Ayrton Senna is a true legend. He is the best at what he did and had many talents, driving and racing were only two of them. Look at what Senna did for his country and how he helped so many other drivers. Honda NSX - a breakthrough and masterpiece of physics - set up and co-developed by Mr Senna himself!
@minitrueful i know you are just a damn troll stirring the pot, but if senna didnt understand physics, there is no way he could make the car dance at the limit like he did. he was constantly at the edge of what his tires could do considering he had over 1200hp going to the rear ones. if you are constantly gambling with fate and your own talents, you will eventually lose out as what sadly happened in senna's case.
@minitrueful Piece of shit. How could you say that to one of the biggest drivers in the F1?? You dont have any respect to this sport. So please, dont write anymore in a F1 video. You motherfucker.
@killer1990Yeah Don't know how old you are, but I suspect you never saw him race, otherwise you'd know what the fuss was about. It's widely believed that his fatal accident was caused by his steering column breaking, not by him 'messing up'.
When he was a kid he used to train kart every single day, the family chauffeur said one day Senna asked him to help him to skip school to train in the rain 'cause could not keep his kart on the track the day before. The chauffeur helped him without telling his parents. Senna was known as king of the rain. That's what I heard and I believe it's true if not I still think he was and as well as one the greatest racers ever. R.I.P. Senna
Anyone who watched the top gear documentary, please do some research and watch A LOT more vids on the guy.
Anyone could have done the documentary that Clarkson did, and he didnt show the amazing lap he did at Suzuka 89, or talk about the drive from 14th to 1st to win his 1st championship, or the drive at Oz 91.....
BTW, Bruno Senna is as good as any of the guys he is racing, he's just had so little experience, trust me, I saw him in F3... when he knows the car, he's just awesome
I never could understood the comment "life flash before him". If you're going to die then it's death that flashing before your eyes ...not life. It's when you're being born that life flashes before you. That's more logical.
@MrNeedForSpeed7 He won 7 because lack of competition. When senna wouldnt died, schumi never would won 7. And pitty Jaques villeneuve left williams for bar, he was the last who could compete with shumi.
i think that, that accident it wasn't an accident if you know what I meen ... I think that someone somehow made some things at his car ... obviusly he had what he wanted: Ayrton was out of the F1 :(
Senna will always stay one of the best drivers of Formula 1. too bad we never could have seen him race against schumacher in the B194 (because he retired the first 2 races of the season early on). and then with Hill as his team mate, it would have been a great season (and it still is if you dont count the tragic deaths of senna and ratzenberger).
Senna was dealt a poor Williams. He got on pole for the first three races. But maybe Imola he pushed too hard. Apart from Schumacher, G.Villeneuve, Hill, Stewart, Clarke, Fangio.... Senna was the best.
My respects to Schumacher, Prost, Hill, G.Villeneuve, the brilliant Clarke and the Great Fangio. But Senna was definitely the best of the all F1 champion drivers.

schumacher isnt even in the same league as Senna,Micheal has always drove decent cars ,senna kicks ass in cars that were less powerfull, and was a master in the rain, like a modern day fangio, being caring about others is something senna did,and give big amount of money to charity ,im not so sure Micheal does the same, check the eric comas incident with senna, now thats what you call a great man, schumaker is good but senna in the same car would beat him im sure,f1 just isnt the same without him
Somehow his death has achieved something I doubt he would want. The forgetting of Roland Ratzenberger, the man who died on the same track a day before he did. It is said that in the wreckage of his car he carried the flag of Austria to salute the late Ratzenbeger in his victory lap such a shame he could not do it. May both of them never be forgotten and live long in our hearts.
senna was the greatest driver of all times in formula 1 ... with a little toleman in his maiden f1 race he came 2nd in the wet challenging prost for the 1st place! senna is still amazing in our hearts! schumacher won 7 titles cause he had few drivers to compete with ... he had hakkinen and alonso and montoya and that's it while senna had prost mansell lauda hill and many others that were world champions! god rests ayrton senna's soul!!!

