He is one of the best and most inventive artists to emerge out of Burning Man.Through this man's energy, hard work, mischievousness, warmth and insight he creates giant interactive zoetrope sculptures, the likes of which have never been built before. They are simply transporting. I feel like a kid filled with wonder when I play with his artwork. I can't wait to see what he dreams up next.
Great art piece but... Tantalus couldn't reach the fruit (his "American Dream"), because he was sentenced to eternal torture in hell for his sins, which included murdering his own son and feeding him to the gods. Hardly appropriate for a comparison with the American people. Offensive actually.
Pete, you removed your comment about how I do not understand metaphors. Nevertheless, I'll reply: Your definition of a metaphor seems to consist of: Borrow a tiny detail, rip it out of context, then accuse those who ask about the context of ignorance. If the art work is indeed a metaphor, and Tantalus stands for Americans, as the artist has claimed, then the metaphor is either incorrect or offensive.

while your LITERARY knowledge is correct, your appreciation of METAPHOR is wanting.
TANTALUS is clearly referencing the punishment, not the crime.
