so unique world of ours, that only in ignorance of what takes place in the variety of lives, can one live happy. However, this is my only life, and because i have love and empathy towards others, i want to live in a way that will
@SOKOLEK *continued3* cause the least bit of harms to others, especially my family.
Furthermore, i have read the bible, more than i cared for, and while i do find most of it distasteful, i agree somewhat with how jesus lived his life. I do not see him as divine in any way, but more as a pseudo-philosopher. He is 4th on my list, Socrates is 1st,
and to be clear about the "2K+" it was my mistake. It is 3000+, the easiest nameable deities ever conjured by man, it was in a book i read(reference?)
@publiusdg You say, that world is a shit-hole even when you have love that can make good things happen? I think that's why the world is beautiful, because my love can be useful and make things happen. I am afraid you did not read New Testament hard enough or you just did not think about it enough. Jesus proved his divinity in it because not only of what he did, but also of what he said. Too many things happened the way he said. He said, and stuff happened and happens. A lot of it.Not enough room
@SOKOLEK I read it and became moved by his words, but i could not believe in something as irrational as miracles, the suspension of the natural world.
Nevertheless, I try to do good and be honest. I want to be the change i want to see in this new age of ours, bring some rationality into life and throw away extremist believes.
Idk where you are from, but its 2:45am over here and i have school in 4hrs.
Our differences and points of view will never be moved. So nice meeting you and goodnight.
@publiusdg You are smart person even when I was talking to you in a harsh way, I consider you smart, but you do not know many important scientific facts. You wrote that miracles are irrational. Maybe, but science is same irrational as miracles and that was proven scientifically (theoretically and empirically). Theoretically it was proven by one of the greates mathematicians ever: Kurt Gödel. He proved mathematically that logic is incomplete, and every good scientific and logic theory can be...
@publiusdg ...destroyed by its own arguments. He also proved that it is impossible to create logic theory that is complete and he proved logically that science must be infinite. If he is right then his theory must have a flaw. I am not a mathematician, and I do not know details about his work but you can read about Gödel's Incompletness Theorem. Isn't it irrational? Its logic but it is irrational, and it was even empirically proven by natural sciences. Every scientific theory has a flaw and...
@publiusdg ...is incomplete. Darwin's theory has flaws. Every coherent and logic, theory has at least one flaw even when it is perfectly logic. That was proven mathematically and by science. In physics there is no complete theory and you get to the point when you need another theory and another, and another and according to Gödel it must go that way into infinity (it can't circle because it would not be logic). ...
@publiusdg ...When it comes to science, quantum mechanics (QM) is about statistics and is indeterminate, therefore everything is possible. QM explains very well everything it explains. Besides all that, according to QM everything is indeterminate before measurement, and when you measure you change the word. You have no idea about implications. This means you don't know if moon exists if you do not see it. Everything is possible if not measured, and you can measure a miracle. To the point:
@publiusdg 1) Logic can not defend itself. You can always come up with logic contrargument against logic theory even if that theory actually works in real world because any good and logic theory is incomplete and has flaw or weak point.
2) In physics (QM) you do not know anything about anything you do not see (measure), and every outcome is possible (even the least probable and miracleous one). All assumptions you make may be incorrect and can contradict QM that works.
