I wonder what Doctor was thinking, I believe it was before he decided to just go joyriding in time and space, throwing himself in danger and play the hero. He had a granddaughter to take care of, so maybe he just wanted to lay low,blend in, and live among humanity that he loves. His life was less complicated then, much more innocent. Before all those wars and deaths and losing loved ones and hard decisions with harder consequences. Hee loks like an old man but actually it was his childhood.

This was not the finalised debut ep. shown in the UK Eg the scene where Susan throws ink onto paper was omitted. Also she says ' walking in the English fog', whereas in the original she says 'walking in the dark'. There are loads of other differences.

@AmberBrook5000 As FirbirdKnight says only 108 of the 60s episodes were lost, which means that the other exist. This does include the majority of the 1st, 2nd and 6th seasons, of which many are on DVD. The first 13 episodes are available in a box set as they do exist

I'm srry but this isn't generally considered to actually be An Unearthly Child it's actually referred to just as the Pilot episode and was never aired meaning the this is more as an alternate script for An Unearthly child.

I think this is the pilot episode i persume, there were mistakes from the original. Barbara's foot was stuck in the door when they went in the classroom, you can see it clearly on the background when susan was dancing. It also says that the unearthly child police box prop was different due that on the notice sign its white on the pilot and on the original its blue. I found this on wikipedia, that explains the old footage
