These are both beautiful island nations, and both countries are very well known for having strong brave warriors within their histories. I know nothing about rugby, I just know that theres two teams and a ball. But from someone who doesn't get it at all, I've gotta say that these parts of the match are amazing to watch. This match is particularly my favorite because you can just go back in time and imagine samurai stoically standing in front of their chanting Māori warrior opponents.
Took some boys on a school Rugby tour from Australia. I had to beg the parents to not get the boys to sing back "Advance Australia Fair".
The only appropriate response to the haka is to stand shoulder to shoulder with your team mates and keep your mouth shut. You stand and accept the challenge. Anything you do just looks wannabe and pathetic
not only is it an honour to perform the haka for those who get to but it must equally be an honour for those facing it (who know what its about) to get the full experience i know it gives me chills when i get to see it at stadiums from the side lines... how awsome must it be for the people facing it head on?
@notmemate which shows u have a respect for it, for it to strike fear is a good thing in my opinion but at the same time it must be such a good rush to be able to see it face to face
I can only assume the Japanese realised half way through that they have to take on these monsters. But fair play to them for standing there and showing respect!

You should be embracing Japanese rugby. Are you guys retarded or what?
I know alot of you are Kiwis and this might surprise you. But 99% of rugby fans outside of New Zealand are PISSED that you are hosting the next world cup.
EVERYONE wants Japan to host it. It's a complete travesty that they aren't! The Asian market is a key goal in furthering rugbys global popularity.
Last WC Japan lost to Fiji by only 4 points! The same number WALES LOST to Fiji by
Maybe 99% of rugby fans(according to your reliable stats, no doubt) should, oooh i dont know, get over it?
How long ago was the decision made? I think a few major world events have occurred since.
So rather than bag the decision which, may I remind you, HAPPENED A LONG TIME AGO, do you think maybe you and the other 3 people who have a problem with it could just support the game you claim to care about?
And we both know my 99% was not to be taken literally. Obviously their isn't a study that's been done.
But the point is there, nobody outside of New Zealand actually wants New Zealand to host it. You know it's true.
That's not an attack on New Zealand, it's fucking reality. What's the point in having it in NZ when you can't logically afford it and you're already mad for rugby? It does nothing to help rugbys growth.
I think that its a good thing Japan didn't get the cup.
The idea of spreading the game is noble but in my opinion 2011 was too soon for Japan, they aren't strong enough as a team yet. If they had been given the tournament they had no realistic shot at winning more then one game.
Seeing the home nation get mauled in such a way could actually be harmful for the sport. turning potential fans away.
The Top League in Japan is improving every year, another positive is that they can claim foreigners for the national side under residency. The Japanese union has been sneaky also recruiting teenagers from the pacific.
Furthermore, Japan has been added to the Pacific Nations Cup where they get to play international caliber sides every week.
Add all this together and by the time 2019 rolls around they will be genuine quarterfinal contenders. Thats when they should be given the tournament.
Did you read through both my comments properly? im all for Japan getting the go ahead eventually, but they are on the brink of becoming a truely competitive side. Give them a few more years to sort their shit out.
You speak of how much the game will catch on by them merely hosting the event, imagine the buzz around asia if they made the quarter finals!
They don't have to make the quarter finals is the point. They didn't do shit in the football world cup(im not even sure they were in it) and the event was MASSIVE, it's done wonders for the sport.
The boats going to leave the docks soon. Japan wont be there forever. All it takes is some well thought out marketing and development from any of the other big international sports and the Asian market will be locked down.
We could give them the cup now, and there would be minimal growth in asia.
Or we could wait until Japan is a quality side and then give them the cup, they do well in the competition, and the gains are much larger then if they had just hosted it.
Japan isnt going anywhere, Its best to wait until they are strong enough to compete because once they host the tournament once it will be 20 something years before they can host it again
Ive already said 2019, did you read my other comment?
And theres no rush, you cant lock down the asian market! it cant be done.
The situation i think we have avoided is one where Japan hosts the 2011 world cup, gets raped by all comers, but the games still experiences growth in asia.
Then, in 2019 when i predict Japan will be on par with scotland and italy, You cant give them the cup again because they just had it.
And the huge growth from Japan doing well at home will be lost.
Of course you can lock it down, soccer are on the way to doing it.
And i'm not campaiging for Japan to host 2011 World Cup, we've acknowledged they've been robbed of that. I'm campaigning for them to get it in 2015.
You're not using your common sense. For Japan to even get out of the group stage they'd need to be in with 4 shit teams. The chance of the drawing 4 shit teams and going through whether now or in 2019, 2024 is about 500/1
You cant lock anywhere down! even in New Zealand we have more soccer players then rugby now.
And thats exactly my point! at the moment they need 4 shit teams to go through, but in 2019 they will be up to the standard of Italy and the Scots!
Awesome domestic comp + Foreign residency players + Poached teenagers + Pac nations cup where they get regular international standard competition (You saw what good that did for italy) = 2019 World Cup quarterfinalists contenders
It's okay saying it can't be locked down. But in 50 years of promotion what new countries is rugby really popular in? Even in Italy 98% don't even know what rugby is! It's easier to crack open markets than it is practically closed markets. Especially when rugby is run by incompetent cunts who can't even crack open markets most of the time!
And your point is stupid. What makes you think Japan will draw Italy and Scotland? They won't.