people are saying that schmacher is better, each and every driver are better than the other in their own right. Im not disagreeing with anyone but people say senna wouldnt have one a few of schmachers titles, but if you think of button last year hes been in it for nearly ten years and hes winning know, same with webber they are winning now. Times change senna could have had a great car inb later years and he may of stopped schmacher being the legand he is.
I never will forget this men and beautiful soul that not only was the best in his career but he also helped the needed. He made sure that there taken care of. There is a Hospital in Sao Paulo where he donated money to rebuild is the AACD for children with disabilities and thankful to Senna they have a better hospital.
He is a blessed soul and he is immortal. I will never forget him.
There are a lot of things that make a great man let alone a great f1 driver. No other man F1 depicted all the qualities as well as Ayrton Senna. He was the most talented driver of HIS era, yes in my opinion he owned that chapter of the sport and Michael simply picked up where the greatest driver left off. But there will always be the gentle side of Ayrton that will be the dividing factor between a simple successful driver and a well respected one. A perfect example is Ayrton saving Eric Comas.
senna predicted a lot of crashes fot that season, because of some rule changes, the day before his death annother driver from asutria died in a trening (can't remeber the name)
Senna was complaing about Tamburelo being unsafe. Rubens Barrichelo crashed so bad he swallowed his tounge and then Senna died 2 days later during the race.
Greatest driver ever. Sad ending to a great career, he was in the car that was the best for the next 4 years and would have at least equalled Fangio's 5 titles. No blame for Williams, that's just racing.
Just imagine if the crash hadn't finished him, he'd be god knows how many times world champion by now, and would've forced the FIA's safety rule changes that would've saved his life and many others. Well thanks to Senna's crash, they DID a great deal to improve safety, well let's hope there are never any more fatal incidents.
. By the comments you get from people i think your pretty well hated. Im pleased that you are smart and have seen a car fail and send someone hard into the walls countless times. Really sorry i havent, lived all these years and havent seen that happen. Any chance you could make us a home demo?
Your right about racing it is dangerous . no one driver is perfect but some thing clearly went wrong with the steering , when your cranking on the wheels to turn left and they going straight ? any way this has been protested for the last 15 years ... I know people that are mentally handicaped , it would suck being in a wheelchair or if you could not talk .. move your hands , or walk... does that make me a retard to ? Be a man choose better words....peace
great video. And of course, so hard to believe that it's nearly SIXTEEN years to the day since he died. In many ways it's like F1 has been in limbo since....
I dont want to be the Ayrton Senna. I want him back. I think you undestood my point. Yes... i want to be a great pilot as Senna was.,But in deep of my Heart , i really want Ayrton Senna back.
Sorry if i wrote something wrong. I am learnig the english language. If i did any mistake , please tell me. I want to go to heaven and meet the Ayrton Senna there. The sad part is , I only have 25 years old and Will take a while for me to die. T T
Not arguing who's better, but I believe one thing Senna had way above Schummie is charisma. He would never accept a teammate to let him pass. This is unacceptable for ones who love the sport, Senna would never accept to win like that.
Nice video, though I doubt if life flashed before him it'd consist of racing only. Probably just a small part because he lived fully outside the car as well.
As for people saying he'd have taken many more titles if he was alive, it's nice to think that but remember the motivation factor. After Prost retired Senna lost a lot of his motivation to compete (he admitted it himself). I doubt he'd have stayed long enough before retiring while at his peak. My guess is he'd have done 94 and 95 only.
Schumacher was a cheat , been proven, he till this day has nothing on ARTON, Only reason he matched ARTON on points was because the man had passed away . ...peace
