Hello Jazmine, thank-you for the comments, I share your taste in music :) Regards Ministry as far as I know it didn't go "shock" 'til mid-late 80s (as if a result of the Revolting Cocks side project)... in the early 80s Ministry was a new wave synthpop band (which I also love)... If you've yet to discover it check out Alice Cooper's early 1970s work... he went to number 1 with shock rock... Getting back to ASF, how I wish there was more higher quality ASF video on here - love 'em :)

When I 1st had it done (in Covent Garden at a place called Ocean Boulevard)and was walking down the Strand on my way home and people were staring at me. I couldn't for the life of me think why then I saw my reflection in a shop window - you have a red, orange and yellow fiery mohican. That kinda made people stare back then. No-one gives a stuff now as it's common place. Work was great - "cheers the place up" they said.
ASF are the kind of band you HAVE to see live , this does nothing for them! They are so very much more than this shows. The bass always was more deafening than the tinniness of this vid, especially for those who stuck their heads in the speakers! As someone who mis-spent a great deal of her youth seeing them in the '80's, believe me they are a great band - before, during and after their time. Love em!
I managed to see nearly all of there shows in the south east from London to Cheshunt (where Tesco HQ is!)back in the day. Sadly older, poorer and with kids - they use any spare cash to see the likes of Enter Shikari and such. Every show was an experience. I have loads of old photos to remind me and bless em for still going. I used to have a mini version of the stage set in my porch - cobwebs and mannequins. Very fetching, keeps the burglars away, mind!

ASF actually is considered a mix of Gothic and Deathrock. Bauhaus isn't deathrock though sorry about that. I just meant those two genres are pretty similar and those are my three favorite bands of those genres.
I've thought of Alien Sex Fiend as an experimental mix of early Gothic Rock and Deathrock. Bauhaus however, isn't Deathrock. Bauhaus along with ASF are two of the pioneers of Gothic Rock despite ASF's multiple genres. Samhain is like a mix of Deathrock/Gothic Rock/Gothic Metal/Post-punk/Horrorpunk.
Samhain started out as horror-punk like the Misfits and then slowly became more of a post-punk/deathrock and then later into almost shred-metal blues metal.
Hmmm. I almost agree with you. But Samhain had strong Gothic influences especially on the album November-Coming-Fire. Archangel is an of goth-influenced post-punk, To Walk the Night is an example of goth-influenced Deathrock, and Mother of Mercy is an example of goth-influenced bluesy metal.

Hello Jazmine, thank-you for the comments, I share your taste in music :) Regards Ministry as far as I know it didn't go "shock" 'til mid-late 80s (as if a result of the Revolting Cocks side project)... in the early 80s Ministry was a new wave synthpop band (which I also love)... If you've yet to discover it check out Alice Cooper's early 1970s work... he went to number 1 with shock rock... Getting back to ASF, how I wish there was more higher quality ASF video on here - love 'em :)

When I 1st had it done (in Covent Garden at a place called Ocean Boulevard)and was walking down the Strand on my way home and people were staring at me. I couldn't for the life of me think why then I saw my reflection in a shop window - you have a red, orange and yellow fiery mohican. That kinda made people stare back then. No-one gives a stuff now as it's common place. Work was great - "cheers the place up" they said.

ASF are the kind of band you HAVE to see live , this does nothing for them! They are so very much more than this shows. The bass always was more deafening than the tinniness of this vid, especially for those who stuck their heads in the speakers! As someone who mis-spent a great deal of her youth seeing them in the '80's, believe me they are a great band - before, during and after their time. Love em!

I managed to see nearly all of there shows in the south east from London to Cheshunt (where Tesco HQ is!)back in the day. Sadly older, poorer and with kids - they use any spare cash to see the likes of Enter Shikari and such. Every show was an experience. I have loads of old photos to remind me and bless em for still going. I used to have a mini version of the stage set in my porch - cobwebs and mannequins. Very fetching, keeps the burglars away, mind!

ASF actually is considered a mix of Gothic and Deathrock. Bauhaus isn't deathrock though sorry about that. I just meant those two genres are pretty similar and those are my three favorite bands of those genres.

I've thought of Alien Sex Fiend as an experimental mix of early Gothic Rock and Deathrock. Bauhaus however, isn't Deathrock. Bauhaus along with ASF are two of the pioneers of Gothic Rock despite ASF's multiple genres. Samhain is like a mix of Deathrock/Gothic Rock/Gothic Metal/Post-punk/Horrorpunk.

Hmmm. I almost agree with you. But Samhain had strong Gothic influences especially on the album November-Coming-Fire. Archangel is an of goth-influenced post-punk, To Walk the Night is an example of goth-influenced Deathrock, and Mother of Mercy is an example of goth-influenced bluesy metal.