3) Scientifically there always is room for God who is at the infinite end of science. Logically it seems that nothing is going to be able to contradict existence of God. Science actually leeds to Him. He seems to be at the infinite end of it. This makes logic sense when we go to our brains being able to comprehend Him (or operate on such ideas). It would not make any sense if He did not exist.
4) Miracles are not unscientific. Everything is possible. We are at such stage (QM)...
...we don't know what's real and what's not. Everything can be rational. Thanks to QM, logically, physics goes into metaphysics, and thats all logic and scientific. It's mindblowing. Neurology uses a little similar approach but many neurologists refuse to deal with it and face it. For example does sound have color? Or does color have sound? Some people can hear colors and some can see sounds. It is assumption that this is pathology. Neurologically what does that mean? Everything is
... our imagination. So what's reality? We actually imagine it! And that's science! So are dreams real? Well, scientifically they could be. It is just assumption they aren't. We are so advanced scientifically that science is mindblowing, and crazy and logic at the same time but still not perfectly coherent. It actually brings us closer to God than further. I believe that shitty and miserable life is a test, so only those who pass it are the worthy ones of being in Blue Kingdom.
@mphello No, you are just retarded commie -like the rest of commies. Marx could not make a good conclusion out of his observations. He was not smart enough. Jesus is. He actually sets the rules, and even you will at least 100% comply with them and you are complying with them already. You are stupid and you don't know it. Nothing complies with Marx' rules at all -you don't know it either.
@SOKOLEK You disgusting piece of disrespectful shit, calling Karl Marx "not smart" enough. You are not worthy to kiss his feces. Jesus was nothing special. Preached a few things about treating others nicely. Nothing new. Thousands had said the same thing before, but unlike Jesus, they were lucky to have a fanatic band of followers.
Marx did hardcore research about the state of worker and factory salaries, legal cases, throughout Europe at the time.
@SOKOLEK If your ideology rejects Karl Marx, it is worthless shit.
And I can report you for hate speech and hate crimes, the same way you poor wittle offended christards report others for making fun of your imaginary jesus.
Thank you for your invectives. There is nothing more pleasant to the ear than a squeal of pissed off communist pig. I am very glad that I am not worthy to kiss marx' feces, but it seems, you are the worthy one, so go ahead and kiss his shit. When you "build" your communist country, show it to me, because I did not have fun laughing at idiots in pathetic cicrus for a long time. And when you talk to me, make sure you clean marx shit off your face with sulfuric acid and wire brush.
@SOKOLEK 5th. Is that your best refute of my 'ideology', that it is crap? and that i am crap? you don't impress me.
6th. Last thing, i'm not gona judge you on your ideology because i still don't understand 100% what it is, but i can obviously see you believe in a god, im not sure if christian god or yahweh or zeus or apollo or thor. But one thing i can assume is that it is as imaginary as all the latter mentioned. Or do you disagree? if so what makes your god so much better than the other 2000+
@publiusdg Well I did not say you are a crap, and if your ideology rejects Christianity, then it is crap.
6) You are biologist or related, and you should know that scientificaly everything is imaginary. Everything with no question, maybe besides God. The most real thing probably is God. What "2000+" you mean?
@SOKOLEK See, i like these arguments of you better, than just suggesting me to commit suicide and die and whatever. Thanks for acknowledging me as a smart individual, i also acknowledge you, the latter you. And all you've said does make sense to me, i am also not a genius physicist, nor do i pretend to be one, but i try to understand all theories available. But see, that's all they are to me, theories, because we can not be sure about anything! But one thing i will always refute...
