Ya know Obama can be a smart guy. However when compared to Paul in this discussion there really isn't any comparison. Notice how Obama said, "I spoke with .... before our meetings because I thought this might come up". In other words he needed to be loaded up with talking points.
Paul Ryan is a corporate dog who only cares about helping the rich and big business he does not give a DAMN about what the common people think he doesn't care about our needs he rather the rich get richer and then we front all of their mistakes
@killerdadd and Obama is some knight in shining armor who is completely selfless? Let me guess you think Obama is in Washington bending over backwards to fight for "the little guy" and Republicans like Paul Ryan are just rich, evil, greedy bastards trying to screw everyone so they can make $? WAKE UP! Obama doesn't care about you or "the common people" either, Obama is "the rich" and he and his friends are getting richer off "the common people" while ignorant people like you buy into his lies
@alexsilverman615 lol I never said Obama is any different then Paul Ryan Obama is a corporate dog and sell out he isnt at all a progressive and all his decisions are ment to keep the rich happy how ever the Paul Ryan plan fundmently destroys the middle class none of those in congress wish to see the middle class thrive but here is the thing the republicans and democrats are all bought out by the corporation none of these plans will ever help america or the poor they are ment to do the oppisite

@BMIStark AMEN! I love Paul Ryan! Many don't know he was a speechwriter for Jack Kemp. He's VERY intelligent & articulate....with NO teleprompter!! I wanted him to run for Pres. The Senate is expected a vote on S.J.Res.6, a Joint Resolution of Disapproval to overturn the net neutrality order. Under the Congressional Review Act, the resolution cannot be filibustered and Harry Reid cannot keep it off of the Senate floor. That means that if just four Democratic senators join all 47 Republicans they can stop this outrageous power grab, and protect the free market Internet – daring Obama to veto and take full political responsibility.
@hellotommy This is net neutrality asshole. Just like I said before. It is congress that is the problem. Obama doesn't want the internet incorporated. He wants it to stay as it is now. Here is a video explaining to your dumb ass. watch?v=l9jHOn0EW8U
@splicedenergy Crony Corporatism is the modus operandi. Over-bloated like our federal system is exactly what Obama is about. Obama likes to regulate sectors of business while excluding the biggest lobby's so only the largest corner that particular sector and all competition fades off in a sea of over-reg. while the Obama picked corp grows "to big to fail" then when they fall guess what? We have to "bail them out" those days are over; the citizenry will remove all progressive waste and fraud.
Now comes a clear test for the U.S. Senate. There is no clearer example of outrageous abuse of regulatory power than the FCC’s net neutrality order. It came just weeks after an election in which all 95 candidates who campaigned on the issue lost.
so, obama just referred to ryan's young family as his "crew"? really? i wish ryan responded by calling himself the organizer of his own small community.
it really is true, what they say. obama is a dick.
So many ways to drain Liberty from the American People... You can, have a Global Caliphate or maybe the Marxist or Fabians will win. Never count out the Chinese taking over the world either. Maybe the Amish got it right. One thing seems to be emanating from the collapse of the American Military once the Communist style "Super Committee" guts it, and the current destruction of the Capitalist Economy. Somebody will own you they are lining up to get the big prize, and you don’t have a thing to say.
i believe strongly that a re-investigation of 911 NEEDS to be gravely done cause of the UNKNOWN changes since the bush administration which i believe me and my fellow Americans found our experiences *earth shaking* huge changes to mega corporation the tax cuts accumulation of debt the media taking control of what it says EVEN RON PAUL .ect so audit the federal reserve and work on the money system cause where our money goes is definitely corrupt since faceless corporations is all u see t u chase
Not True Obama. The stabalizers in your budget due to the downturn in the economy to pay for existing programs were caused by BAIL OUTS to shore up Globalized Corporate Entities & State Gov't balance sheets because of Malfeasance: fraud, waste & deep pockets over decades REWARDED by your Bailouts. Too BIG TOO FAIL is NOT a legitimate arguement
no matter how you Sugar Coated. YOU screwed up & the American People are PAYING for it
@Debba99 I'm just curious how did Obama screwed up "The American people"? The too big to fail existed in the beginning stages of Bush's term. Obama tried to deal with wasteful corporate subsides but the republicans filibustered him in unprecedented level. I agree Obama should've to a stronger step to regulate this matter but you can't solely place the blame on him.Besides if Obama didn't bail out Wall st do you know what would've happend?
