  • @jesterthefool, I did got myself a qin:) but I think it will take at lease 2 years before I am able to learn this piece. Guqin is not easy to learn. I'm sure most people will agree.

  • LISTEN TO THIS WHILE YOUR BAKED !

  • I heard this song on Encarta Encyclopedia 2000. But the one on Encarta was played by someone else..... In other words, same song/tune, different artists.

  • 彷彿來到山頭水邊 一陣沁涼入心田

  • tabs anybody?

  • Kong Fu Zi's favourite piece :)

    Go China!

  • piiiing piiing ponggg chiiiiiing piiiiiiiing pow piiiiiiing

  • @Subatomic7 Very very disrespectful... My chinese or japanese or whatever country this is from ancestors curse on you.

  • Seems like I have to listen to this piece once or twice a week.... Do I need a therapist or I need to buy myself a qin?

  • @KangSangCheung buy one learn how to play it, i know i want to :)

  • The nights are growing long and cold, my old guqin of seven strings! And eerie is the tune the wind-swept cedar trees sing tonight. Your favorite songs are those you played in bygone days – you’d never be satisfied to echo modern lays!

  • im in love

  • Wonderfully executed, as expected - nothing less of a master guqin player like 管平湖.

  • Words cannot express how much I love this tune.

  • Could anyone recommend a love song played on this instrument? thank you :-D

  • @MaximilianMontesa The only one i can think of is Liang Zhu from the movie with the same title , butterfly lovers. However according to comments it is actually a Guzheng that is being used even though its a Gu Qin which is displayed. I think the Gu Qin is such a deep instrument corresponding with the spirit, therefor a song about the human feeling "love" as we understand it, would limit the potential of the divine and deep sound transmitted by a Gu Qin. Just my thoughts ;) take care.

  • @MaximilianMontesa Also perhaps the song" A Male Phoenix Seeks his Mate" can be viewed as what you refer to as a love song.

  • Ahhh...soul soothing, it is!

  • This piece is so beautiful. I am moved deeply by its beauty.

  • so peaceful and elegant . I love how calm and flowing it is

  • i bow my head in reverence;

    thank you

  • Where is the painting in the video from? I would like to get a copy of it or the original.

  • this piece of music was recorded onto the golded disc which was carried by the voyager space craft into deep space.

  • Ah, it is so wonderful that such a beautiful piece was carried into the vast space. A beautiful song from our home, earth.

  • @etckoh74 last night i got the chance to see Deng Hong and Chen Shasha perform, Deng Hong was playing on the same GuQin that was used when recording this piece upon the golden disc that was sent with voyager.Very beautiful sound.

  • @etckoh74 nasa

  • @etckoh74 whoever will receive this will have one bad surprise when he sees what mankind really has become...

  • @etckoh74 is this really true? I understand the golden disc was intended to show the culture and diversity of the planet for potential extraterrestrials and future humans. So where did you get this info? (not to be rude or to question your post, just thought it would be amazing if your statement is true)

  • @PyrophosphoricAcid Yes, it really was included on the golden disk. I just looked it up on Nasa'a website. They have a list of everything they included.

  • @Konrad9637 thanks for the reply. I didn't know this was on NASA's website. I wonder what their reasoning was for transcribing these particular pieces of music unto the voyage record. Isn't music subjective? Who's to say which is more important? I see some on the list, and I know they have historical/cultural significance. Unless the answers are on the website, what do you think? (by "you", I mean anyone reading this)

  • @PyrophosphoricAcid Well, I think the only basis for including the music they did is exactly what you mentioned: the pieces are iconic of their time and geography. I'm sure Sagan and co. didn't mean to imply that this is the most important music, just that it represents major episodes in human culture. Sorry about the late reply, I don't get on here very often!

  • Extrodinarily good music.

  • yes i love it too :D

  • I love it!
