owe he has both testicals he has big ones at that. He is just not use to breeding or he hasn't done it in a while but he got the job done so as long as he gets the job done then hey then i have wonderfull cute babies'
wow thank you very much yeah i did take her twice to his cage she is a lionhead/standard rex cross and she has had a litter of 5 babies when the other person had her. i wrote the dates down when they were bred and when she took so i know when if she did i will know when she has babies. thank you for all the information given to me.
i was wondering how many times did you take the doe to the bucks cage during that day because my standard rex did the same thing but i still don understand it. he is two years old but she is only about close to a year and she has had a litter of 5 before i got her is just because it is a new buck or when would she be in heat or when would i be able to breed her.
@pitbulllover45 I put them together once in the morning then at least 1 more time about 12hrs later. rabbits don't go into heat, they release an egg upon conception and should be ready to breed after 6-9 months of age depending on the type of rabbit
@pitbulllover45 also, the buck may be your problem. If he has not been "proven" then he may be sterile. It is not uncommon for a buck to have had his testicles chewed off as a baby bunny when with his brothers and sisters.
@pitbulllover45 Rabbits don't go into heat cycles. They can be bred at any time after they've come of age. Does can be about six months old when you breed them, but it is recommended that they be older than that. You may use the same buck up to about three times in one day on the same doe, or on different does. You may put a doe in with a buck once, receive a breeding, and then put her in with him again an hour later. Do not breed the same doe on different days as dual pregnancies can occur.
me and my snake's that eat rabbit's because my boa's are getting to big to be eating rats anymore.
so any help would be great thankyou
and to all the haters who don't like the rabbit breeding for meat just get over it because nothing is going to change and they are not going to make illegal to breed for meat and they never will. so you are wasting your time.
okay so i have a question what size does a standard rex weigh in pounds i have a 2 year old standard rex female doe and when i get back from vacation i am going to breed her with my american sable buck which is 3 months old or later on i have to wait until my father comes over and builds me a 7 hutch cage so i can start breeding.
so would you say a standard rex would be good meat or something because i know standard rex rabbits have alot more meat on them then bone. i was breeding them for
love the vid. Nice to see more people returning to the rabbits for meat world in this time of ever increasing prices and ever dwindling supplies. Not to mention raising it yourself it has a far superior taste.
I just mated my doe n buck 11/11...my doe is 4months buck 1yr my question is does all matings bring babie bunnys???by the way the doe life her tail each time my buck climbed on...I'm hoping I can add the nesting box 28days well less then that now lol
A rabbit is 85% or so meat the bone is very light thats why they can hop so fast. There is no difference in taste of the meat. I raised and sold alot of meat rabbits when I was in high school. I had a standing order from 1 older couple who would buy all the meat rabbits I had every 2 months it was good money for sure. Sell off 20 dressed rabbits all at once. Some farmers markets will buy dressed rabbits for their stores.
they are domestic animals just like dogs and cats , they are a pet to be cherised not wild game. try selling them as pets . this is lazy work and cruel.
@killmemyqueen Maybe so but I don't approve. Their will come the day when you will not be able to do that. As soon as the rabbit Companion Pet Status happens, which will put rabbits in the same class as other pet companions, you will not be able to raise rabbits for food. Just like you can't raise dogs or cats for food consumption, you won't be able to use rabbits either. Believe me when I say it will happen, it will indeed happen. Rabbits & Guinea Pig are on the ballet for companion status.
@theart1rm it will never happen, there are too many people who raise them as food, you may not know this but they are also commersially farmed, go to a high class resturant and find out, and even if it does become illegal (which it wont) I will still raise them, just becuase alot of people see them as pets doesnt mean they cant be used as food, rabbits have been farmed for centuries, and thats just one of those things that cant be illegalized, it would be like making goats, chickens, illegal
@killmemyqueen Its not like people eat there pets , these rabbits are raised as food, just like cows are raised for food, where does the line start that tells what is pet and what is food. they are not mistreated in there life, thes rabbits are going to have a better life then any cow you eat ever will, and also this speices is one of the main speices used for meat, most pet rabbits are lionheads or floppy eares, you wont see people eating those, in peru people even eat guinea pigs,
@mzTayTay17 you can start breeding them aroound the age of 9 months-1 yr old. If you really feed them a high cal diet you can dispatch them at the age of 8-12 weeks bbut I try to feed more naturally so it takes a feww weeks longer.
@rocketboy1115 sorry it took me so long to answer your questions, I keep them seperated most of the time and most people will reccommend that. The reason is that if they mate again in say a week the doe can spontainiously abort if she is already pregnant. As for being able to tell if she is pregnant, well that I can never tell for sure I just wait and see. Let me know if I can be of further help.
@outofworkbum thanks buddy, i think thats the reason why my doe isn't getting pregnant, they're in the same cage and they are banging for more than a month now.
Your buck could school mine, he thinks he has to romance the ladies for a while before he gets down to business. Kinda tedious when your on a busy schedule! I am working with the New Zealand/Flemmish crosses as well. I cross a Flemmish buck with a New Zealand Doe to get a good meat kit.
@snemelka I don't know the exact ratio, but there is plenty of meat for a family of four to eat off of a 6-8 lb rabbit with leftovers. And I have not eaten any of mine yet but have had crosses before and I would never be able to tell the difference in taste, maybe some could but not me.
hehe, sorry:) I was referring to how quickly the male gets to his job. It's nice to see that it doesn't take coercion or a rain dance. (I'm studying breeding and raising rabbits)
Great vid bud I'm just now starting to this rabbit breedeing thing so it's great info. My buck just started to mount the doe for the first time today when I put them toguether, does he have to literally fall over to have done the job right? My rabbits are flemish giants but I'm not so sure of their age? They are however 8 pounds, any idea how many month they are? Thanks in advance for any info?
@fishfnatic thanks for the comment, I am pretty new to the rabbit breeding as well but I do know that most of the time the male will fall over or do something dramatic when successful. The 2 biggest tips I have been told are: to wait until they are at least 9 months old and to let them get together in the am and then approx 12 hrs later to be sure it was a successfull mating. Do not let them mate again within the 30 days or so because it can cause a miscarrige, that's about all I know, Good Luck
@svsteve065 thanks, during the summer I feed them grass and weeds mostly with some blue seal pellets, and during the winter I hit up local pizza places to save the scrap veggies from the salads and subs or whatnot. I have 7 full sized rabbits and a 50lb bag of pellets will last me about 2 months or more in the summer.
I agree. Sure looks like a coupling to me...lol I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that would happen with two of the same sex. They might play at it as a show of dominance or something, but the flop over to the side thing --not so much. I see that as the bunny equivalent to having a smoke.