Please Paul Ryan save our Country from this most destructive President in History. Obama is anti-American, and anybody that will not recognize this deliberate destruction is in denial. Wake- Up Folks. Ryan for President.
Use a scalpel against the needs of the working class.
GE paid NO FEDERAL TAXES in 2010. ($0.00).
Bank of America paid ZERO too!.
The Bank/Wall Street folks that actually caused the economic collapse have never served a day of jail time and have so much money they don't know what to do with.
And you need a scalpel against the poor?
A scalpel against the working class?
Against the elderly?
Against the disabled?
They agreed to pay cuts in WI but you strip their BASIC RIGHTS.
"Every government interference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others" — Ayn Rand
It is a logical impossibility that the Republicans are interested in reducing the deficit. If you want to pay down debt, you don't reduce income. The Republicans reduced income by demanding tax cuts for the nation's wealthiest. Therefore, it is logically impossible that their primary goal is to reduce the deficit.
I can't believe that Obama has managed to find a way to say it was Bush's fault without actually saying "It was Bush's fault". Barry's got nothing but smoke and mirrors.
The budget cutting effort thus far is like trying to put out a 10,000 acre forest fire with a squirt gun. Get real Washington - the forest is burning!!!
A bi-partisan comittee said Obamacare would not add to the deficit but cut the deficit by over a trillion dollars, I don't get it why are people against it? Why not go after military spending instead? Oh thats right because then the arms manufacturers would have to take a pay cut
@bsisthebest1 You are not alone. I thought he was a hustler from the jump. How do you know he's lying? His lips are moving! I pray America wakes up & realizes who he REALLY IS! He takes his marching orders from George Soros, who has only his own profits in mind & has said that the only obstacle to "One World Order" is America. Read up on Soros, it will turn your hair grey! AND read up on Obama's Communist influence throughout his life. Our Pres. hates America & we HAVE to win in 2012!
President Barack H.Obama says he wants a serious discussion about how to solve the problems. He dodges and shakes the critical questions like the true uninforming, unqualified political hack he is. Period.
In a way, Barry has a winning strategy because he talks so much in response to a question, there is a chance that you'll forget the question altogether and just assume that, since he's still talking, he must be going somewhere with it. Also, he carries on until you just hear a constant voice, but no words after awhile. The only mistake is that he assumes everyone will walk away from the t.v. saying, "He must've won that debate. He talked more."
Yes Obama, keep up the massive spending while at the same time watching small business crumble at the expense of your tax base payers. My business used to pay 25 to 65k per year but not a dime since you took over. All over the nation small business is lost and failing so - Just who is paying the tab now? Since small business makes up the majority of your pathetic system you have failed miserable and saved big corporations. You have done this negative numbers scheme on purpose, no doubt about it.
Come on Obummer just say it like it really is. I'm a lying cheating robbing pilfering liberal Democrat and I dont care what Americans think about me.
This the biggest most disrespectful piece of shit in office that this nation has ever seen, including president Bush and that says a shitload. If I were this person I would be afraid for my life.
@guitarplayer4real you are truly an idiot. one guy starts two wars, passes the patriot act taking away your civil rights, tries to privatize medicare and panders to the oil industry at unprecedented levels, and obama is bad because.,........the health care bill?
@MachinaSapien Oh boy another little kiddy telling me how the world crumbles lol... All I have to say to you fuck off and come back when you've raised 3 great kids/ sent them to school and you've run a business for 20 years.
You little neophite fucktards dont have a fucking thing but insults and Obama rhetoric to repeat. Get out of mommas basement before presuming to insult me, you have nada on me and never will.
I am tired of government telling me whats best for me...we the people are the boss. Obama has had everything handed to him from college on. Oh Pelosi is the perfect example of a person from San Fransisco who has this Utopia picture in her brain. A liberal hippie.
when gov't sees a problem they throw money at it...look at dept of education. They have never ran a program that is both effective and efficient...EVER
I believe the Fed should only protect us from foreign threats and from hurting each other. The gov should stay out of telling us what we can or cannot do to or with our own bodies; this is why they want HC so bad. Power and control over their subjects, they wish to take the power from the people, they will with HC.
