Were you able to Uninstall the Smartware & Virtual CD? I am getting one for my B-Day this Weekend & I'm not happy to find out, that it is a pain Uninstalling these 2 items. I use Time Machine on a different drive for my iMac. So I'm just using this for my iMovie & Video Files. Is it true that the only way I can change the name on the Label would be to first install Smartware? I would love your feelings & opinions about all this. And if you are using the Smartware on yours. Great Video. Thanks!
@vovtoons I wasn't able to uninstall the Smartware but I've gotten used to it and it doesn't really bother me anymore. and you cannot change the label without using the smartware
@live4mac So you did try & not succeed? There is procedure on WD's Support page on the Steps to accomplish this. When you took yours out of the Box, your Label says "Videos 09". Is that how they come by Default? You see, I don't want it to back up anything. And I don't want it hogging my iMac's resources. BTW, I'm getting the 2TB version at B&H Photo for $189. It's a sweet deal, so I figured I could not go wrong.
@vovtoons I think the "videos 09" was a sticker but I can't remember. I tried to remove it once but then the capacity guage thing disappeared and I had to use it to get it back. It won't hog your resources, once you click the X after it pops up it closes and won't come back until you turn the drive or your computer off and back on. That is a great deal, I think I payed $150 and its only 1TB but I have another 1TB drive with time machine so its not a big deal
