wow i just had that happen to me today....and the road wasn't wet nor icy and i was driving at 60 mph. the reason? somebody didn't check their blind spot/use their blinkers and changed lanes into me. fortunately everyone was okay, and i didn't hit anything or anybody, but it was scary as hell! =( so to everyone: CHECK YOUR BLIND SPOTS AND USE YOUR BLINKERS BEFORE CHANGING LANES!!!

Did you see the brake lights lit up steadily on the car? Hitting the brakes is the last thing you want to do when you are skidding - it only takes away your ability to steer the car. Anti-lock brakes or not. If you're sliding sideways - your tires are not rolling, and you are helpless. Your only hope is to steer into the skid and get the tires rolling again - then you'll have some steering control. Take your feet away from the pedals! Then steer into the slide, changing direction as it does.