For a President who ran on a promise of openness & transparency, and is on TV virtually 5 days a week, he is also the most dismissive, arrogant, deceitful, lying, condescending and patronizing President we have ever had. Obama has spent more time in front of the camera talking than any President in history and still thinks that WE aren't getting HIS message. Maybe he will hear what we are saying at the ballot box in November and in 2012. We are waiting for prosperity while they socialize HC.
@hellotommy Amen. Paul Ryan scares the whiz out of Obama and the dems. They know he is right and scared the general public is going to find out the truth and figure out that the liberals have bankrupted this country and continue down that path of spending and spending.
The stupidest thing Obama has said, and he has said many dangerous things, is that "we can spend our way out of debt."
@hellotommy At least Bush was a dumbass who couldn't talk his way out of a McDonalds. But this guy is slick. He's the real deal. He's got that Reagan thing going for him where he is a charismatic speaker who can dodge shit like a pro.
@Butmunch666 He is sharp, and he's not our friend. Obama would love to grow the recipient class so large we'd have to radically fundamentally transform America into a wealth redistributive democracy as opposed to a Constitutional Republic. We'd better wake up to this, or we will in fact, wake up to see the dawn of Socialism has risen in America.
@SomeFatGuy3591 His popularity doesn't matter, at the end of the day it's his ability to dodge shit that's important. Every presidents ratings decline with time it's just a fact of politics, but Obama still enjoys quite some popularity and will probably be elected for a second term.
@Butmunch666 The American people have gotten a lot of distaste since he was sworn into office. If he does get re-elected it will probably only be because his opponent is even worse then him. And his ability to dodge shit is no different then any other shitty politician. Hence why his popularity is so low. If he was so good at dodging the truth, he would have more people praising him. Truth is, he is just another low life. Nothing special about him.
Yes, and of course the media never falsify any of his messages. I'm not talking about Fox News only, MSNBC does so aswell. The media either portays him as messiah or as kenian socialist prick.
@uburoibob Progressive Democrats are the ones centralizing the power structure from a Republic to a more executive oligarchy style form of transitional Socialism. For example; Green movement is a power grab through energy. Or taking the health care system away from people and putting a politician in control of your health choices, isn't that what they're doing? Precisely what I said; Truly Government workers do not feel recession. You see that don’t you?
@splicedenergy Where is Obama's new ideas, leadership, sound monetary policies and plan?Listen, if we don't get past the D andR thing fast, we will lose the Republic. If we double-dip... panic will take-over and a new global and diverse "utopia" will arise from the ashes. The American people are the last free humans on the planet. The American people are in the way of "Global Governance". just ask Al Gore, he'll tell you if you don't believe me.
@splicedenergy How about every member of Congress that voted FOR the Fairness Doctrine? It’s a law that would end talk radio; pure selective censorship. Its shocking how Senators like Jay Rockefeller would love to be the prison guard of American society, he'd rather rule than serve clearly. Politicos pretend to care but in the end total control is the end game. Having access to clips like this one educate. Net Neutrality will get its tentacles into our access, and then we will be stuck with BS
@splicedenergy A slow FCC ooze into the the access of bandwidth... then they will evolve and transform the internet as to "improve" or to "make better" the system and make money off of access, at first. You want information? Pay me! You want truth? I said it is so! The government is always looking to broaden its control and power over its subjects, they own our minds in school and in the media. Corporations are not the enemy, the government will rule corps and citizenery alike in the end.
@splicedenergy Obama (FCC) started net neutrality rules in the Federal Register. These rules will undo a decade of free-market, hands-off Internet policy that has made the Internet the greatest engine of economic growth, creativity, and innovation the world has ever seen, reducing the Internet into a government-regulated, government-controlled public utility. Please help keep our nation free. The House has already voted to overturn the rules. The Senate now has two months to do the same. HELP!
