By this time, I was not as big a Hogan fan anymore, but this angel was his best, because in addition to being very emotional and Earthquake getting heat from the fans, it showed Hogan in a different light. He was not the big 'superhero' who was as indestructable as people thought..and they REALLY thought he would quit the business. I know this was probably for him to take time off, but the great days of kayfabe before the internet had us really thinking this was it for him. Well done guys!
Hey emotion is emotion regardless of age. Hulk Hogan touched millions of people just like Ali or Jordan. They go beyond their sport. The music that accompanies this video is also very powerful and emmotive.
This had me sad for many reasons, Im 28, and I have memories of this. And looking at it now. Liz is gone, mACH IS GONE, Warrior hates him, Shiek hates him. I really miss the innocence of wrestling
This still brings tears to my eyes to this day. I was four when this happened. Wrestling today just doesn't have this sort of drama and build up today.....
I remember this like it was yesterday. My friend called this video 'Scary Music' because the music was scary. We were not sure if he would ever come back.
This is one the most emotional promos ever brother. The one good thing that came out of it though was the introduction of the fourth demandment BELIEVING IN YOURSELF. HULKAMANIA WILL LIVE FOREVER BROTHER!
Wow me watching this brought back some painful memories in 1990. now i'm 46 years old and i still cried when this happened. Long Live the Kayfabe.... and long live WWF golden era.
@tonshaad1230 Ok if you are 46 now that means you were 25 in 1990 and you were crying when Earthquake attacked Hogan...Ok i was 9 then and i cried but the thing is i was NINE!!!! you were 25 BAHAHAHAHA!!
This is why kayfabe is so important. It's pretty much gone now but as a kid, you believed every second and had an emotional attachment. Nowadays, The Big Show can throw John Cena through a huge spotlight and Cena comes back the next night. There's no reason for emotional investment anymore. Thanks for the video!
@RAV52 So true.. this is crazy, how we call all relate to this one moment when we really thought the great estforce, person and hero really died or something.
Bobby Heenan put it best when he said Hogan should be remembered as the biggest attraction in the history of wrestling. He talked about seeing grown men and women in the front row crying when Hogan went down.
i remember when they aired this because hogan(kayfabe) was injured but actually did a movie called suburban commando at that time and wanted to take more time off
Reading these comments and watching this video shows me everyone cared for this man. I was around 32? when I sent this man a Post-card saying get well soon, me and my neighbors were in awe. For the first time we didn't do anything but just watch.
I remember this. I had it on VHS and my dad recorded over it thinking it was his tape. Man I was PISSED! My friend called this 'Scary Music' when Earthquake came down.
I soo wanted Miss Elizabeth to still manage him.. I liked their chemistry together.. it seemed very qenuine unlike her relationship with Randy that just seemed so controlling..
Im not ashamed to admit but I actualy wrote letter to Hulk so im a Hulkamania 4 life.
As a kid I remember seeing the tribute video on SUPERSTARS when I was in TJ. Earthquake was my favorite heel and it was cool of Hogan to put Earthquake over too bad its didnt work on Tugboat.
The bit that puts tears in my eyes is when Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior hug eachother. This really brings back so many memories. I will be a Hulkamaniac FOREVER!!! LONG LIVE HULKAMANIA BROTHER!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I didnt like Hogan when I was a kid, so I laughed my ass off when this happened. And when they played this tribute I laughed like a friggin maniac everytime it showed Earthquake doing the sitdown splash. My friends were ready to sacrifice me to get their hero back. Well not literally, but they were pissed at me to say the least. Ah, the memories! :)
Classic WWF/E at its best. The reason why Earthquake put Hogan out of action for awhile was because Hulk had to shoot that crappy "Suburban Commando" movie. Oh, and his then-wife Linda was giving birth to son Nick.
BTW, I didn't fall for the "Get Well Hulk" gimmick.
i remember seeing this video on hulkamania IV coliseum home video version & didnt they do the evil sinister theme for the hulk slaughter WWF Title Wrestlemania VII Buildup as well?
@romans52345 i remember renting that video was that the video where i think i saw that on wwe 247 demand where hogan was behind the scenes of suburband commando as a reason in a storyline to take off to film for the summer of 1990 for a fall 1991 release ironically his feud in late 1991 the undertaker we all know is in that film lol
Hahahaha, finally found it!!! Thank you very much for posting, I watched this when it was broadcasted in 1990 through Eurosport....... Great wrestling days and indeed, fantastic video editting. Hulkamania will live forever!!
The WWF (now the WWE) always had EXCELLENT video editing. This was very well put together by the World Wrestling Federation - especially the sad music and slowed-down sequences.
I remeber this! I was a kid back then and I though it was the end of Hulkamania. They did a good job with this story arc. Hyping up Earthquake and getting the kids all sad, so that when Hogan came back and beat Earthquake everyone was all happy.
The one thing that would put some spice on this video package is WWE re-editting this, and putting Ron Simmons on the screen where he could say, "Damn".
it's strange how all the kids back then all cried because of Earthquake's vicious attack.... you know what's strange....John Tenta (Earthquake) is now dead (as a result of bladder cancer) and Hogan is still alive and well.... how ironic....is it just me or is there somthing wrong with that picture????
Classic! I remember seeing this from a dingy VHS when I was 6 or 7. I was a massive Hulkamaniac and genuinely distraught when I saw what Earthquake did, he became the ultimate bad guy. It's a laugh what they (WWF) do to poor kids making them think that John Tenta really did crush Terry Bollea. Of course now I know what Hogan is like (a douchebag) and I couldn't care less if some guy crushed him. But still this vid is such a vivid memory, thanks a mill for posting.
i hate how theyre trying to make Cena the ultimate hero like The Rock or Hogan, they should simply realize hes just too corny to ever be the main WWE hero, they should focus on someone else, any suggestions?
I think Taker & HBK have been pretty big heroes over the years. But my all time favorite "good guys" will always be Hulk Hogan & Bret Hart. Because even if you believed wrestling was all fake, you always knew you can belive what they told you.
i remember watching this on TV and crying my eyes out as he was stretchered off, i hated Earthquake so much, i sent Hogan a card and i got 1 back, i was so happy to have recieved a reply even though it was a generic one!! I was 10 years old, im now 27 and im still a hulkamaniac!!!

Hulkamania rules 4 life!!!! I sent Hogan a postcard and he actually sent one back in return like he promised. Even though it was a generic one that they sent out to every one. As a kid just knowing that they sent one to your house was kool.
