  • Who here is from Gallifrey?

  • charlie mcdonnell brought me here

  • Trekkies- Star Trek was the first *real* sci-fi show. it's the best and Star Wars copied it. (The first is Doctor Who)

Star Wars- ours is more famous (The most famous Sci-Fi series ever is Star Trek)

Doctor Who- *silent* (the father of all modern Sci-Fi)

    I'm a Trekkie ;)

  • i don't care what ppl say, all the doctor's companions are hot in one way or another.

  • 5:37 John Smith O.o probably not foreshadowing but still... could it be??

  • 100000! Views! :D

  • Damn this series is so long. I want to get into this show and I'm starting here. I have a long way to go x_x

  • Like if you're watching this in 2086 because you're a goddamn time lord.

  • I know it's getting better by the minute. When you hear the Doctor Who theme to go threw 1-12 theme of Doctor Who. I'm sticking with it a long time for myself. To know the story how it happen. They really do take you some places that you didn't get to see.

  • I wonder what Doctor was thinking, I believe it was before he decided to just go joyriding in time and space, throwing himself in danger and play the hero. He had a granddaughter to take care of, so maybe he just wanted to lay low, blend in, and live among humanity that he loves. His life was less complicated then, much more innocent. Before all those wars and deaths and losing loved ones and hard decisions with harder consequences. Hee loks like an old man but actually it was his childhood.

  • Haha. At 2.27, it looks like the David Tennant Doctor Regeneration and Rose are hanging out! XD

  • 1channel (aka letmeatchthis) sent me here...

  • @luedriver it didn't SEND me here, I LOOKED for here. haha.

  • Ahaha 8:25 she messes up her line: "Well I don't know how you explain how a fif...how a fifteen year old girl [...]" In old shows like this they often didn't have the money for reshoots and would just have to keep rolling.

  • @DetoxJesus lol,yeah,thats what makes it better :P

  • Oh wow, I didn't realize the theme music has stayed the same since the beginning.

  • happy 48th anniversary doctor!

  • Some things are just classic. Im 19 and I sill find this fantastic!

  • where did u get this? :O I wanna buy all the original episodes but cant find them anywhere...

  • This very episode was beeing brodcast the day after the assassination on John F. Kennedy!

  • i want an episode about doctor who as a flashback to when he stole..... i mean borrowed the TARDIS

  • This is awesome, to find the original of a much loved series

  • Thumbs up if you're still watching this in 3011

    Nope, that wasn't a typo :)

  • This is the unbroadcast pilot episode - they remade it and that was broadcast not this!

  • My dad used to watch this when he was a kid :O

  • @Loverboy19691 That could be Rose!

  • Comment removed

  • @Loverboy19691 Well he is a Time Lord after all.

  • you could at least get the title right

  • I wonder what happened to Susan...

  • this is so awesome i've been looking for a way to watch these, can't believe I didn't think of youtube! long live the doctor!

  • @jjkehrley He has a TARDIS.....

  • @CatholiConservative7 I believe it's called a SEXY

  • That's kind of impossible. David Tennant was born in 1971.

  • The TARDIS was sexy even back then ;D

  • what happens to his Niece should she or can she come back?

  • @afrosisters thats physically impossible this was created 5 or 6 years before david tennant was even born

  • I love that through all these years they've never felt the need to change the theme music. they really hit that head on, even now its still futuristic sounding and its become truly eye conic

  • the beginning of the greatst tv show ever made. no for real it is the greatest ever

  • @afrosisters wouldnt that be great sorta looks like him whos his companion tho..looks like amy

  • @afrosisters David tennant wasn't even born in 1963 so that is nonsense

  • hey can some one list all the episode's from the first one(tunearthly child) all the way to rose the 2005..i wanna know becuz i cant find a place where they have all the dr.who epis from the very first time it started..they have most of the episodes here but dont know in witch order they go :P

  • at afrosisters it is a great look a like but seeing how old the show actually is. that can not be the tenth docter because he would either be in elemenetry/middle or preschool not high school that and the docter can not be two places at once. sorry to bust your bubble

  • not much bigger on the inside =O..... (jks)

  • Yes indeed.

  • I remember very clearly watching this first episode when I was 6 years old.