@hellotommy Net neutrality was done way before congress was even up. Net neutrality means exactly that. Net neutrality. There is nothing to read into. It means what it says. It's fucking self explanetory bonehead
@splicedenergy A recent Tarrance Group poll found that 74 percent of Americans believe the regulatory burden is too high in this country. Moreover, 65 percent of voters – and 67 percent of Democrats oppose agencies regulating without the approval of Congress. And that is precisely what’s going on.
@splicedenergy President Barack Obama, infamously promised – at Google headquarters – “I will take a back seat to no one in my commitment to net neutrality.” He recently bragged about bypassing Congress to get his way, saying: “Until Nancy Pelosi is speaker again, I'd like to work my way around Congress.”
@splicedenergy Free from regulation, the Internet has been a bright spot in our weak economy, with tech sector unemployment at just 3.3 percent. The net neutrality order will start us down the path to crippling it with regulations. A study from NYU found the rule will destroy between 100,000 and 200,000 jobs.
@splicedenergy read, even the Times you will see my point. Just what we need, more government control...no. What's sad that many people have been fooled into thinking that this is ok. There is no ISP or overload. Whatever the intention, government intervention is a bad idea. Sure it may start out good, it may be in the name of good, but once government gains control of something, they never let go. That kind of behavior is reminiscent of regimes like China or Iran. Big corps will restrict you.
@hellotommy God damn it and your psychotic paranoia. I'm not even gonna bother with your stupid ass anymore. You don't even know what the fuck you are talking about
@splicedenergy Robert McChesney, founder of Free Press, a group with deep ties to the Obama administration, the FCC, and the FTC has let slip where the plan leads:
"At the moment, the battle over network neutrality is not to completely eliminate the telephone and cable companies. We are not at that point yet. But the ultimate goal is to get rid of the media capitalists in the phone and cable companies and to divest them from control.” Look it up naive human.
Seems to be a common thread in liberal responses. They are typically nasty and mean-spirited. The problem with Obama's supporters is they want the gov't to take care of them with someone else's money. Baltimore city, a prime example, is 20% tax payers and 80% tax consumers. Only problem with too many sucker fish is that the host fish dies.
He voted for tarp and the first 300 billion dollar "stimulus" package while in congress. As president, Obama has continued using Tarp funds for auto bailouts (started under Bush), and he signed the stimulus bill, which comes with an almost 800 billion dollar price tag. Then there was the omnibus package that comes in at around 350 billion to 400 billion dollars (I forget), and of course, good, old-fashioned deficit spending. Automatic stabilizers? Seems like extra approved spending. .
@Vetwolf13 Let me guess. You're a stupid nigger. I mean really dude, you've called everyone on youtube that. Maybe those poor minorities should take a look at themselves. Welfare and food stamps aren't enough?...We should give them Health Insurance too?!! Some people on welfare and stamps use it as a last resort. The majority take advantage of it. I'm tired of people like you feeling entitled to things other people have worked for. Say something intelligent the next time you speak.
@mjberry22 Both of you are idiots, whether you realize it or not taxpayers already pay health care costs for the uninsured through higher premiums or taxes. If a person with no insurance goes to the emergency room the taxpayers picks up the tab, health reform will make every one carry his/her own load.
My premiums has increased 200% that's with my employer picking up a large part of the cost, so if making it mandatory we all must contribute for our care...count me in.
@kachfan...If you can't afford it, drop it. Or make the necessary cuts to your budget to be able to afford it. I should not be forced to buy Health Care I don't want (or need for that matter), just so you can afford it. And the whole non-covered ER patient deal you mentioned...Hospitals will do monthly payments to pay your visit off. A mandate on Health Care is like telling everyone they have to hold a Credit Card to put a stop to people charging up a balance and filing bankruptcy.
This is part of the problem now, people CAN'T afford it so they are dropping it or as soon as they are sick the insurance company drops them. Either way I end up paying more for someone else, it is hard to have monthly payments on a bill for several hundred thousand dollars, if they can't afford premiums what in the HELL make you think they can afford monthly payments to a hospital.
