And the Byzantine Empire, the eastern half of the Roman Empire lasted almost a millennium longer before it too fell. Those big empires never run out of enemies. Once they conquer one group another comes along to take their place.

Our concept of homossexuality didn't exist for the greeks. When analysing an ancient society, we shouldn't use elements of our modern culture to understand them. The greeks which were "citzens" had a great respect of each other, because they recognized an equal, as women were considered inferior. It was common in their culture to have a male lover, mainly when they were young as Alexander.

It was not only accepted to have homosexual relations, but a status thing. Hellenization was all about assimilation..taking on cultural aspects of dominated regions, try to find history about Italy before the Greeks...almost everything the Western culture does now can be traced back to something Greek. However, Aristotle did spread rumors around of Hephaistion and Alexander being lovers, but they were never verified.

history is a living science, not a greek fairytale.
perhaps you want to read that nice document: the greek constitution of 1827 and read some history from the 1800s, to find out what kind of people started to call themselves greek.
there are plenty of european accounts on the matter, then you can do a dna test to find out which ethnic group you belong to.
