This history was true during the Barbary Pirates but the market of selling white slaves was in Algiers famous market in bab ElDzira of Algiers all slaves were from europe and white americans especially skandinavins and italians spanish east europians irland and all west europian countries were sold slaves in north africa especially in the market of algiers and the italians were the most favourable slaves because they were extra obiant
This book is one one of my favorite. Yep, that's right, it was a book first! From the two videos I can tell that the screenwriters took QUITE a few liberties. And, of course, the 50's style. I would like to see the entire movie (but I think I like the book better lol).
@AnastaziaDesmond I didn't know it was a book first. I haven't read it so I can't say if the screenwriters took liberties or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. Also my edit of the footage leans heavily to Ms. Fleming's scenes which may not accurately reflect the feel of the actual movie.
"a tasty morsel should always be well-served" and "such spirit amuses me" -awesome lines. Thanks for letting me discover Rhonda Fleming. ;p Can I have her wardrobe?
Never seen this 50's flick....but it must be a pip with a cast like Jeff Chandler and Rhonda Fleming and in gorgeous Technicolor. THANKS for posting! :)
@JubalCalif You're welcome. This was a really fun one with peril galore. Rhonda Fleming is the seminal strong heroine here. One of my childhood faves for sure.
I second that emotion, Molly! Rhonda's not only one of the most beautiful ladies to have ever graced the silver screen but she always had a charismatic, strong & forceful personality. Since you're a fan of hers, it's OBVIOUS you're a person of class, intelligent & rare distinction! CHEERS !!! :-)
@MollyWhipple It's a cosmic mystery why every B to Z movie is released on DVD, yet these wonderful classics are maliciously kept from our viewing pleasure. I see Rhonda has a website; I was hoping to ask her why my faves haven't been released but couldn't email from my current mail address. Anyway, she is much appreciated by all of us. Best, jim
Saw this movie as a kid in the 50's and loved it. I especially liked when the bad guy was tossed over the wall by Jeff Chandler and impaled on an elephant tusk! Yummy with lots of blood!

One of my favorites....if only Hong Kong and Crosswinds and Tropic Zone were available on DVD....I should be happy, happy, happy.

I couldn't agree more. Why can't we get studio releases of more of these old classic matinee films?

Yep.
And may I recommend SLIGHTLY SCARLET (1955), with a stunning and underrated Rhonda Fleming (in Technicolor-widescreen) too!

@ga21299 She still is.

@ga21299 Correction - Not a gift from the gods but a gift from God, our Heavenly Father.