@SOKOLEK ...is the christian and islamic and all other gods, because just like physicist theories, they are the theories from 2000 years ago to try to explain and understand life.
And if in the end there is a god, i'll let him be the judge whether or not i lived a good and just life, because if he is a just and benevolent, it shouldn't matter whether i worshiped him or not. But as of right now, this way of life of mine makes more sense to me.
@publiusdg You have to take one thing into account. I have multum of reasons to believe that Christian God is a right the one, and Christ said no one would get to Blue Kingdom if Christ nor his Father are going to be accepted as true God. This means, no matter what kind of person you were if you do not believe in Christ nor His Father you will not get to Blue Kingdom but to hell, because Blue Kingdom is only for those who accept Christ and His Father and follow their commandments.
@publiusdg In Christianity living a decent life is not enough. You must be a Christian to get to . Only those who never heard about Christ may be exception, but those who heard must accept Christ as true son of God and follow his commandments to be saved. Following commandments and not believing in Christ as true son of God is not enough. Be aware of this, regardless of your opinion on the topic. Blue Kingdom is not just for good people but for those who accept Christ and God and follow them.
@publiusdg And Christianity comes from Judaism and Judaism originated in Persian area or somewhere around. How it all started? I don't know. I am not historian of religion nor anthropologists nor archeologist. We Christians believe that God reveals itself. And basicaly that's it. Not only through bible or beginings of judaism or thru Christ, but also thru science. Christ demands to accept and follow Him and His Father practically as naively as children. Now, no wonder, world thru science is so
...(because of science) seems to be so mind blowing, and even logic is insuficient (that was logically (mathematically) proven) that even from scientific point of view practically we have no choice as accepting our reality (what ever it means with all (also scientific) consequences) as truth. Rality is so mind blowing, and it seems that it is product of our minds/imagination. Accepting God and Christ is not such unscientific and crazy idea. Christianity is not so crazy idea when
...you compare it to all what we know from science. Smart atheist would say "it seems nature was not so crazy nor stupid giving our brains the capacity to believe in God, because (scientifically thinking) God is not more unreal than reality." I wish you good night.
@SOKOLEK At first glance, yes. But why did he have to make it a miracle in the first place? Why didn't he just make the universe perfect, I mean he's all powerful, right?
It comes down to opinion: What's more likely, that after a series of events that spanned billions of years, life was naturally able to arise on a small planet in the corner of a galaxy in a dangerous universe, or a God created said dangerous universe just so he can make said life forms on said planet for his amusement.
@SOKOLEK Perfection is subjective, meaning it requires an opinion. If it's according to something else (other life forms, gods), maybe this universe is perfect for them. But for us and the life forms around us, no. This is easily demonstrable by watching the facts shown in the video.
really how you are fool that scientist was christian and was from among of you.
if this fool man this much high why his words is not known and accepted. very clear appears how was unfluence by muslims scientist how he is burning from inside.
if you have anycontect with him tell to him that the islam science, and a few musilms sciencetist's theory is so high you are not that much advanced which you find out about those knowledges
@TheAlsalaam Wow. I could barely understand anything you say. Your English is terrible.
To answer "why he didn't debate with us or be face to face that we answer him," which is another great example of your i.q level, he has. Multiple times. Him and people like him (i.e, Richard Dawkins, Carl Sagan, etc.) have answered and rebutted many of your "Muslim sciences," including in this very video. Note the title, "stupid design."
