I met Donna Loren tonight! She's a blond now so I didn't recognize her at first. She is still so beautiful with a gorgeous, slim figure. She sang this very song and made the joke, "We should have had wieners and Dr. Pepper but I'd probably burn 'em anyway!"
So, so pretty a song. This version to me, is better than the slow rock ballad in the movie. SO GREAT on so many levels. Profound talent. One of her biggest hits.
Donna, I had a major crush on you when I was a kid. You were the highlight of the Beach Party movies and the Shindig TV show. I loved your Dr. Pepper commercials. You and Shelly Fabares ushered me into puberty. Ah, nostalgia...
Wayne, don't forget "Annette"! Remember, when she "outgrew" her Mickey Mouse Club outfit (with all respect here)? I wanted to marry her when I would get of age! I agree with with you, gorgeous women - incidentally, Shelley Fabares was Annette's best friend in real life. Great memories...
Great to see Donna again after all this time. VERY lovely lady. The last time I saw her was in 2000 in a very brief segment of an AMC documentary called "Hollywood Rocks The Movies - The Early Years" that was narrated by Ringo Starr. The song was good (a remake of one of her '60s tunes), but the video would have been much better if it was just the guitarist and Donna without all the quick edits, distracting backgrounds and varying angles.
Man, Donna still looks great. She must be in her 60`s now. I loved these movies as a kid. I was in love with her as a kid, after seeing this, I`m falling for her again!
It's a lovely cover of her own song but would have been better with just her and the guitar "player." With a pretty much acoustic, simple song like this, there's no need to pull every trick out of the editing book (I could have done without the backup echo singers, too). Agree that she still looks fabulous.
@staytunedfor Amen Brother! No need for all the video trickery with a song like that. I realize that there's no room for subtlety in music videos anymore, but with an arrangement like this one, the subtle approach would have been a better way to go. Donna looks great still - proof that if a woman gets older, there's no need to load herself up with Botox. The looks will mature, but never really diminish.
I just had to say that since I'm in my 50's that my love for Donna keeps growing and I enjoy all her stuff that she's done over the years. I like this version of when I cry. I really think that she should do a version of "to sir with love" with a METAL edge to it... That would be cool!
I just got Donnas new CD, MAGIC. Some of the music is experimental but its a thrill to hear Donnas thundering contralto wrap itself around some adult music. As always with Donna, there are those moments that gospel singers call singing in the spirit, when her glorious voice just breaks loose and transcends, taking the listener along with her to a higher place. That has to be why she became a star. She could do that even when she sang a silly beach movie song.
Christ almighty, who the hell edited this thing? Great songstress, great song, some nice shots, but poorly put together. Totally wrong pacing for this wonderful song and artist.
OMG!!!, Lady you are still as classy beautiful .. wow, I love your music and never got to see you when you lived in Hawai'i nei. Mahalo nui loa kaua Donna Thank you for posting this ... Huggles
She looks like 40 yrs old here!! I know she's gotta be older, ok, maybe late 40's. WOW! I hope I look like that when I am her age! Thanks for posting this! Not too many women can be in their 50's-60's and still look great! WOW!
Great song, Donna you still have it. Always loved your voice and this song. That being said, the video is over-produced. When you have a voice like Donna's to work with you don't need to overdo the cheesy video effects. It just detracts from her performance. Donna, keep singing, but find a video director with as much talent as you.
This is amazing! Donna Loren is another one of those singers that I have loved since I was a kid. She is still beeautiful and sounds amazing! Is ther a whole CDto go with this? Donna, more please!
sounded good just alittle slow compared to the movie . would of sounded better a little faster. She got passed by like so many other top singers of the 60's
Its almost surreal watching Donna sing this song again in 2009, but so beautiful. Bravo! Bravo! I wont wait for my birthday to get MAGIC. A new Donna Loren album, I must have it now! hahaha

She's got one of the best voices and was overlooked in the 60s. Amazing voice and beautiful lady.

She should have left well enough alone. I barely got through it. The original is way better.

@Capt777harris your right about the editing very poor, who ever put this thing together, ugh! pitiful!
SuperRadiodj 1 year ago
@Capt777harris, maybe Donna herself? Great body for a women in her 60s (b. 3-7-47). IMDb has shots of her in bikini and leotard.
This vid though, I think is in bad taste. A little something more conservative would have helped.
deafsubtitles 1 year ago
@deafsubtitles Is so, then she should stick with singing. It's very jerky, and doesn't flow well.
Capt777harris 1 year ago
@Capt777harris you are totally correct. bad editing.
bluehairspaz 1 year ago
@bluehairspaz Thanks. Whoever did it was probably trying something new, but it's really odd. It doesn't fit the tone of the song at all.
