ha hahah im 16 and i have to play this tomorrow for my school jazz band. im 16! shoot im kinda close up on him! but if i had greg allman in the family id be better!
dont know what but considering who the boy grew up with and who taught him to play I'd BET he KNEW the music theory and the changes...if he didn't I think his bass player would've shown him...or Gregg... or ... Dickie ... ummm... wow ...
I agree that , yeah , to play like this at any age is great, but...this is so typical of so many who THINK they can actually play JAzz..without actually knowing ANY music theory c'mon fellas ! This ain't no 3 chord melody..there's something called "substitutions" here. bending and holding a note through a whole measure is a cop out.

he's not doing the tune any justice coltrane solo just makes coltrane look that much better if your calling a tune like this you better be able to play over it not some bs blues licks
You do realize trucks was only 16 at the time of this performance. But no shit nobody can do Coltrane justice thats common sense. I would suggest seeing Trucks live, hes amazed me time and time again, hes the best I've ever seen perform.
damn yonrico scott and todd smallie!

I expected better from him, this isn't that hard a song to play. The whole band was good though, as a unit, which they should be.

AWESOME. Coltrane owns this song, but Trucks pulls a nice one on this.
