there's a thing to consider when you decide to buy a new vw istead of any other made cars : europe is small . short roads , small continent  - a modern vw with 150.000miles is over the designated lifespan here . why repair a vw ? recycle , buy a new one (with even more stars on euro ncap , even shorter lifespan)

and the ad is not new at all : I see this red faced , white knuckle struggle on vw owners on a weekly basis . it's not the gearbox , it's inferiority complex .

DSG is a joke, it has a tombstone hanging over it after 150 to 200k miles. At that point the car is scrap because DSG is ridiculously expensive to fix, between the two clutches and the computer system. At that point the car is basically totaled because it costs a lot more to fix it than the car is actually worth.

DSG is a great idea and it works great, I tried it my self... but Volkswagen botched it, its not worth the time or the money. Nice try VW, but you need to try again.

@GeneralHoohah They're not that expensive to maintain. In fact, if you buy it with the warranty, its all free. And besides, 200K miles is like 10-15 years of driving for most people. I don't know a single car that didn't need a repair after 150k miles.

@Femicide09 Did I mention all the other problems people complaining about with this car? Rear tailgate doors that giggle around and make noise, even after being replaced several times, rusting with the past several models, DSG electronics that fail while driving (its on youtube), cam follower and PCV problems are common, tons of bugs with the 2011 audio interface, and random parts that constantly fail in individual cars, ASSEMBLED IN MEXICO. The quality isn't there anymore. :(

@GeneralHoohah What car doesn't have problems? I've never heard of anyone with rust issues, and my GTI doesn't have a spec of rust on it. I've also never heard of the tailgate problem either. The DSG has a lot of problems, granted, but don't get a sports car if you're not prepared to maintain it. I doubt they're assembled in Mexico, at least the 07 models, because the quality of the interior / exterior on my GTI is absolutely flawless. All in all, it requires maintenance, but its worth it.

This commercial can be interpreted both ways - either there is no interruption of power, or VW makes cars that can't shift.

hah. those "twinclutch" boxes are only put in those "supercars" to allow more people who dont feel like driving a standard transmission to be able to purcahse lambos, ferrari's and whatnot, and common sensewise, do you know how long F1 cars have used a sequential transmission. as far as im concerned ive never seen an F1 with a standard h-shift transmission.

your logic is so twisted lol... you are right... they allow more people who dont "feel like driving" a standard transmission... doesnt mean they can't, its just much more convenient and now much quicker... one can see it as taking away from driving experience... or one can see it as adding to the experience since it'll pull more portential from your car than you could... also most f1 teams really only adapted this system in 1993

yes im the same.. i had a choice fro smg or strait manual in my 330ci msport.. i prefered manual because ill miss the third pedel.. plus the satisfaction of changing gears or getting that perfect downshift is amazing.

plus i prefer no cheating? or handicaps.. whjatever you wanna control it. if computers control too much whats the point in driving?
