@MySkeptic look dude DCI and HBCU's focus on two different things. to some degree HBCU's like for the stuff to be clean. also in DCI you practice for 9 hrs day almost non stop. HBCU drumlines only practice after school for 2 hrs for a semester. so yeah of course one is going to not be as clean as the other. in fact a couple of the guys on this drumline has marched DCI. all show style drumlines care about most of the time is being entertaining. they do what their audience wants them to do.

hey drummerzonfire, part of the sound is the bldg. Moore Gym is one of the oldest gyms on campus, with brick and hard floors, sound has always bounced off the walls. No acoustical absorption anywhere until the gym is packed with folk.

i aint corps style, but i aint SWAC either... i'm MEAC. but if i had to choose between a DCI bassline and a SWAC bassline, i sure as hell wouldnt choose them big, nasty, non-tuned, paper-sounding basses yall be using on SWAC drumlines. my bassline uses white pearl heads tuned tight, and to me they sound a whole lot better and cleaner than them ugly chrome-dots yall got.

hey drummerzonfire, part of the sound is the bldg. Moore Gym is one of the oldest gyms on campus, with brick and hard floors, sound has always bounced off the walls. No acoustical absorption anywhere until the gym is packed with folk.

i aint corps style, but i aint SWAC either... i'm MEAC. but if i had to choose between a DCI bassline and a SWAC bassline, i sure as hell wouldnt choose them big, nasty, non-tuned, paper-sounding basses yall be using on SWAC drumlines. my bassline uses white pearl heads tuned tight, and to me they sound a whole lot better and cleaner than them ugly chrome-dots yall got.