The sad reality is people ARE going bankrupt behind medical costs, these are people with care but ins co wont pay
Most economists agree Os spending progs will cause huge inflation (printing money). Acording to the Federal Reserve Board from Oct 08 through feb 09 the money circulation grew 271%. That's right, it tripled.Did homes sales? How about cars? Consumer spending? No, they dropped. So, what happened to all that extra money? Parked? When it comes out BAM! INFLATION! And a new recession. If you're wondering why no inflation now? Theres no growth in spending or demand. So 50 % of your GDP is locked up.
The President seems to believe in single payer for everything, not just Health Care. Growing the intrusive gov. and neglecting the free market is bleeding the democrats of American voters. The allies of the president seem to not understand that America rejects the big gov policies and refuse to allow him to do whats right. There is going to be a huge price to pay this year and in 2012 if they don't start listening to the American people. Start over do it in the open, not in secret and maybe...
Oh please you are full of crap.....it was out in the open the insurance company lobbyists fabricated these lies you are spewing. The reality is once these companies no longer have a hold on 80%+ of a market others will be able to start their own companies and give them a run for their money.
The big government policies got us in this mess, bush tax cuts ALONE for the wealthiest cost $1.4 trillion dollars in lost revenue.
Kachfan...you're an idiot. So in order for you to keep the PRIVILEGE of Health Insurance, I should be forced (by means of taking it out of my paycheck) to purchase Health Insurance. Something I DO NOT NEED!! And the tax cuts you so quickly discredit, were in your refund too. You just don't have a 7 digit income, therefore, you didn't get as much as the ones who pay more in taxes anyways. And you're flat out crazy if you think this bill is going to allow others to start their own companies.
@kachfan Do you realize that the average profit margin of an insurance company before the health care bill passed was 3%? How long do you figure they'll last with these new regulations? Will they be too big to fail and bailed out, or will the government just take over in their absence?
A line item veto is needed - be it Congressional or Constitutional. Politicians love to spend because they have no immediate consequence for it. The freeze that Obama proposes is smoke and it is meaningless. Cut spending! Period. That's what needs to be done regardless of whatever tactics may be employed.
American voters must consider that the executive line item veto gives more power to the president. Is this Constitutional & if so will it enable the President to cut real waste out of bills or will it give the pres. the power to cut a negotiated piece of a bill that was introduced by the opposition party in Congress to get it through? The President has alot of power already and doesn't seem to hear the American will. He doesn't respond to changes, he keeps pushing an agenda on us. STOP SPENDING!
They could drop the Capital Gains Tax 2% and give everybody a check from the stimulus of about $500 bucks and the psychological effect would "prime the pump" as Keynesian philosophy fails to. They just keep pushing for Socialized Health Care and abandon the economy. What gives? Why are democrats ignoring the people of America? It seems to me (and the republicans have been doing this to us too), the representatives in Washington including the chief ex. have got it coming to them in 2010 & 2012.
Giving everybody $500 will stimulate the economy for a week. Lowering capital gains tax will do nothing but raise the debt. (How would giving money to investors stimulate the economy? They'd put it in the bank till the recession ends.) The surest way out of a recession is for government to provide jobs, cuz lowering unenployment gives people confidence that it's safe to start spending again. Government spending is the way government provides jobs. Most economists agree with this approach.
Keynesian theory of rational expectation "priming the pump" has never worked. Some economists continue to believe it works but it never has. I know you don't like the top earners but they invest in business and industry, why does Obama keep scaring the investors who create jobs with proposals for new taxes and regulation? The Obama adm. needs to convince the public that the future is bright, taking money out of your right pocket and putting it in your left is not stimulus. O is slowing growth.
There haven't been enough recessions to test the theories, but Keynesian style deficit sending is favored by the majority of economists, and for good reason--it makes sense. Businesses won't hire till they see demand. Consumers won't buy till they're confident in their job. If you give money to either, they save till the recession is over. You need to increase demand to stop the cycle, and giving jobs does that by giving consumers confidence to buy.
You say Obama needs to convince the public that the future is bright. I agree. That's what Reagan did. The problem is that all the Republican pundits and politicians are going around scaring people about Obama's programs. So if anybody is slowing growth, it's not Obama -- It's the Republicans with their sky-is-falling talking points.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Americans' outlook on the economy went into relapse in February. Rising job worries sent a key barometer of confidence to its lowest point in 10 months, raising concerns about the economic recovery.
