  • And BRAVO to Philip's 75th birthday last weekend 2/5/12.....blessings to your creative genius and humble nature in every breathe!

  • Like someone who has given up Ego, and pride for its transcendental counterparts, gratefulness and compassion...

  • So grandiose in a minimalistic way

  • this song is weird

  • I used to detest modern music, slowly i change my mind, bravo! =D

  • This was in my music test today and I've spent the whole night looking for it, thank you so much for uploading it!

  • P. Glass the greater composer of the second half of the XX century

  • It is strange to make a third movement of a violin concerto one long chordal etude. It is also highly torturing for violinist. (from 3:15 onwards).

  • @K0MP0NIST that I do accept as a valid criticism of his work... harsh on the performers. Hahah not very compassionate

  • such a splendid violin concerto.

  • I wish I could just borrow his brain for the composition part of my music exam.

  • @AnnaKmid You can have mine, I won't need it much longer.

  • And a great painting by Chuck Close too. Thanks for posting.

  • speechless...the mind stops, the heart opens...

  • This is in God's Ipod

  • search nicolas and the iceni. they write beautiful contemporary classical and folk music which has echoes of glass.

  • shit

  • Philip Glass is definitely the most brilliant contemporary composer. Thank you for treating us to this fabulous concerto!

  • This is exceptional !!... so good to enjoy great living Composers yet!

  • maby someone has sheets of this concerto? but violin with piano.

  • Sweet!

  • I love this but it sounded like they were off at some points.

  • @CubedPurpleOrange which points? I am curious as i have a violinist friend and we argue over some points and cant seem to agree on how it should go!

  • @Simon0 in the middle i think. Like it sounds like they're off, it might be how Philip Glass wanted it or wrote it. at 1:17 the orchestra is a tad off with each other but it sounds like they're on time at 1:30. At 2:50 and 3:00 the violins sound really off from there, like they're rushing it.

  • @CubedPurpleOrange I'm pretty sure it's all intentional.

  • @CubedPurpleOrange (we have a version for piano and violin which we play)

  • @Simon0 Oh okay, that probably sounds really good. You could play it the same way but just with the piano, or otherwise itll sound like you're rushing it and getting off beat, but maybe it's supposed to sound that way. I personally think it sounds better when everyones on time and 'with the beat' and feeling it. lol if you know what i mean

  • beautiful! i am going to play this with my violinist friend tomorrow. We have a version for piano (i am a pianist) and violin.

  • @Simon0

Then don't hesitate to upload a video repsonse to show us the result! :)

  • @CossacksChampion we weren't very good actually! which is strange cause usually we are pretty good. if we get better at the piece i might record it and post it as a response to this vid..

  • that chuck close's?

  • @Chwzehk

    Sure is. ;)

  • I love Philip Glass, the "musica minimalista" touch a lot of soul cords.

( sorry for my english). Complimenti! From Italy
