  • Hi, listen i my self am a video editor but unfortunately do not have enought spare time for this sought of thing while making the dvd's of these stories so when i find things like this, it's just a gem.

Rest assured that i will use this in the dvd and you will be credited.

and thanks for the clip of ben flipping the switch i did not even know that clip existed so i will use that also in the animation free copy.

    thanks again!

  • I know the best way to redo this but it would be expensive and time consuming..what you do is re-film new actors miming (but acting well) to the original soundtrack.. but here is the brilliant bit.. all the actors would be wearing prosthetics to look like the original actors.. then finally the whole thing is rotoscoped in full colour exactly like the film "A Scanner Darkly". Have a look at clips of the film "A scanner darkly" and compare that in stlye to "telesnaps".

  • what's the episode where the Dalek becomes friends with two Daleks? They're like children..

  • @DavrosTheKaled Evil of the Daleks

  • please make a full one. looks awesome!

  • themindrobber should be given large amounts of money to complete the reconstructions of ALL missing episodes.

  • love it at the end, the daleks eye gets a hard-on, experminate, experminate

  • Reconstructions are our best bet now for lost episodes that are unlikely to be recovered (cursed junking) and this looks really promising. But it wouldn't be possible without the telesnaps and audio recordings (a thousand blessings on the fans who made those!).

  • I suggested two or three years ago on the Missing Episodes website that the best way to rebuild the lost DWs was to 'animate the telesnaps'. I explained very carefully what that meant - in essence, precisely what you have done, used the snaps as a basis for photo realistic animation. I was sneered at and told I was dreaming. Yet another example of a truism - that most of the people on that site are arrogant dimwits with no vision. Unlike your good self, sir.

  • One of my favourite clips of the recons that you have done. Nice work!

  • It truely is a shame, it would be well within their power to reconstruct the show with the mass of Jon Cura Telesnaps, sure ud see the obvious 3d but it'd be great to see our favourite stories ressurected to life via modern technology

  • I am not sure The bbc or Restoration team would attept it sadly , its a superb story .

  • Do you think the BBC will reconstruct the Power of the Daleks in amination?

  • All four episodes? We can't have them all in cartoon by Cosgrove. We should get the Boys that handle CGI effects at the BBC to Lip sync and make it look realistic.

  • Best and most promising recon I have ever seen. It suggests great promise for the future in reconstructing these missing gems.

  • would you ever make a whole story?

  • Wow that was really great. I think a lot of fans would love to see the lost episodes this way and with the current state of digital technology and the proper stills and illustrations the results would be awesome. Nice Job!!!

  • Bloody fantastic, why can't the BBC employ guys like you to do more reconstructing, a lot of people have done reconstructions on U Tube and a lot of them are really excellent, they will never be able to release this story without a full recon, down to £ again I suppose

  • The only thing that would require some little improving is the 'lip speech'. The moving bodies is great too; maybe a little improvement.

    For the rest, well done.

  • Good job mate! ;)

  • Superb.Must be one of the better of the Troughton stories.Very much doubt they will find this classic.Would love someone to discover even just one episode....better still the whole six episodes,{wishfull thinking].

  • Just fantastic. Very impressive considering it's from a bunch of old photos. A minor miracle.

  • that theme without the baseline is on the doctor who classic series website

  • It is? Where abouts?

  • @ejl1000 Where on the site is this theme?

  • @DoctorD279 God you replied to my comment 3 years later... I haven't been on the site in a very long time :O

  • @ejl1000 Yeah, stupid me didn't look at when you posted that. Apologies

  • @DoctorD279 It's fine. Easy mistake :L I wish I could help, but I haven't been on in along time. It might have changed.

  • where did you get the theme without the baseline?

  • Mindrobber have you ever been approached?

  • By whom? Ladies at parties? Never. Funny that.

  • That's excellent. I'd love to see more.

  • Very well done there.

  • Fucking brilliant. Why does Troughton sway like that though? (Otherwise it's nice. I do agree with the other poster though, you need to dirty up the Dalek!)

  • I'm in general awe of all of your work!!

  • Nice work. My only suggestion would be the Dalek is a bit too "clean", and doesnt match the "grungey" video quality of the original footage. Might need a bit more filtering in post. Nevertheless, well done. This might be the answer to all those missing scenes.

  • Excellent stuff. I particularly like the way the Dalek comes out of the shadawed interior.

  • ok Wow :)

  • brill.

  • If some of the BBC could do that as well as you can (very, very well) then they could remake stories.

  • I thought the Dalek gun recon (from Power) was the most realistic recon scene... then The Chase... but you've outdone yourself again with non-CGI characters. Great work! If only the BBC had half your motivation!

  • that is so good

  • really is superb i tip my hat

  • Out of interest, how long did this take to make?

  • Hard to estimate, but it took about two weeks working most days after work, although sometimes I'd only get a few minutes done, or occasionally I spent the whole evening on it.

  • SOOOO Cool - Shame that story is missing cos prob one of the best ever but I think you've really brought it to life!

  • kickass

    are you using crazy talk???

i love this... i really do

  • No, not Crazy Talk, it's all done using real videoed mouth movements mapped onto a 3D object of the characters.

  • MORE!!!!

  • Like it it a lot. Most impressive.

  • holy crap!!! i thought i was watching the real thing!!! when troughton was moving

  • Bloody genius, that's all I can say.

  • Yes the hat is correct. I used telesnaps as the foundation for the sequece to make it as close to the original image as possible so it's very authentic.

  • Was Patrick really supposed to be wearing that hat?

    Nice yet again robber

  • This is fantastic! I like the fact that as well as just adding a CGI Dalek into a still picture (as with your previous scene, good though it was) you've made the scene really come alive both by giving motion to the Doctor and Ben, using zoom effects and even adding lights to elements of the background. I really think you've cracked it and that this is the way forward!

  • Sorry Ashely I accidentally hit "remove" on your other comment! Nothing personal! I render both the Dalek and Doctor & Ben in 3DS MAX, but they are done separately, with the Dalek on a blue background so that it can be chromakeyed in later. It's easier to assemble afterwards than try to get all the timing right in a single render.

  • fantastic and your website gets better and better
