Wonderful boxer, and the greatest Super-Featherweight of all time as far as I'm concerned. Was as close to boxing perfection as anyone came during the 1970s and early 1980s; could counter-punch, had a brilliant straight right, could hook the left in close, could jab and box his way out of trouble, could attack in quick bursts and had great heart for the battle. Top 25 pound for pound great in my eyes, and if he'd fought Pacquiao? Forget it. Pacquiao wouldn't stand a chance.

thank you jjc51010 for posting this. it brings tears to my eyes watching this footage.... yo soy nicaraguense. i've lived in miami for 26 years now. about 8 years ago i was shooting pool in managua in a "regular joe" type of billiard hall - nothing fancy. about 10 minutes later i noticed that Alexis was also playing about 3 tables away from us. i quietly walked over and said that i didn't want to bother him but that i had always admired him. he put his cue down, smiled, and shook my hand.