@pdrga An interesting pont. I had never considered that before. WOuld have been an immense period of racing had he survived to battle Schumacher throught the late 90s though
Ayrton was a very intense thinker............At a press conference towards the end of his career he was asked who was the best driver he ever raced against and he stunned the assembled F1 journalists when he replied,"Terry Fullerton".......He's the driver seen above at 50secs leading Ayrton at the World Kart Championship Estoril 1979.
did anyone else feel empty watching that. I mean in a way that you see his last moments alive then watching him literally grow up in front of our eyes, training and learning the skills of becoming a champion, but knowing that he is no longer walking upon this earth because he did what he loved.
For me is impossibile to compare Senna and Schumacher. Senna was a gentlemen and a fantastic human. I don´t recognize those atributes in schumacher...
schumacher has been portrayed a certain way in the media. Read a few of the books about him to get an appreciation of what kind of human he was. He was able to create such a atmosphere in the whole team with his social skills that lead to his success. He made the janitors of the team feel special. He never said I won that race, it was always 'we'. Perhaps Senna was a gentleman off the track, but he certainly was not on the track and this ontrack mentality contributed to his success.
passion......senna was and embodied racing passion..... schumacher embodied a business like approach to racing... yes he is an absolute gentleman off the track and so too was senna i believe.... its very hard, chalk and cheese... its like comparing rossi and say doohan, much loved, both greats but different personalities.. both greats of the sport without a doubt but senna embodied racing passion much more than michael did.. check out "racing is in my blood" film on senna if you havent already.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
senna was roughly 34 when he died. I doubt very very much if he even would have been racing long enough to really challenge Michael. Michael was already beating him in this year convincingly. So would he have won 5 of michael's 7 world titles. Lets be realistic. a slim chance he might have won 2 of them. IMO he didn't have the maturity and mental strength that schumacher got. he was too firey and hot headed as he so often demonstrated. it was a win or don't bother finishing attitude his downfal
can not disagree more with you... it was win or die, senna saw every race as one he could win. he looked at the race instead of a championship... he was a real racer in the same way as gilles villeneuve was. senna was something to behold. schumacher, yes he was good but he had to have all the cards in his hand, i believe senna would have given schumacher a run for his money in 1994 and 1995 and then retired. as for senna not having the maturityor mental strength?? i dont understand that at all.
My comment about maturity and mental strength was directly related to the incident at Suzuka after Senna qualified on Pole but wanted to be on the other side of the track. He said that if Alain beat him into turn 1, then he would take them both out of the race. And he did. This is how a child behaves. If I don't get what I want, I will throw a tantrum. Mental strength: Although I am faced with a problem here, I know I have the speed and ability to win anyway fare and square. Why didn't he?
yeah ok, good point but the prost senna thing went a lot further than simply crash or win. it became an intensely personal thing between the two. it was a culmination of the tension between the top two racers of the time. ayrton had a point about the pole being situated on the wrong side and he saw this, rihtly, as an attack from the fisa. it went much much deeper than a tantrum...but i do take your point. heart ruled over his head. maybe thats why he was loved and why he loved racing....
kileenjj "Michael was already beating him in this year convincingly"
Have to disagree there, as Senna's car was crap for the first two races. Imola Senna did 1 racing lap, lap 6. It took low fuel and a rubber laid track at the end of the race, for Hill and Schumacher to beat his time.
We never got to see what would have happened with Senna v Schumacher. And will always be what would have happened with the Williams car and it's improvements, and who would have won.