But I won't change your retarded views. Nobody can.
What is called science by the *science-worshippers* of the present age and regarded by them as equivalent to the sum total of *reality*, is simply a collection of laws applicable to a single dimension of the world. The result of all human effort and experimentation is a body of knowledge concerning a minute bright dot comparable to the dim light of a candle-surrounded by a dark night enveloping a huge desert of indefinite extent.
All praise is due to ALLAH, the Lord of the Universe.
@1tabligh > All praise is due to ALLAH, the Lord of the Universe.
As Ross Geller says: You couldn't be more wrong even if you tried. You could try, but you wouldn't be successful.
All praise is, in fact, is due to the mighty Flying Spaghetti Monster, which is the one and only overlord of this universe AND all the parallel universes. It is watching you right now, as we speak!!
@45iceopen Views such as these derive directly from a system of thought centered on materialism; within it, everything is defined and delimited with reference to materialism.
To interpret materialism in such a sense is in the final analysis strictly meaningless; it would be a superstitious notion involving the perversion of truth, and to regard it as scientific would, in fact, be *treason* to science.
@1tabligh I don't care about materialism. All I know is that Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one and only true lord of the universe. If you don't believe that, you will be eternally boiled in hot soup. If you have any more doubts, read the Gospel of the FSM. Muslims are totally dumb, for believing in a false prophet.
@45iceopen Even if the followers of a religious school of thought had no proofs for their claim, to conclude firmly and forcibly that non- being reigns beyond the sensory realm would be a non-scientific choice, based on imagination and speculation.
@1tabligh > non-scientific choice, based on imagination and speculation.
That is exactly what you did, when you attributed all praise to your imaginary god - ALLAH, who has absolutely no evidence of ever existing. On the other hand, there are frequent sightings of FSM.
Allah is a false god and Mohd is a false prophet. Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one and only true lord. All praise is actually due to him.
Church of FSM is the only true religion. Islam is fake.
@45iceopen Some people try to propagate this *fantasy* in the garb of science and to present their choice as having been dictated by scientific thought. In the final analysis, however, the denial involved in such an assertion is unworthy of science and philosophy, and even *contradicts* empirical logic.
@1tabligh > Some people try to propagate this *fantasy*
All that may be true. But at the end of the day, we all know that Allah is an imaginary god, Islam is fake and only Flying Spaghetti Monster is the true lord of the universe. The consequence of this is that there is no praise due to Allah (because he is just a figment of your imagination) and all praise is due only to Flying Spaghetti Monster.
@45iceopen If man, through the application of scientific instruments and criteria, cannot perceive the existence of a thing, he cannot deny its existence simply because it is incompatible with material criteria, unless he disposes of some proof that the thing in question is impossible.
But these arguments are ultimately incredibly stupid. They assume the need for "perfection" as we might expect it, according to or physical, carnal or hedonistic perception of wants and needs.
They miss the point that the bio-physical-temporal is perhaps merely a means to an end, not an end in and of itself.
I love guys like this! They talk and talk and talk and take pride in their humble intelligence. Men were not only made to have dominion on earth, in a pristine environment. We would had been able to successfully navigate the universe had not sin entered the human sphere. Think about it. Our knowledge of God has been severely severed because of sin. We blaspheme God and walk and talk on topics that angels fear to tread not understanding that every word spoken is being recorded.

