The Orca's are pretty amazing too. They knew the penguin was there, It would of been so easy for them to capsize the inflatable boat, and feast on the humans but they didn't even nudge it as they swam under it. Respect.

I was in the boat. the video is from january 05 and we were on a commercial Antarctica cruise. The film was shot by a norwegian who was also in the boat.

it was dangerous but we did not have the time to worry, it was too exciting

Orcas are smart enough to not kills humans, but if those Orcas were stupid enogh and did want to kill those people on that raft, they'd be whale food. Orcas can cut a Jaws type killer whale into 2 pieces with a single bite. Orcas are the #2 preditor on earth and can even kill the mighty blue whale because Orcas hunt in packs and likely killed off the ancient Megaladon as well.

That has to be the most amazing thing that I have ever seen. I am amazed at the fearlessness of the penguin. Mind you he may have been thinking, "It's either them or the Orcas." And I can tell you if had been the penguin, it would be a no brainer.

I also believe that the Orcas meant no harm at all as with them swimming under the boat they could have easily turned it over.

I find it hard to believe a whole pod of orcas would want to eat one little penguin. It looks to me like they were playing with him more than anything. Orcas also hunt seals, even if its a small seal to teach the other orcas how to kill them even if they are on a floating piece of ice or in this case a boat, indeed I guess that Orca that stood by the boat was examinating it as a potential threat or an obstacle in their playing/feeding/teaching process

Well, no more than they did by having the boat there, but animals are unpredictable, who knew that the penguin would jump on the boat? Besides, a penguin isn't a decent meal for one orca, let alone a whole pod. A nice, fat seal would be a much better meal! XD
