It's my digital camera lens. I had to hold up the camera with one hand and use the other hand to teach. It's the only camera I have. I can't hold the camera still. sorry if it's annoying.
"Lok chea chun jeat ey?"...Hrm...When you wrote it in khmer is a little different from english pronunciation...In khmer word you wrote.."Lok chea chun jeat avey?" But in english word..you wrote "Lok chea chun jeat ey?"...that's wrong.
it's spelled and should be pronounced avey but colloquial khmer you can just say ey. kinda like "mok" and "moaw" to come. the first is standard khmer and the other is colloquial.
nice job!! at least you tried to take the time and effort to teach younger Khmer generations or other nationality that are interested to learn Khmer language.. FIVE STARS FOR YOU!!
It's not Je Pon, please read it as the letter said Ja pon, that more correct then what you said. How can you teach something that you are not sure about it.
1. You are not reading as the letter said.
2. you have some miss spelling letters.
3. You must understand deeply about Khmer history.
You fool, before you any statement about khmer surin, you know about the history ok... When you say khmirrrr is old cambodian ok Pre-Angkor talk like that fool. This guy is teaching some wick Khmer. You need more help about Khmer Language, then you teaching it.
Khmer should be pronounced Khmer (ខ្មែ) in standard Khmer and Khmeur (ឃ្មែរ) in ancient Khmer. You don't even know how Khmer evolved, the vowels in Khmer except for the western dialect had much of it voiced monophthongs turn diphthongs. Also Khmer isn't always written like its pronounced. Bongkaet (birth) is spoken like P'kaet. This holds true for even old Khmer, since two syllables words are shorten in an iambic fashion. Who don't know their history now?
I am not a Khmer linguist nor do I know alot about Khmer history since I was raised in America. I only know how to speak khmer. I'm just teaching this lesson for fun. Sorry If you think this lesson is offensive. It wasn't meant to be that way.
Should just let this person contribute what he can to bring Khmer together. Be more positive and be supportive. You waste your energy and discourage young ones to learn. Have positive impact not Negative, OK! Deathdifying, even your title is "Death"
do you guys think Ah Gairng is a formal word for American?? I am not sure ... this word can mostly be heard from only the old people. To me, Ah Gairng sounds so weird ..
listen to ahMuoy. in standard khmer, which is batdambang dialect, "khmer" should be pronounced like ahMouy suggested. i'm from batdambang as suggested by my screen name....heh heh

Sure it is straightforward, but as an absolute beginner I would ask: why include letter(s) when they aren't spoken. Like: jeat, pronounced as jea.
Is it to differentiate words?

your English pronounciation for "Laotian" is wrong.
Laotian must be pronounced as "laaaow-cheean" not "laew-cheean".
Laew in Laotian means bad.
(Good that I am Vietnamese)

If you want to teach standard Khmer, pronouncing it as "khmai" would be wrong as well.
You should pronounce it as "khmae" so that it rhymes with srae (countryside) or Mae (mother).
ahMuoy 4 years ago
Sorry, I've never heard of any Khmer person saying "Khmae". "Khmai" is more common.
SadSushi 4 years ago
