@dr8u1 there are at least 300 veyron as of 2008, which could be a lot more now. and i dont see any full statistic on ssc aero sale, there is some data but usually auctioned cars and 24 2007 version, total ssc aero would be around 50-100 i think.. clearly i can see which car won the people's choice even with large price difference, not to mention that most ssc buyer came from the same country where the car came from..
ultimate aero is a better car as far as performance goes blows the doors off this veyron.shit even a 1995 mclaren f1 pulls away from this car off the line and thru 5 gears until the top end of the 4 added turbos helps the veyron nudge ahead
@jak4cars Most of the other vids, the drivers just sit there in automatic, then floor it, no building up revs or anything. This one he got the rev's up a bit, then went for it. The launch control does a great job, seriously quick car :D
If I remember correctly this is an earlier Veyron video. It's possible that this is a prototype car, and they used a little less torque management on the launch seen here. I would imagine they wanted to save the transmissions on the production cars.

Yes, but is it worth the money? You can build one hell of a car for a fraction of the price of a Veyron. I've seen 4 of these cars face to face, one of which Im really good friends with the owner. I have been in the car before, I have witnessed a WOT pull, and I have sat in it for 3 hours strait driving to a big party, Its a great car. But its not a driving car. Its not meant to go 250mph. Its meant to be bragged about. No owner will ever run the car even near that fast.
You guys are really missing the entire point of this video. Listen to the time between the guy's grunt and his 60 call. It's like 2.8 sec! Then listen to his 100 call. It is like 1.2 second later!! Then listen to all the other calls up through 210. The entire trek takes less than 11 seconds! That's mind-blowing thrust from a street legal PRODUCTION car that you can buy off the showroom floor.
So, while you guys argue the minutia, just appreciate the engineering that went into the Veyron.

I LOVE Top Gear but it isn't really factual. You can tell Richard went easy on the throttle and even so did the Stig. These aren't their cars and I'm sure the owners don't want them neglected on full throttle, wheel spinning starts. Now if Hammond launched it like the guy here, the Bugatti would of had it won from the very beginning. The AWD would counter the McLaren's lighter weight but Top Gear is there to entertain so it didn't happen.
Btw I'd still take the McLaren F1 over the Bugatti.
Add also the torque, perhaps one of the most neglected factor in the topic. Veyron (1225 Nm from 2200 rpm) got it quicker than Mclaren F1(649 Nm at 6000 rpm). You are right that Veyron will get quicker due to its grip .

That's true..but this has 4wd, so there's less spin...and the time lapse between 0-100 isn't that much, so i believe the speedo in this case.

Ive seen street driven cars putting down 1500rwhp. That will do the same pull that Veyron did in half the time, a forth the turbos, and half the cylinders, not to mention a tenth the price.
I have much more respect for a fast car thats been built and worked on by its owner. Not some stuck up old bastard in a million dollar car.

They may be able to churn out a lot of horses, but they won't go as fast. You can make the biggest fucking engine you want, but if you put it in a street car chasis, the car will just fall apart.

umm what?? first the veyron's average top speed was 252 which means it can go around 270 with perfect gear shifts. Yes, but is it worth the money? You can build one hell of a car for a fraction of the price of a Veyron. I've seen 4 of these cars face to face, one of which Im really good friends with the owner. I have been in the car before, I have witnessed a WOT pull, and I have sat in it for 3 hours strait driving to a big party, Its a great car. But its not a driving car. Its not meant to go 250mph. Its meant to be bragged about. No owner will ever run the car even near that fast.

You guys are really missing the entire point of this video. Listen to the time between the guy's grunt and his 60 call. It's like 2.8 sec! Then listen to his 100 call. It is like 1.2 second later!! Then listen to all the other calls up through 210. The entire trek takes less than 11 seconds! That's mind-blowing thrust from a street legal PRODUCTION car that you can buy off the showroom floor.
So, while you guys argue the minutia, just appreciate the engineering that went into the Veyron.

I LOVE Top Gear but it isn't really factual. You can tell Richard went easy on the throttle and even so did the Stig. These aren't their cars and I'm sure the owners don't want them neglected on full throttle, wheel spinning starts. Now if Hammond launched it like the guy here, the Bugatti would of had it won from the very beginning. The AWD would counter the McLaren's lighter weight but Top Gear is there to entertain so it didn't happen.
Btw I'd still take the McLaren F1 over the Bugatti.

Add also the torque, perhaps one of the most neglected factor in the topic. Veyron (1225 Nm from 2200 rpm) got it quicker than Mclaren F1(649 Nm at 6000 rpm). You are right that Veyron will get quicker due to its grip .
