I live in Johnston. About a 10 minute bike ride away from the landfill. Probably less.

But the smell isn't even that bad near my house. It's when I get further away, closer to JHS that the smell is just..terrible.

I wonder why?

People living in Alpine Estates and Castleton Estates are watching the value of their expensive homes plummet! Who would want to buy these homes which are located in Cranston and are in closer proximity to the landfill than many homes in Johnston.

Thank God when I owned my house there 20 years ago it didn't smell. Before I retired when I used to go into work at Midnight the stench was horrible. And the said thing is long time residents don't even smell it they are used to it.......

I live in west warwick, cant smell it here but was @ Target on Bald Hill Rd in Warwick yesterday and could smell it there. i work on seven mile rd in hope and can smell it there its just disgusting.

@misterpeetbull the reason we are having this issue is because the company that takes care of the landfill isnt doing their job. that stench is bringing down property values. would you go buy a house somewhere where all you could smell was that?? i didnt think so...

@ Nanderson722 What do you expect? Really? You must not live in the town or any of the neighboring towns. Its abnormal, disgusting and unacceptable. Something is obviously not right about the situation and needs to be done. I live miles away on the other end of Cranston and the stench wakes me up in the middle of the night. It is an absolute atrocity. How about you trade places w/ someone that lives close by for just a week. You will be running in the direction of thankfulness.
