Thanks, got them apart today, but it wasn't easy. Had to have someone pry while I pushed the tranny with my feet.. (kicked basically). Repair complete and runs great, thanks for your informative video.
@dan2sing4u Double check to make sure you got all the bolts. If you're sure they're all out, you might have to carefully tap a screwdriver in between the bell housing and block because there are some locating pins that might be holding it together. Also make sure the trans is supported. if its hanging down and putting pressure on the shaft it might not want to come out. Same if it's jacked up too high. Good luck!
Finally got the starter off, ugg what a pain, had to use a lot of penetrating oil and a breaker bar. There was a lot of corrosion and a bit of rust on the bolts. Now I can finally loosen up the bolts on the transmission.
How did you get access to the starter? I'm trying to drop my transmission now and can't really get access to the starter without removing the exhaust.
Did you install the transmission? I would like to see how you do that.

Thanks for the tip I'll have to give it a try later today. It really would save a lot of time if I don't have to remove the exhaust.

@PntZomb Hi, on my truck, I was able to reach it from underneath. It might be different on the 6 cylinder trucks.

Thanks for posting this vid, I need to change the rear main seal in my bronco II, and have been putting of because of the "dropping the tranny" part.

@MrRagajungle Go for it, it's not that hard. If you have a helper to help lower and raise the tranny, it makes it even easier.
