  • is that asbestos

  • good Stuff

  • this is what I call a real instructional video !! : ) just awesome man !!

    JOse Garcia

  • That was a waste of time. No explanations.

  • Vented soffit is necessary in more than one location on this home and I didnt see any, the home needs to circulate air to be efficient. The fence should not have been J'd around either, if they want to tear out that fence and replace it, they will have an issue where the house is not sided.

  • Thank you for your video,

Did you put furring or fan fold behind your wood lap siding?

  • I appreciate your hard work in making this video - an inspiration to do the project myself! Thank you! Also, nice camera transitions/fades!

  • I appreciate your hard work in making this video - an inspiration to do the project myself! Thank you!

  • I'm impressed. That house looked so damn white-trash before.

  • Wtf you j around that turd fence lol freakin hack your J channel also looks like junk I hope you fired that crack head you got working for you

  • all that sawdust and nails and wood chips and NO safety glasses... he's either tough or dumb. Dude, how much are your eyes worth to you?

  • well good thig you are not alone

  • How long this job take you? a month?

  • You can side, BUT you are sooooo Slooooooow! id pwn you!

  • @stillrob420 Even if it did take him a month thats still better than paying someone 2 bucks a square foot to do it. Its hard to feel good about paying someone that much money for something so easy. Like paying for laminate click flooring.

Virtually no overhead and no inventory, since everything is returned that isnt used.

  • Yeahgreat but how to START? With the outside corners up, how SPECIFICALLY does the starter strip attach to the first pannel. The distanceof the strip from the bottom of the wall is WHAT??? I guess its obvious to most but me, does anybody have a video on how to start?

  • @DarthInfidel

Do your soffet and fascia first.

    Measure down from the soffit.

    Find your lowest point.

Level lowest point all the way around your house, making sure that it will cover all the way around, you my have to tinker with thi step.

Once you get that mark, nail on your STARTER STRIP.

    Then corners, then siding.

  • that looks terrible

  • Well, people do things on differents ways. We start from bottom up to the top. Soffit and fascia are the last ones. We use trim nails, not screws. We also uses finish trim under windows, The way we take measurments are quite different than you.

  • doesn't that shake siding have asbestos in it? you have to get that properly removed first!

  • omg!!!!! can you say hack ???? I IIIIIIIII I I I don't know what else to say

  • Fajnie zrobiony filmik

  • wow i hope your getting $800 a square at that pace. Did you all see how he measured and drew a perfectly straight line on that soffit? what a waste of time. I could have put in 3 of those soffits by the time he did that one. I guess you make up for it cause u can pound in nails super fast. Nice videos though

  • when you snap that line for the soffit going up the gable... measure down an inch and an eighth or whatever the j channel nailer is so that you can see the line easier

  • pretty cool video, but it must be old,,we use way more compact drills14.4 milwalkie..that fucking thing looks like a hammerdrill..buddy must have Popeye arms

  • be very careful this guy is actualy damaging the roof system by using vinal siding in this manner.

  • Comment removed

  • I am wondering I have a flat masonite sided home, well half is brick, do you still have to install that under board? Is the pourpose for added insulation?

  • how long did this take you

  • I wonder how it would be if I get the siding from sears to install in my apartment.

  • The transformation is remarkable. Good job!

  • Does anybody know if it is possible to strip board and batten? If so, approximately how much would it cost to strip board and batten from a 5000 square foot house?

  • its not a problem at all to strip Vinyl board and batten, not sure on the cost due to material costs differ, plus lights, doors, windows, if any soffit has to be removed it all has to do with the job, you'll need to get a estimate from a local sider - should be free.

  • GREAT JOB man

  • I like the original style more.

  • green would've been a color choice.

  • What are all the tools i would need to rip off and install vinyl siding

  • hammer, tape, pencil, drill, snips, razor knife, square, if you dont have strong fingers a zip tool

  • Thanks but I already installed it. I just asked the guy at home depot and I saved my self $23,000 doing it myself.

  • hahah!!!!!! $23,000 how big is your house! Theres no way it would cost $23,000 in labor to side a house thats under 4,000 sq'

  • The back and one side of my house has vinyl siding and the other side and front is still aluminum, should I remove all the aluminum siding first or just go over it? any advise would be helpfull.

  • dont go over it. remove it and sell it to some scrap yard

  • For a second, I was beginning to wonder if you were using furring.. I'm glad I watched it all the way through. I feel much more confident about the project I'm just beginning on my garage! Thanks for the video!

  • are you fuckin retarded

  • great job... especially around the electric box, very good idea... only question, may sound dumb, did you pull off the old siding first or just insulate on top of it and side over that??

  • How does the soffit and j-channel expand if you screw it in. The way you installed that is how old school aluminum guys installed metal thet did not expand in the heat. The Soffit will bow in heat and you voided manufactures warenty.

  • On All Soffit less than 15 inches in length, expansion is far less of a concern. I generally use a fastener at only one end of the panel to allow any necessary expansion within the J-Channel.

J-Channel is firmly fastened around all window openings, and expansion is not generally an issue. Corner Post are loosely nailed or fastened to address Expansion.

  • @endurancewest08 Dude I think its warranty.... lol!!! And yeah he is right...that small of a piece isn't going to bow.

  • @endurancewest08

You can screw vinyl siding put you have to leave the fasteners centered and proud in the slot or it will buckle in the heat.

  • I cried.
