It gets less highway because the electric motor only assists the gasoline engine at highway speeds, in city driving under 47 mph the electric motor can actually drive the car by itself.
How long can I expect the battery for the electric motor in this Ford Fusion Hybrid car to last and how much does it cost to replace it? If the battery is ultra expensive, I would suspect that the trade-in value of my car would seriously decline as the battery nears the end of its lifespan. Who wants to buy a used hybrid if they are (for example) facing a $5000 battery replacement in the near future. It begs the question of whether it is wiser to lease or own until battery technology improves.
am a shuttle Driver and I drive a 2011 Fusion and i Love it Had drove the Prius before getting the Fusion I have to Say Love the Fusion Better when you have to be in the car for 6 plus hours Its WAY more Comfortable than the Prius. Over all every thing is Better.
I test drove a Ford Fusion Hybrid a while ago. The Fusion gets 40 MPG. Navigation screen and Instrument Cluster is among the most advanced out in the market. It was a good car.
@Yozer245 the prius is midsize the fusion is full size with best in class economy. want to get into it there are european deisels, non hybrid, well into the 60mpg range
It's a hybrid car that actually looks good. I rented one and it drives smooth handling is great and has comfortable seating the lcd guages, and sync for music features top it off. I want to get one this summer before gas goes up to a million dollars again.
I really like this car but don't you think it's better to spend a little more and get the slightly more luxurious Mercury version. And yes, the Mercury Milan has the hybrid version.
Dude, I own a Fusion Hybrid and I've been in a Milan Hybrid and they use the same materials. The absolute only thing that is different is the outside appearance.
Very nice car, I test drove one in the mountain and it handles like a champ. MSRP for base model is 27,500k, I comes with blutooth, voice activation, 6 cd changer (mp3). Love this car so far well worth the money....
I bought one with the navigation system. Have 1200 miles so far, mostly highway and getting 36.7 mpg to date. More in-town driving seems to be increasing the mileage. Haven't yet figured out how to get to 47 mph on electric only and still keep up with traffic, but working on it. So far, loving virtually everything about this car...amazes me that a Ford is this good.
great review, thanks for doing this one. I love the fusion hybrid, I want one. My only complaint is the honeycomb taillights. Silly but I like the previous tail treatment over this new one. Not a deal killer however!!
@ 3:01: "Wow!" LOL, clearly you're impressed with the interior dimensions. I like this hybrid. It really looks good and the mileage was excellent. Some hypermiling techniques surely would boost the mpg. Kinda wish the rear seat would fold down though...that's my one issue. Overall the car really shines and the review was both informative and entertaining as usual. Thx Dan! (Awaiting part II.)
Here's the thing ... some cars are capable of returning WAY more than the EPA estimates when driven with the right techniques.
The Fusion Hybrid is one of those cars ... once I figured it out, I was turned in some remarkable numbers in-town and on back roads ... these numbers are not reflected in the results. The second part of the review will show how it's done ...

Nice review. Loved your line about "eco consciousness." Thanks a lot.

Nice car. The acceleration looks about the same as my Corolla while the interior looks astoundingly similar to a Civic.

The Toyota Prius is the best hybrid car as it is the most effecient car that runs on gas: 51mpg city /48 mpg highway.

No promises, but I'm hoping that a Fusion Sport will find its way into the schedule ...

Good. I'm disappointed at the lack of Fusion Sport reviews on Youtube.

Hey did you hear about how Ford engineers got like 80mpg out of a fusion hybrid?
rudolphna54 2 years ago
:) lol do you always get higher then the official epa estimates?

Nope! But I've never failed to hit them. :)