The shared windpipe allows you to speak and use your tongue to talk as well as taste and move food round your mouth and for your nose to sense odors in the food you are eating as well as in the environment.
You might think it is "stupid" but I think it is an efficient and elegant design and those who are too stupid to hold their breath while they drink... well they are not for survival.
Don't see how it's against muslims only, it's against all idiots that propose intelligent design and furthermore the ones that promote the fine tuned universe, this niggah tears em up a new one, too bad it's only a short clip, but you can see Dawkins for a brief moment in an orgasmic state xD
I've watched this entire lecture. Dr Tyson doesn't single out Muslims as you do, he pointed this towards the idea of so-called "Intelligent Design" which is a soften view of creationism, espoused by any religious person that wants to explain what they can't understand without the scientific method. Is it right? Unlikely. Is it harmful? Somewhat. Is it Muslim's that have been pushing this? Not primarily. It's rather ironic that you would use a scientific lecture to target a single group.
How is this in any way pointing towards Muslims. Last I checked it was CHRISTIANS who were foisting their BS 'intelligent design' theories on us. While I agree the Koran is just another book of fairy tales Neil is aiming this squarely at Evangelicals.
I don't debate Christians for the same reason I don't debate someone who thinks the Moon is made of cheese. The existence of God is unsuitable for debate. It is preposterous in this day and age of science, reason and technology. Believers lack the standing to debate among reasonable people. It is degrading to Atheists. I don't have to prove that something doesn't exist. I refuse to hold on to a Bronze age security blanket and deny myself the rewards of progression.
@paramattic70 Unfortunately, Christians have a tremendous influence in passing laws that we have to obey, even if we don't believe in their fairy tales. All rational people need to stand up against religion until it completely ceases to have an influence on politics and our daily lives.
People have told me I have no 'respect' for peoples religions. How can I respect something is so deplorably, monumentally disrespectful and insulting to human intelligence as religion. It is nothing but a make believe fantasy land that people play around in in their heads.
Tyson clearly refutes his own point with this argument. He says we are blind to a number of phenomenons and particles that we have only begun to understand. So then why is there such a definite conviction that God doesn't exist? Human beings can't even perceive the vast extent of the Universe and despite all of the satellite images and such we still only see a fraction of a fraction of the big picture. Why is it conventional wisdom, then, that God cannot exist? Science is still too young.
@Fackifiknow No this is a scientific fact. We have only mapped about 4% of the Universe. In fact, critical elements of the Universe, such as the presence of dark matter, was only just recently discovered. Clearly, we don't understand the full expanse of the Universe and to conclude that we do is foolish at best. So then your comment "don't apply your own ignorance to the human race," really just shows how ignorant you are.
@ProphetsofGod maybe others have but tyson never said there is"definite conviction that God doesn't exist" . Most scientist wll say there is no evidence for God. go away and bring bck evidence and then we can talk. Until then, we continue with what there is evidence for.
@Cuythulu How is that an appeal to ignorance? I can say scientists conclude God doesn't exist because of lack of proof, hence, they too are relying on ignorance as proof.
@ProphetsofGod Yes, you can say scientists conclude god doesn´t exist because of the lack of evidence, but you´d be lying, show me a scientists that has conclude there is no god, just one.
@Cuythulu C'mon, are you for real giving me that name as someone who proved there is god??? that dude believes earth is 6000 years old for F sake, doesn't even believes in evolution, there is theist people that go with evolution, there are A LOT more intelligent that that dude right there, I just had to laugh at your reply
@Drummerofthought You said "name a theist that has concluded there is a God" Ray Comfort is a Theist and has concluded there is a God, don´t move the goalpost. Now, name one scientists that has concluded there is no god, as you claimed.
@Cuythulu I didn't claim to tell you a scientist that has proven the un existance of a god, however your reply is just dumb, as the posture of this Ray, the aguments he uses as "proof" can be debunked by a high school kid, as the stupid senseless thing that evolution is not true because there is the need of a female to survive, as the creatures evolved as individuals and took 2 hours to achieve such evolution, it no use discuss with you, having that kind of information as your comeback
@Cuythulu now citing Dawkings, we don't know, but we're working on it. Better than just being sit in our asses believeing something that the human being invented for the pure need of having someone to rely on
@Drummerofthought Wait, now I´m confused, you are probably also an atheists, saw my comment and Tought I was claiming Comfort provided evidence for God, that´s not the case I was having an argument with someone else
Not just deluded Muslims - all and any religious people who are 'at war' with science, I'd say...

