that 1:34 smile is like "wow - this is actually me playing this well!" - it is definatley a knowing smile.... You're really good Macyn!! wish I had half your skill! Keep going! :)
I've been playing for 25 years. Thank you Thank you Thank you. You are incredible. Please keep posting videos. Where can I buy your record if you have one. MIchael Hedges is one of the best. He was my Jerry Garcia.
...WOW!! I've watched many videos with you playing and let me say (as a guitarist) that you're just .... beautiful! simply..... YOU'RE COOL!! ..lovin'you..
I wish I had a great teacher around when I was learning in a small central american township.
You are a phenom, but you must already know this! I'm mega impressed!!! I can tell that you, like me, would race home from school, drop your books, and take up your guitar-friend to make music the rest of the day, long after Mom... AND Dad... had called you down to a cold supper. ;-D
Just killer!!! I found your vid by mistake and really enjoyed it. Saw Hedges live way back when I was touring colleges, good luck with your endevours I'm sure you will do great!
man I love this version of Ragamuffin. Macyn Taylor you are already a phenomenal player and I look forward to seeing your guitar skills blossom, peace!
oh boy heres that girl again,,yea kickin ass with such strenghth yet graceful and subtle..better then most musicians ive seen ...congrats and hope to support you someday..ill watch milwaukee area music scene.is that your home area??jn
Really well done Macyn, I am soooo impressed. As a guitarist who plays in DADGAD on a regular basis, I know how difficult that song is to play and you just nailed it. Good on you Dahlin, you just made my day! I wish you all the best in your career as a musician. :-)
Probably the best rendition of this I've seen/heard. The chorus especially is very clean. The slaps are tight, without a lot of the incidentals that are present in most of the performances of this song, just sounds really clean and exact.
I knew Michael when he lived in Baltimore and I would say that he would be excited & proud to hear your rendition of his piece. You OWN this....Excellent Job,
I can see a smile just waiting to burst onto your face all the way through! Really enjoyed it, its definitely not an easy song to play, that chorus riff takes excellent coordination to get it right. :D
No offense, but you seem so young... I used to sit in the front row at Michael's concerts, and he was such a sweet and unassuming guy. I'm very happy to see to see that people have taken up the mantle. He was truly gifted.
I've been a fan of Hedges since the 90's. I've listened to several renditions of Ragamuffin. I truly think that this is the closest to MH's original album recording I've ever heard. Please keep up the good work! :)
Maycyn This is one of the best renditions of MH I have heard yet. You play so clean and crisp. One of the most important things with Michaels playing style is his silent muting of strings(the ones that other players let ring) and the clean pull offs, and it sounds like you got it down.Keep it up. But don't be holding back those smiles. (you earned them)
Maycn, I am a guitar teacher and long-time MH fan, and I just want to say, Brava, madame! This was always one of my favorite tunes by him and you have inspired me to learn it! Your rendition was just beautiful. I teach a guitar class at a local high school and it is probably 2/3rds girls.. I plan on showing this to my class tomorrow. God's Peace and God bless Michael Hedges!
After watching this performance I'm feeling really inspired to learn this piece but I'm wondering how much punishment my HD28V will tolerate before something untoward happens...?!
An altogether beautiful, mesmerising piece played with such consumate ease and I love the way you get the percussive section and make it seem so easy.
A University for fingerstyle guitarists eh?...that was never on the agenda when I went to school...
Amazing job on this Michael Hedges tune, Macyn. I also started on guitar when I was seven, and I wish you all the joy its brought me in the many years since.
Oh this is great! I have been watching anyone willing to do Hedges for years and I'm always shocked to see new videos this good. You also punctuated some pulls very nicely. Do more Hedges :)
Nice how your feelings for the work drifted away at the closing of the piece, as if in a place where the sound of the music was the only thing in the universe, a closing reminiscent of David Crosby's gentle "Guinnevere" on the landmark disc 'Crosby, Stills & Nash'. I guess that's why we play music. It just takes us from here to there...tom.c., kenosha.
Very very very good. Really well done to you. I have been slaving away at this song for well over a year and i can't play any where near as well as you. Brilliant!
I love this , looking forward to more