How long ago was the decision made? I think a few major world events have occurred since.
So rather than bag the decision which, may I remind you, HAPPENED A LONG TIME AGO, do you think maybe you and the other 3 people who have a problem with it could just support the game you claim to care about?

99%... how come your the only one I know that has a problem with this.
This is the 100th time ive had to reply to one of you comments.
On almost every vid ive seen you on, your always critizising NZ or Aus about something...
Why? Do you have a problem with the countries?
I'm not trying to start a fight, maybe it should have been hosted in Japan. But their time will come.
but please don't put up false statistics and exaggerate. You do it too much.

Or maybe you only choose to notice my comments when they happen to be directed at New Zealand?
On the contrary, as i've told you before, I have no problem at all with New Zealand or Australia.
The issue is rather you taking everything i say as an attack on NZ or Australia as countries, when it isn't that at all.
If I was a Kiwi I'm sure plenty of English people would say I'm Anti-English on the basis of some of the comments i leave on Youtube lmao.

It's a bad decision and you know it.

Raawr77 2 years ago
I disagree completely. If Soccer can host a world cup there then rugby can.
Hosting Rugby in japan would only raise awareness and increase the standard of play there.
You're looking for a negative that doesn't really exist.
Japan have proved their worth in major sporting events.
Giving the WC to New Zealand or even England does nothing for the game at all.
z0mgrugbyisback 2 years ago
Did you read through both my comments properly? im all for Japan getting the go ahead eventually, but they are on the brink of becoming a truely competitive side. Give them a few more years to sort their shit out.
You speak of how much the game will catch on by them merely hosting the event, imagine the buzz around asia if they made the quarter finals!
Raawr77 2 years ago
Well how long do you want to wait lmao?
They don't have to make the quarter finals is the point. They didn't do shit in the football world cup(im not even sure they were in it) and the event was MASSIVE, it's done wonders for the sport.
The boats going to leave the docks soon. Japan wont be there forever. All it takes is some well thought out marketing and development from any of the other big international sports and the Asian market will be locked down.
z0mgrugbyisback 2 years ago
On top of that, you're offering no opposition option in the argument of where it should be hosted.
It's all well and good playing down the idea of Japan having it, but when you have no logical alternative to Japan your argument doesn't hold up.
Giving it to New Zealand is a waste of time. Giving it to England is a waste of time. Giving it to South Africa is a waste of time.
Growth is the goal. Hosting in established rugby nations is nothing but time wasting and greed from the cunts in suits.
z0mgrugbyisback 2 years ago
My arguement is anywhere but japan. SA, NZ, England, doesnt matter.
minimal growth now? or massive growth in future?
Raawr77 2 years ago
But that isn't an argument because there's no sense to anything you're saying lmao.
How is passing the World Cup between the old nations going to grow anything?
If anything it'll only strengthen the sport within our countries and help to keep the gap between the old and emerging nations.
There's no logic in anything you're saying.
z0mgrugbyisback 2 years ago
There is logic, think about it.
Raawr77 2 years ago
Ive already said 2019, did you read my other comment?
And theres no rush, you cant lock down the asian market! it cant be done.
The situation i think we have avoided is one where Japan hosts the 2011 world cup, gets raped by all comers, but the games still experiences growth in asia.
Then, in 2019 when i predict Japan will be on par with scotland and italy, You cant give them the cup again because they just had it.
And the huge growth from Japan doing well at home will be lost.
Raawr77 2 years ago
Of course you can lock it down, soccer are on the way to doing it.
And i'm not campaiging for Japan to host 2011 World Cup, we've acknowledged they've been robbed of that. I'm campaigning for them to get it in 2015.
You're not using your common sense. For Japan to even get out of the group stage they'd need to be in with 4 shit teams. The chance of the drawing 4 shit teams and going through whether now or in 2019, 2024 is about 500/1
z0mgrugbyisback 2 years ago
You cant lock anywhere down! even in New Zealand we have more soccer players then rugby now.
And thats exactly my point! at the moment they need 4 shit teams to go through, but in 2019 they will be up to the standard of Italy and the Scots!
Awesome domestic comp + Foreign residency players + Poached teenagers + Pac nations cup where they get regular international standard competition (You saw what good that did for italy) = 2019 World Cup quarterfinalists contenders
Raawr77 2 years ago
It's okay saying it can't be locked down. But in 50 years of promotion what new countries is rugby really popular in? Even in Italy 98% don't even know what rugby is! It's easier to crack open markets than it is practically closed markets. Especially when rugby is run by incompetent cunts who can't even crack open markets most of the time!
And your point is stupid. What makes you think Japan will draw Italy and Scotland? They won't.
So your point doesn't exist.
z0mgrugbyisback 2 years ago
i can't beliueve im doing this and talking about soccer but bro, how much better are Italy than Scotland?
