Israel hasn't "bought out" it's neighbors. It's defeated them on the battlefield numerous times, and made them realize that they cannot win a war against Israel. All they can do is fight and lose, destroying their nations in the process. This is why they don't fight Israel, because nothing is gained from it. They're (the arab dictators) not stupid, and only a stupid man would get into a fight that could be avoided, knowing he is going to lose.

I never said Israel bought them out, I said that these regimes are propped up by Israel through the US. When Democracy was established in Palestine, Hamas was chosen. The problem with arab "democracy" is that they have a tendency to vote in governments that quickly become dictatorships. Hamas may be democratically elected, but a democratic government that violently silences it's opponents is no longer democratic. Look at Nazi Germany. That government was democratically elected, but morphed into a dictatorship. A good way to gauge a "democracy" is the way they treat their political opponents. Think about it.

Well the fact is there is no real Arab democracy yet so everything has a start. Palestine is a special case with turmoil so Hamas isn't really a good representative of Arab democracy. Lebanon is a better representative but even there you sometimes have Syria and Israel interfering with their political affairs. In other words, none of the countries have had the chance to really experience it. Iraq is starting to but the war is still raging.

Remember that in many of these countries (mainly Lebanon and Palestine) are still in deep conflict whether internally or with neighbors. So you can't compare them with more stable nations such as Egypt, Saudi and so on.

My conclusion is, the people never had the chance to freely elect without internal or external pressure who they want. It's not like New Zealand for example where it's in a peaceful area where no one is interfering with them. The middle east has multiple large and small scale conflicts thus hampering any political system regardless of what it is. Funny bawad, Israel is in the middle of a war zone with all it's neighbors calling for it's destruction, yet everyone in Israel votes, their votes get counted, and the government changes accordingly. In any case, whatever government is in Israel today is just a temporary government. If they do the wrong thing, they're out. This is democracy.

Israel is actually a far safer country than you might believe, they can strike anywhere at anytime and take down anyone around it with little opposition. The arabs on the other hand have no power whatsoever so actually Israel is more at peace than it's neighbors because it's being protected by the world's most advanced nations with all means.

For example, Iran. Iran has neither the military power nor the super power support of Israel. There missles could be easily shot down by Israel but the problem comes from the fallout that might still happened due to the explosion. In other words, Israel is in the middle of a warzone yet it's actually the safest place there. It's military has every single movement nearby monitored and the freedom to strike with no warning or opposition. That's what I call safety.

If Iran launches a nuke at Israel, I can assure you they can shoot it down over Iraq or at least Jordon. The few rockets fired by Hamas and Hezbollah are a joke. Do you actually believe these rockets are a threat? plus remember that theres a US navy in the Mediterranean protecting Israel (I think it's the 3rd or 6th fleet) so Israel is far safer than any of its nearby countries. Anything might happened to the others but Israel is probably the most fortified place on earth.

What I meant by all of this is that Israel can practice any form of government they want (even a hard core dictatorship) with little opposition from anyone. The others are shades of countries, sovereign countries by name only. Even rogue Iran is actually a Russian, Chinese ally and soon slave.

Yes Bawad, I lived in Israel from 2002-2004, and it is a safe country. The streets are safe, there is hardly any crime, and the military is strong. Still though, this is not a coincidence. Israel is strong because it's a democracy, because they do things the right way, while their neighbors don't.