when exactly did Schumacher beat Senna?do you mean the overtake in Brazil during the pit stop using no fuel filters?...he didn't manage to beat him in 1993 when he had a faster car give me a reason to do it in 94...i really don't get it when people say we can not compare those 2...these 2 raced against each in 1993 with Schumacher driving the better car and the result was 5 wins to 1 for Senna...what do you need more?do they have to race for ever to be clear who the best is?
Ayrton would now be an elder statesman of Grand Prix racing & no doubt a fantastic ambassador for F1..Well into his retirement by now & IMO would have taken at least 5 of Schumachers' 7 world drivers titles..which would mean 9 championships all told to Schumi's 4..Senna would have forever been the benchmark for other drivers never to get near..Tragically fate stepped in & took the great man from us..RIP Ayrton..
You don't even the balls to drive a formula 1 car you're despicable. How can you disregard another humans life and say he deserved to die because his car lost ALL downforce. Right now if killing you meant aryton senna comes back many people would find you. You totally deserve to die for being such a prick.

He is one of the greatest drivers ever and a sad loss for the racing family.
RIP Senna.

schumacher isnt even in the same league as Senna,Micheal has always drove decent cars ,senna kicks ass in cars that were less powerfull, and was a master in the rain, like a modern day fangio, being caring about others is something senna did,and give big amount of money to charity ,im not so sure Micheal does the same, check the eric comas incident with senna, now thats what you call a great man, schumaker is good but senna in the same car would beat him im sure,f1 just isnt the same without him

May both of them never be forgotten and live long in our hearts.

people are saying that schmacher is better, each and every driver are better than the other in their own right.

My guess is he'd have done 94 and 95 only.
hristoitchov 2 years ago
Maybe not. I think Schumacher would become a challenge for Senna. I guess Senna would stop in 98 or 99.

For me is impossibile to compare Senna and Schumacher. Senna was a gentlemen and a fantastic human. I don´t recognize those atributes in schumacher...
LFSL001 2 years ago 3
schumacher has been portrayed a certain way in the media. Read a few of the books about him to get an appreciation of what kind of human he was. He was able to create such a atmosphere in the whole team with his social skills that lead to his success. He made the janitors of the team feel special. He never said I won that race, it was always 'we'. Perhaps Senna was a gentleman off the track, but he certainly was not on the track and this ontrack mentality contributed to his success.
kileenjj 2 years ago
passion......senna was and embodied racing passion..... schumacher embodied a business like approach to racing... yes he is an absolute gentleman off the track and so too was senna i believe.... its very hard, chalk and cheese... its like comparing rossi and say doohan, much loved, both greats but different personalities.. both greats of the sport without a doubt but senna embodied racing passion much more than michael did.. check out "racing is in my blood" film on senna if you havent already.

senna was roughly 34 when he died. I doubt very very much if he even would have been racing long enough to really challenge Michael. Michael was already beating him in this year convincingly. So would he have won 5 of michael's 7 world titles. Lets be realistic. a slim chance he might have won 2 of them. IMO he didn't have the maturity and mental strength that schumacher got. he was too firey and hot headed as he so often demonstrated. it was a win or don't bother finishing attitude his downfal
kileenjj 2 years ago
can not disagree more with you... it was win or die, senna saw every race as one he could win. he looked at the race instead of a championship... he was a real racer in the same way as gilles villeneuve was. senna was something to behold. schumacher, yes he was good but he had to have all the cards in his hand, i believe senna would have given schumacher a run for his money in 1994 and 1995 and then retired. as for senna not having the maturityor mental strength?? i dont understand that at all.
paulboggan 2 years ago
My comment about maturity and mental strength was directly related to the incident at Suzuka after Senna qualified on Pole but wanted to be on the other side of the track. He said that if Alain beat him into turn 1, then he would take them both out of the race. And he did. This is how a child behaves. If I don't get what I want, I will throw a tantrum. Mental strength: Although I am faced with a problem here, I know I have the speed and ability to win anyway fare and square. Why didn't he?
kileenjj 2 years ago
yeah ok, good point but the prost senna thing went a lot further than simply crash or win. it became an intensely personal thing between the two. it was a culmination of the tension between the top two racers of the time. ayrton had a point about the pole being situated on the wrong side and he saw this, rihtly, as an attack from the fisa. it went much much deeper than a tantrum...but i do take your point. heart ruled over his head. maybe thats why he was loved and why he loved racing....
paulboggan 2 years ago
I would agree.
kileenjj 2 years ago
maturity to cheat????
maconhadalata 2 years ago
kileenjj "Michael was already beating him in this year convincingly"
