I really like this video! I would add that you need to be polite but firm about your allergies and/or hard limits: I had a team of docs pump me full of penicillin while I was waving my allergy bracelet at them! (Thank goodness a nurse called Respiratory and there were in the room right before I started to have trouble breathing.)
On friends and family - I prefer asking ahead of time, if I can, "Can I vent to you while I am hospitalized?" so you know who you can count on!