  • @ushoys I wish I could've been there to watch it when it first aired like you did!

  • 900 years in the past. didnt have color tv :( lol

  • lol so funny that theres no color. :D

  • @yestindo629 its my first time watching it

  • @yestindo629 No Im watching this in 1963 IDIOT

  • I cannot imagine what a viewer in 1963 would make of the opening titles and (most of all!) the music! It must have blown their minds!! :D

  • He looks so much like Tennant I could totally believe he had a relation to Susan...Even the slight sideburns lmao Thnx for this!

  • why can't doctor who play in the USA???

  • @cd2syu2 it does.. on BBCAmerica... right before top gear almost everyday.

  • @guardiecapt2010 really??? :D yey!!!!

  • @guardiecapt2010 oh and thanks lol :)

  • @cd2syu2 because not everything is about americans... its an english show and if it goes to the us then it gets ruined

  • @jamespadley I never said that everythings about americans so chilll dude.... i was just trying to find an easier way to watch it then online and we can watch it on BBC america. i dont want it to come to the US its a brittish show thats kinda the point that it stays in the UK

  • @cd2syu2 'BBC america'

BBC stands for 'British Broadcasting Corporation'.

    LOLOLOLOLO

  • the music en't change nore the sound has it lol ^_^ love this!

  • John smith ... what tennent told martha

  • Oh Grandfather, Grandfather!!...

  • @DAyomandude Eccleston was my first doctor as well, but there were 8 before him and they all have impact on the current character. Which is what is so cool about Doctor Who.

  • This wasn't the original ep that was broadcast but an an alternative take. You can only see part of the original here uploaded by Master Gallifrey.. Daily Motion has the complete original that was aired on 23 Nov 1963 in 2 parts.

  • @m06een00 What do you mean by alternate version? Was this one aired in some areas while another was broadcast everywhere else or is this a re-edit on the episode?

  • @DaedStarr

This was not the finalised debut ep. shown in the UK Eg the scene where Susan throws ink onto paper was omitted. Also she says ' walking in the English fog', whereas in the original she says 'walking in the dark'. There are loads of other differences.

  • 240p we meet again...

  • @SomeRandomWierdo

    Pretty good for 1963 :)

  • haha, at first I thought the woodern doorway the police officer looks at said 'LMFAO'

wow bbc really can time travle D:

  • I can tell you this is the first and only episode where the doctor smokes. :)

  • HELL YEAH

  • This shit has come a looooong way

  • @xxalexmonxx Umm shit?

  • @sagitario114 Not in the derogatory sense, obviously. Its epic..

  • @xxalexmonxx Oh good, I thought you meant, it's shit and it came a long way

  • @sagitario114 Haha no, Doctor Who is my life <3

  • @xxalexmonxx HECK YES!

  • Sooo old =0

    sooo glorius

  • Everything is sooo different. But somehow the tardis has managed to stay virtually the same. :)

  • @billytalentchick22 the camelin cercut got broken and he never fixed it

  • Dr Who is a real time traveler.

Filmed in 1963 She mentions the monetary "decimal system" which only came in the u.k in 1971.

    google "decimal day".

  • i like how the theme music is longer and more futureistic

  • You have become my favorite person on this planet for this upload. :)

  • just think.....this started it all

  • Always liked the legendaric tune (pioneers of electro) if you ask me. As for ALL the Dr who series the could never make me that intressted to get the ntire series. That being said its offcourse some real legendaric heritage in sience fiction serie making.

  • THanks for the upload, enjoyinh this wholst eating a jammy dodger

  • gt64waefg573tgb5y7a3fct5b21937vh4724g5`1tfc3493h2v0951yjh87ycfb8btwbgviqhcrf8x`23tgv

  • How many episodes are missing from the early stuff?

  • @b3ntleg 108 episodes from 27 serials. 11 serials have no episodes at all.

  • the static you hear in the background, epic

this Dr.who series, having been the first ones i'd ever seen, not because im that old, but due to accidentaly flicked onto a channel airing it as part of its flashbacks became my firm favorite, and will always be so.

I miss shows likethis where imagination lead to a fucking gallant saga of Whoism, whenever I'm painting I turn my ps3 on and watch the latest Dr.Who using the ABC tv feature... They have come a long way since black&white.