what does this have to do with islam?
Saunga525 1 week ago
@Saunga525 I agree in that this doesn't seem directed at islam. However, muslims very often do point to the "perfectness" of the world to explain how it must have a creator.
Lundix 1 week ago
@Saunga525 It only has to do with that one specific argument that religious people make(in this case, the muslim at the beginning of the video), but ALL religious people use that argument, not just muslims. Most of the same religious arguments are used over and over by other religions.
l337pwnage 6 days ago

@obblan Well, maybe if you work hard on improving your IQ for about 25 years you will understand it.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@SOKOLEK eh... first high IQ don't make you smart. The test i have done for "fun" said that i have around 115 IQ. But thats just one little bit intelligence. Then we got EQ. Then we got some other factors that you have to count in intelligence. And "miracle" and god is not the samething. IMO i like to say that miracle is just a sound you make when something with little chance happens.
obblan 2 weeks ago
@obblan I have tell you something. Christians have more rigid and more demanding definition of miracle. Christians wouldn't call such event a miracle, but rather "low probabilty event".

@publiusdg If you do not apprieciate God's creations you can always commit suicide, and go to hell.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@SOKOLEK lol silly man. I am studying biology and the human body because i believe it is a curios and beautiful thing. You do not need to be religious to see that. Also, i have a family who i love and they love me back, suicide is a very selfish act, because it is such a devastating thing for a family to go through. So no thank you. I love my life and try to get the most of it because it will be my only one.
publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg You can commit suicide with all your family members. Do you realy want them to live in "shit-hole universe"? Human body is a part of universe and you just started to appreciate your body and you familie when I talk about your death. You are such a looser full of crap that you can not stand up to your ideology. Don't worry, because your ideology is full of crap too because you insult God calling universe a shit-hole. I consider universe beautiful and logic. What did you create? -crap.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@SOKOLEK 1st. I'm not a fucking maniac to kill my whole family. Do you realize how outrages it is what you are suggesting?
2nd. This shit hole universe is reality, and who ever said that something can't be beautiful and defective? It gives me enough reason to consider you didn't even paid attention to anything Neil Tyson said. One more thing, the human body isn't perfect yet it is still beautiful
3rd. You havn't heard half of my ideology
4th. You're too close minded to understand it
publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg Why not? Why it is outrageous? Letting them live in shit-hole universe isn't? Your argument's totally contradict your opinion that the universe is a shithole. It seems that you and your family are quite happy by living in it.
Universe is not defective. It is perfect. I paid attention what Tyson said. It just doesn't make universe a shit-hole, but people like you want it to be a shit hole and it seems you want it to be that way. I question everything -even your ideology.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@SOKOLEK Sorry i've been gone, too busy with school.
Now, let me make myself clear, the first time i called the universe a "shit-hole" was when i first responded to your post. Now, that is not my ideology, i said it in more of a provoking mocking way towards you. My ideology is that nothing is perfect, the universe, man specially, but imperfection does not equal ugly. Now, the reason why i don't want my family to be brought into this is because they have different views. and you are subjecting
publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg Your statement that nothing is perfect is your naive assumption that doesn't need to be correct. You would need to have at least full (unlimited) and correct knowledge of everything to make such statement. Saying that universe is not perfect is like questioning teacher who knows the solution, by the student who doesn't. You shit above your ass. I am not saying that universe is perfect (because even logic reasoning has has at least one flaw), but also I am not saying that it is perfect
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@SOKOLEK I do not need unlimited knowledge to say such a thing, it is very within my capabilities of observation and common sense to see something that has flaws. And i do not use this reason to refute the idea of a god, specially the christian god, if that is what you may be implying. And do i need to quote you, "i know that God is perfect" wouldnt then the universe he created be perfect, if not man, than can you atleast give that to him? And why call him perfect when his creation is not?
publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg So you think like communists. That's exactly what a communists did. Took companies away from people who knew how to manage them well. They sent these people to syberia and killed them, becayse commies thought that they are missmanaged. They put uneducated people on top of these companies, because commies thought they would rule them better. I will tell you that this all ended in epic economic disaster. Thats what's you would do in case of universe.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg I don't know the answer to your question. God must be perfect by definition. He wouldn't be God if he wasn't perfect. I don't know if his creations are perfect. In his genius maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but they perfectly lead to Him. That's what I know.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@SOKOLEK one more thing, why do i feel like i've answered, or atleast try to, all of your questions yet you've avoided mine?
I asked you, out of the thousands of gods ever mentioned IN recorded history, why is your one god the only correct one?
publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg He is correct one by definition. He wouldn't be God if someone else could match up to him. Only one God must exist.
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg And no one knows. I know that God is perfect. Is anything else perfect? I don't know, and you don't know either because you know too little. You woul have to have full (unlimited) knowledge of total truth to make such statement.