Dems continue to lie & deceive the American people. Obama does NOT care about the American people nor does he care about the Founding Fathers. He wants to "fundamentally transform America. We will vote them out by the bushel basket.
A sharp fall in consumer confidence SHOULD spur fear. Lack of confidence is the crux of the problem.
Providing jobs through stimulus spending is the solution. A year ago economists warned Obama that his stimulus package was too small, and your news report may be proving them right.
Regarding your "dems lie" remark: The difference between libs and cons is that libs form their ideologies around facts, whereas cons form their "facts" around ideology.
Did you read the AP article? It came out today. The stimulus bill has failed miserably; The American people are rejecting the democrats on the issues. They are not creating jobs; They are taking over our lives, our banks, our homes and our prosperity. The stimulus 2 (jobs bill) will not create jobs. If the dems use reconciliation to force freeloader HC on us, voters will remove them from holding any majority for the next 20 years or so. It will be suicide for liberal critters in Washington.
NOW: Economists no longer predicting another depression.
Anyway, do you think a stimulus can completely restore the economy in a matter of a few months? Even the minor recession Bush inherited from Clinton took a couple of years before jobs were created.
Gee Last week all the Dems and Libs were touting the ARRA or O'bamas Stimulus Plan as creating or saving 2.5 million jobs and only 10% of the stimulus money spent. Hey Dems If the ARRA is so successful, why do we need a $15 billion jobs bill? "Never pass major legislation, that affects most Americans without real bi-partisan support. It brings all kinds of trouble." Does Reid, Pelosi, & Obama feel the same? THE TSUNAMI IS COMING. NOV, 2010!
BYE BYE, DEMOCRATS. SEE YA IN ABOUT 40 YEARS OR SO...
window dressing, due to his heart isnt in what he is saying. any non-union business get any help from the adminustrations policies? No. Banks can compete with the feds rates. Fed has no compitition... they are the compitition.
no, no help ...just trying to have a dialog is good in my opinion. no one's done it before that I can remember. I think he also did this with republicans recently. It is an airing of grievances. Which is always...errr usually a good thing to do. Gotta start somewhere..lol
Mr President, if you are listening to Keynesian's, you are NOT listening to people who "know the economy best". They have been wrong for decades. I think it is high time to listen to people who are not lockstep Keynesian's...
Ya know Obama can be a smart guy. However when compared to Paul in this discussion there really isn't any comparison. Notice how Obama said, "I spoke with .... before our meetings because I thought this might come up". In other words he needed to be loaded up with talking points.

Seems like extra approved spending. .

@mjberry22 Both of you are idiots, whether you realize it or not taxpayers already pay health care costs for the uninsured through higher premiums or taxes. If a person with no insurance goes to the emergency room the taxpayers picks up the tab, health reform will make every one carry his/her own load.
My premiums has increased 200% that's with my employer picking up a large part of the cost, so if making it mandatory we all must contribute for our care...count me in.
kachfan 2 years ago
@kachfan...If you can't afford it, drop it. Or make the necessary cuts to your budget to be able to afford it. I should not be forced to buy Health Care I don't want (or need for that matter), just so you can afford it. And the whole non-covered ER patient deal you mentioned...Hospitals will do monthly payments to pay your visit off. A mandate on Health Care is like telling everyone they have to hold a Credit Card to put a stop to people charging up a balance and filing bankruptcy.
mjberry22 2 years ago

A line item veto is needed - be it Congressional or Constitutional. Politicians love to spend because they have no immediate consequence for it. The freeze that Obama proposes is smoke and it is meaningless. Cut spending! Period. That's what needs to be done regardless of whatever tactics may be employed.
rickbrownell 2 years ago
American voters must consider that the executive line item veto gives more power to the president. Is this Constitutional & if so will it enable the President to cut real waste out of bills or will it give the pres. the power to cut a negotiated piece of a bill that was introduced by the opposition party in Congress to get it through? The President has alot of power already and doesn't seem to hear the American will. He doesn't respond to changes, he keeps pushing an agenda on us. STOP SPENDING!