  • Does anyone know, where I can find episode 2?

  • ok, who else whooped and cheered when they saw the TARDIS? i had no idea it used to have that badge like the new one

  • This is the unaired pilot.

  • @ColmSeanRose a Doctor Channel what a great idea, if this was the case id never leave my house again LOL !

  • @afrosisters woow I love this old series even more now, it connects with the Russell T Davies revival lol. there is strangely another Doctor Who Episode where Patrick Troughton I think is the doctor and he's forced to look at drawings of people he could regenerate as, and one of them is strangely of David Tennant lol

  • Let's Go DOCTOR OHO!

  • @wildbil2007 This was first broadcasting in 1959

  • what year is this?

  • I watched this when it was first broadcast and I was hooked I am still a fan now age 57

  • @Stuffinballoons You sound just like my mum! but I will be the same at your age, if Doctor Who is still going then - hopefully, it is! =]

  • You should continue uploading the original episodes

  • I get chills when I hear the Theme song. I love it! Doctor Who is hands down the best Uk show.

  • Three people must be Cybermen

  • terrible ..

  • thank you for posting this ..

  • @jairzlr AGREED! I'd never leave the TV, nor would my husband!

  • Wait, doesn't the UK now use a decimal system? Spooky....

  • oh i love doctor who this is good

  • This is delightful and amazing and AHHH <3

  • the two people who disliked this are Daleks

  • How many pepole smiled when she said John smith?

  • is foreman his real last name

  • @gigidogbazan no but Ian and Barbara thought so, Susan just used it because it was the name of the junk yard

  • My dad started watching these when he was a kid. I saw some of the 10th doctor and he told me to start from the original episodes.

  • I think ''Doctor Who Channel'' would be amazing !

  • @ColmSeanRose but please not pay tv

  • @ColmSeanRose i agree lolz. i love doctor who

  • 1:29

And that's when the magic began....

  • Where can I buy these? Any ideas? I can't seem to find them on amazon. And they say the orginal files were lost. Only audio available. Yet here is a part of the first ones. ??? So lost.

  • @AmberBrook5000 Actually, to myself, there are redone or found ones, priced at 25ish for 26 seasons. Evens out to about $650. Psh. The audio for 100ish sounds better to me-o wait whats just three episodes. This goal could be awhile......

  • @AmberBrook5000 As FirbirdKnight says only 108 of the 60s episodes were lost, which means that the other exist. This does include the majority of the 1st, 2nd and 6th seasons, of which many are on DVD. The first 13 episodes are available in a box set as they do exist

  • I'm srry but this isn't generally considered to actually be An Unearthly Child it's actually referred to just as the Pilot episode and was never aired meaning the this is more as an alternate script for An Unearthly child.

  • Someone when I was a kid told me it aired the same day Kennedy was assasinated, later that night, I guess it would be wise to check the Time Zone change because it would seem prime time would have been around then in Britain.

  • i bet that exact tardis is probably worth over £100,000 even if its just made from cardboard.

  • this is the first episode, it debuted the same day President Kennedy was assasinated.

  • @Untouchable87OH i thought he was killed the day before because thats the reason why the bbc repeated the first episode the following week

  • @Untouchable87OH It was the day after, the 23rd. On the 22nd however (When he was shot) the recorded the first episode to use the Daleks fully.

  • This is the first episode, It debuted the same day

  • its to bad so many of the origonal episodes re missing from the bbc archives

  • this is awesome I need this on vid at some point anyone know where I can get the vids?

  • the ancient first episode

  • I remember watching this with my grandfather ages ago.

    dear lord.

  • i dont know how many shillings are in a pound either.

  • were the freak did you get this!!

  • FFS people I KNOW a lot of the episodes are lost my POINT was the BBC should re-run the entires series from the remaining episodes!

  • this is show has the best intro evar, simply because it has theremin music in it.

  • How could you not like this video? its exactly what it said it was!

  • I think this is the pilot episode i persume, there were mistakes from the original. Barbara's foot was stuck in the door when they went in the classroom, you can see it clearly on the background when susan was dancing. It also says that the unearthly child police box prop was different due that on the notice sign its white on the pilot and on the original its blue. I found this on wikipedia, that explains the old footage