I can't say i am very happy to be living in this world, as i am aware of all the inhumanities and injustices that happen everyday in this so unique world of ours, that only in ignorance of what takes place in the variety of lives, can one live happy. publiusdg 2 weeks ago
It is 3000+, the easiest nameable deities ever conjured by man, it was in a book i read(reference?)
publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg You say, that world is a shit-hole even when you have love that can make good things happen? I think that's why the world is beautiful, because my love can be useful and make things happen. I am afraid you did not read New Testament hard enough or you just did not think about it enough. Jesus proved his divinity in it because not only of what he did, but also of what he said. Too many things happened the way he said. He said, and stuff happened and happens. A lot of it.Not enough room

SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg ...destroyed by its own arguments. He also proved that it is impossible to create logic theory that is complete and he proved logically that science must be infinite. If he is right then his theory must have a flaw. I am not a mathematician, and I do not know details about his work but you can read about Gödel's Incompletness Theorem. Isn't it irrational? Its logic but it is irrational, and it was even empirically proven by natural sciences. Every scientific theory has a flaw and...
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg ...is incomplete. Darwin's theory has flaws. Every coherent and logic, theory has at least one flaw even when it is perfectly logic. That was proven mathematically and by science. In physics there is no complete theory and you get to the point when you need another theory and another, and another and according to Gödel it must go that way into infinity (it can't circle because it would not be logic). ...
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg ...When it comes to science, quantum mechanics (QM) is about statistics and is indeterminate, therefore everything is possible. QM explains very well everything it explains. Besides all that, according to QM everything is indeterminate before measurement, and when you measure you change the word. You have no idea about implications. This means you don't know if moon exists if you do not see it. Everything is possible if not measured, and you can measure a miracle. To the point:
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg 1) Logic can not defend itself. You can always come up with logic contrargument against logic theory even if that theory actually works in real world because any good and logic theory is incomplete and has flaw or weak point.
2) In physics (QM) you do not know anything about anything you do not see (measure), and every outcome is possible (even the least probable and miracleous one). All assumptions you make may be incorrect and can contradict QM that works.
...
SOKOLEK 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg
We are at such stage (QM)...

publiusdg 2 weeks ago
@publiusdg You have to take one thing into account. I have multum of reasons to believe that Christian God is a right the one, and Christ said no one would get to Blue Kingdom if Christ nor his Father are going to be accepted as true God. This means, no matter what kind of person you were if you do not believe in Christ nor His Father you will not get to Blue Kingdom but to hell, because Blue Kingdom is only for those who accept Christ and His Father and follow their commandments.
SOKOLEK 1 week ago

Ramen!
45iceopen 1 month ago
@45iceopen Views such as these derive directly from a system of thought centered on materialism; within it, everything is defined and delimited with reference to materialism.
To interpret materialism in such a sense is in the final analysis strictly meaningless; it would be a superstitious notion involving the perversion of truth, and to regard it as scientific would, in fact, be *treason* to science.
1tabligh 1 month ago
@1tabligh I don't care about materialism. All I know is that Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one and only true lord of the universe. If you don't believe that, you will be eternally boiled in hot soup. If you have any more doubts, read the Gospel of the FSM. Muslims are totally dumb, for believing in a false prophet.
R'amen.
45iceopen 1 month ago
@45iceopen Even if the followers of a religious school of thought had no proofs for their claim, to conclude firmly and forcibly that non- being reigns beyond the sensory realm would be a non-scientific choice, based on imagination and speculation.
1tabligh 1 month ago
@1tabligh > non-scientific choice, based on imagination and speculation.
That is exactly what you did, when you attributed all praise to your imaginary god - ALLAH, who has absolutely no evidence of ever existing. On the other hand, there are frequent sightings of FSM.
Allah is a false god and Mohd is a false prophet. Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one and only true lord. All praise is actually due to him.
Church of FSM is the only true religion. Islam is fake.
R'amen.
45iceopen 1 month ago
@45iceopen Some people try to propagate this *fantasy* in the garb of science and to present their choice as having been dictated by scientific thought. In the final analysis, however, the denial involved in such an assertion is unworthy of science and philosophy, and even *contradicts* empirical logic.
1tabligh 1 month ago
@1tabligh > Some people try to propagate this *fantasy*
All that may be true. But at the end of the day, we all know that Allah is an imaginary god, Islam is fake and only Flying Spaghetti Monster is the true lord of the universe. The consequence of this is that there is no praise due to Allah (because he is just a figment of your imagination) and all praise is due only to Flying Spaghetti Monster.
R'amen!
45iceopen 1 month ago
@45iceopen If man, through the application of scientific instruments and criteria, cannot perceive the existence of a thing, he cannot deny its existence simply because it is incompatible with material criteria, unless he disposes of some proof that the thing in question is impossible.
1tabligh 1 month ago
I agree that "creationism" is stupid.
But these arguments are ultimately incredibly stupid. They assume the need for "perfection" as we might expect it, according to or physical, carnal or hedonistic perception of wants and needs.
They miss the point that the bio-physical-temporal is perhaps merely a means to an end, not an end in and of itself.

