Last night I got busted in my dorm smoking weed and got a possession and paraphernalia ticket. I have no idea whats going to happen to me but more importantly it has caused me to look at my life. I came from small religious town that taught me good religious values and somewhere along the way I lost sight of that. They do not write music solely for christians, they write music for everyone. Their music can be interpreted in many ways, one of them being religiously. @milkwoman2000 We cant measure an electron because there is really no units to measure it with, only that its "that long", and in place of "that long" we stick a unit we made up, like inches or centimeters. You could know how large it is, but only in relativity to other things. Thats how the world works, we all agree on a imaginary unit for "that long"

Occam's Razor: Which one is easier to believe?: a) that they'd write about some completely obscure personal scenario (unconnected with faith or logically unconnected with common human experience) where no one listening to their music can quite grasp and they just did that for kicks, or b) that they're talking about faith but cleverly pulled a double entendre on the lyrics so that audiences outside of Christians can also appreciate? Not all their songs are faith based but this one is blatantly so
@gariadara Personally I'd go with A :) Let's be honest musicians are often quite temperamental and if you honestly don't believe that musicians don't write songs about all the crap they having going on in their own lives, you're being childish. Everyone had problems and some express them through song. It kills two birds with one stone if you can relieve yourself of a great personal weight and earn some cash at the same time.

(They're actually pretty normal and relatable guys from San Diego, they DO write about stuff in their lives...Jon is a pastor's son...so based on your logic--fill in the blanks--anyway option A is not very likely). This is a faith-based song that also doubles as a love song, or vice versa. Very simple.

Think about it, this song fits so well with the scenario of someone who has just accepted Christ, the singer is comparing the experience to learning to breathe for the first time: that act of accepting a new way of life. Someone who has found a new perspective.

(again all of that was their own words.) So I don't think calling them a christian band is what they'd really want. :3