hellotommy 2 years ago
They could drop the Capital Gains Tax 2% and give everybody a check from the stimulus of about $500 bucks and the psychological effect would "prime the pump" as Keynesian philosophy fails to. They just keep pushing for Socialized Health Care and abandon the economy. What gives? Why are democrats ignoring the people of America? It seems to me (and the republicans have been doing this to us too), the representatives in Washington including the chief ex. have got it coming to them in 2010 & 2012.
hellotommy 2 years ago
Giving everybody $500 will stimulate the economy for a week. Lowering capital gains tax will do nothing but raise the debt. (How would giving money to investors stimulate the economy? They'd put it in the bank till the recession ends.) The surest way out of a recession is for government to provide jobs, cuz lowering unenployment gives people confidence that it's safe to start spending again. Government spending is the way government provides jobs. Most economists agree with this approach.
SanDoggy10 2 years ago
Keynesian theory of rational expectation "priming the pump" has never worked. Some economists continue to believe it works but it never has. I know you don't like the top earners but they invest in business and industry, why does Obama keep scaring the investors who create jobs with proposals for new taxes and regulation? The Obama adm. needs to convince the public that the future is bright, taking money out of your right pocket and putting it in your left is not stimulus. O is slowing growth.
hellotommy 2 years ago
(Who says I don't like top earners? I do.)
SanDoggy10 2 years ago
You say Obama needs to convince the public that the future is bright. I agree. That's what Reagan did. The problem is that all the Republican pundits and politicians are going around scaring people about Obama's programs. So if anybody is slowing growth, it's not Obama -- It's the Republicans with their sky-is-falling talking points.
SanDoggy10 2 years ago
Sharp fall in consumer confidence spurs fears
NEW YORK (AP) -- Americans' outlook on the economy went into relapse in February. Rising job worries sent a key barometer of confidence to its lowest point in 10 months, raising concerns about the economic recovery.
Dems continue to lie & deceive the American people. Obama does NOT care about the American people nor does he care about the Founding Fathers. He wants to "fundamentally transform America. We will vote them out by the bushel basket.
hellotommy 2 years ago
A sharp fall in consumer confidence SHOULD spur fear. Lack of confidence is the crux of the problem.
Providing jobs through stimulus spending is the solution. A year ago economists warned Obama that his stimulus package was too small, and your news report may be proving them right.
Regarding your "dems lie" remark: The difference between libs and cons is that libs form their ideologies around facts, whereas cons form their "facts" around ideology.
SanDoggy10 2 years ago
Did you read the AP article? It came out today. The stimulus bill has failed miserably; The American people are rejecting the democrats on the issues. They are not creating jobs; They are taking over our lives, our banks, our homes and our prosperity. The stimulus 2 (jobs bill) will not create jobs. If the dems use reconciliation to force freeloader HC on us, voters will remove them from holding any majority for the next 20 years or so. It will be suicide for liberal critters in Washington.
hellotommy 2 years ago
Yes I did read it. It confirms what I've been saying about the need for consumer stimulus.
You say the stimulus failed. Now let's look at the facts:
BEFORE: Losing 700,000 jobs per month.
NOW: Losing 40,000 jobs per month.
BEFORE: 6.4% annualized GDP loss.
NOW: 5.7% annualized GDP growth.
BEFORE: Stock market DJIA hits 6500 low.
NOW: DJIA rises to 10,500.
BEFORE: Consumer confidence hits 23% low.
NOW: Consumer confidence increases to 45%.
SanDoggy10 2 years ago
Oh, I almost forgot the biggie:
BEFORE: Economists predicting another depression.
NOW: Economists no longer predicting another depression.
Anyway, do you think a stimulus can completely restore the economy in a matter of a few months? Even the minor recession Bush inherited from Clinton took a couple of years before jobs were created.
SanDoggy10 2 years ago
Actually the economists are predicting and even bigger second recession when the stimulus bills run out.
johnknoefler 2 years ago
Gee Last week all the Dems and Libs were touting the ARRA or O'bamas Stimulus Plan as creating or saving 2.5 million jobs and only 10% of the stimulus money spent. Hey Dems If the ARRA is so successful, why do we need a $15 billion jobs bill? "Never pass major legislation, that affects most Americans without real bi-partisan support.