We blaspheme God and walk and talk on topics that angels fear to tread not understanding that every word spoken is being recorded.

The universe apologizes to humanity for all the suffering.
It is the only way she can think of to evolve us and beyond, naturally and from nothing.
She would like to know if you think it has been worth it even though she can't do magic.
Neil deGrass has voted emphatically "NO", what about you?

@papasmurfXXX well actually it's technically 3. The 2 nostrils and the mouth :D

@papasmurfXXX but a shared windpipe... if you are choking on food... you can't breath through either hole.
forrestschaeffer 1 month ago
@forrestschaeffer

@LeopoldStotch23 I disagree. It's aimed creationists of all colours.

@LeopoldStotch23 muslims strongly believes in the fairy tale quran. they believe the earth was intelligently designed by allah.

I refuse to hold on to a Bronze age security blanket and deny myself the rewards of progression.
paramattic70 1 month ago

ProphetsofGod 1 month ago
@ProphetsofGod "Human beings can't even perceive the vast extent of the Universe" please dont apply your own ignorance to the human race.
Fackifiknow 1 month ago
@Fackifiknow No this is a scientific fact. We have only mapped about 4% of the Universe. In fact, critical elements of the Universe, such as the presence of dark matter, was only just recently discovered. Clearly, we don't understand the full expanse of the Universe and to conclude that we do is foolish at best. So then your comment "don't apply your own ignorance to the human race," really just shows how ignorant you are.
ProphetsofGod 1 month ago
@ProphetsofGod maybe others have but tyson never said there is"definite conviction that God doesn't exist" . Most scientist wll say there is no evidence for God. go away and bring bck evidence and then we can talk. Until then, we continue with what there is evidence for.
oneki 1 month ago
@ProphetsofGod So again, you go back to an appeal to ignorance.
Cuythulu 1 month ago
@Cuythulu How is that an appeal to ignorance? I can say scientists conclude God doesn't exist because of lack of proof, hence, they too are relying on ignorance as proof.
ProphetsofGod 1 month ago
@ProphetsofGod Yes, you can say scientists conclude god doesn´t exist because of the lack of evidence, but you´d be lying, show me a scientists that has conclude there is no god, just one.

@Cuythulu C'mon, are you for real giving me that name as someone who proved there is god??? that dude believes earth is 6000 years old for F sake, doesn't even believes in evolution, there is theist people that go with evolution, there are A LOT more intelligent that that dude right there, I just had to laugh at your reply
Drummerofthought 1 month ago
@Drummerofthought You said "name a theist that has concluded there is a God" Ray Comfort is a Theist and has concluded there is a God, don´t move the goalpost. Now, name one scientists that has concluded there is no god, as you claimed.
Cuythulu 1 month ago
@Cuythulu Well I am an atheist but I can tell you that Victor Stenger has famously come to that conclusion.
shawndimery 1 month ago
@Cuythulu I didn't claim to tell you a scientist that has proven the un existance of a god, however your reply is just dumb, as the posture of this Ray, the aguments he uses as "proof" can be debunked by a high school kid, as the stupid senseless thing that evolution is not true because there is the need of a female to survive, as the creatures evolved as individuals and took 2 hours to achieve such evolution, it no use discuss with you, having that kind of information as your comeback
