  • @artchred that is hands down the worse argument I have heard ever. There is literally no validity to anything you said. I'm pretty sure deep down you know that lmao...

  • i want one.....i want one......i waaant one..

  • This is just a fun machine not an actual automobile... These Test are stupid.

  • @Artchred it is an automobile. ur just an idiot. u can drive the atom v8 on the road. if u can drive it, its a fucking automobile. because the engine is used to power the wheels. anything that ammounts to that is an automobile. go out and buy one for urself then go write ur stupid opinions elsewhere.

  • @666Superbeast666 - FIrst of all let me quickly point out your idiotic youtube username LOL.... Second... Its not a "car" you can't drive this as a daily driver, Nor will you survive a n impact with this so called Automobile. Its a Go Cart on steroids, thats all. Not an automobile.

  • Ya street legal

  • Ha HA!

  • Road legal?

Where is the front number plate?

  • @KalEl600rr In some places you don't need a front plate.

  • All I could hear is that LFA purrrrrrrrrrrr

  • this was rubish get the race with murchilago and lfa and atom

  • gokart

  • i need this car to function in life.

  • I love how 3L is a very big engine, my 4.7L must be like a big block to them :)

  • @6speeddakota The size of the engine isn't everything, your 4.7 probably doesn't pump out 500bhp. Some american cars have huge engines which only produce something like 200bhp and then there's something like Evo8, it has 2L engine which produces 400+ bhp.

  • @Sivosam it was just a joke, its all about torque with a truck engine, I don't need my pickup to do 200 mph, just tow 7400 lbs

  • @6speeddakota why the hell are you talking about trucks? get the hell outta here..

  • @Sivosam for the american, that's what they believe in, displacement, since they dont have high technology, and superior design, displacement is the only thing they have. they even fool themselves with this quote " there is no replacement for displacement" F1 cars only 2400 cc

  • Glad james may did 0-100-0 not a standard top gear drag race, because that realy realy showed what power to weight ratio means!!!

  • HAHA 3:02

  • Nice glasses

  • its a alien

  • is this thing street legal in america? and how much is it?

  • Does he says ''WTF'' at 0:56

  • @Legofan1401 God above!

  • Chhf5

  • still, roofs are nice.

  • He looks like Mr Toad in that car

  • never heard of a 3.0 v8.. more like a tiny v6

  • @1500pantera Never? Did you not watch the video? It clearly exists.

  • @1500pantera It's pretty much 2 x inline 4 cylinder bike engines bolted together in a V shape. However you will find even smaller V8 such as the an F1 engine which is a mere 2.4litre V8

  • SHASSY?

  • @ten8goa chassis

  • @ten8goa Thats how we say it in the UK, the word is of French origim meaning 'Frame'

  • Over 9000!!!!

  • Top Gear's 2012 YouTube Resolution: 1) Start posting in 1080p! (please)

  • batmans go cart

  • wow that was impressive, though i don't know how much he would be mocking them if it rains

  • @NASAvsPETE1 Sadly now owned by VW, the Audi R8 is the same as the gallardo.

  • the lambo is from GERMANY sorry captain slow.

  • @NASAvsPETE1 Lamborghini is Italian...

  • @Mthtmty Italian brand German Parenting (Volkswagen)

  • 1:16 IT'S OVER 900 !

  • Hah lol, he almost made that white car crash.

  • Comment removed

  • lol if the atom went any faster james's hear would have ripped out.... lol

  • 6 people spent way too much to get their jollies

  • Comment removed

  • lol the laugh at the end is the best

  • I'll take that LFA instead though because I can actually use it everyday under any weather condition.

For the tracks though, that Ariel Atom will dominate every time.

  • Ariel Atom V12 here we come.

  • James May looks pretty cool with some goggles and gloves.

  • it would be sick if they put a v12 engine on that!!

  • james may does look like a spaniel :D

  • Why don't they make one with a basic clip on canopy? It would probably only add 50kg and you could use the car all the time.

  • VS F1?

  • Caparo T1 is better I feel.

  • So I buy this and cheat IRL?

  • 0:50 EPIC FACE!

  • @TheRooster94 ... old wild and free

  • @TheRooster94

    0:59 is a bit more epic :D

  • Yeah i guess he mocks them! that is until it starts to rain! then both lambo & lexus will be HA HA! & Dry!!!

  • james may says that clarksons taste is "flabby" XD

  • Still slower than a bike that costs 90% less. *YAWN*

  • @ginganz13 the original Atom beat a bike 'round the track.

Now, it is Top Gear, and thus somewhat staged, but still

  • @hejjagedu - round 'that' not 'the' track - If the Atom does a 17 minute lap of the TT I'll eat a can of dog food.

Round 'that' track the difference was so small compared to the price it was embarrasing.

On 'the road' the cars performance is pointless - stuck in traffic -

  • @ginganz13 the correct grammar is 'the track' when you know which one you're referring to.

If I would stand by it and point at it, I would use 'that track'.

  • @hejjagedu - No it is not because it is assumptive and generalised. The Atom vs Motorcycle has been done twice by Top Gear. 'The Track' can also mean circuit racing in general, any circuit. If you know which one you are refering to you are 'pointing at it' hence the need to clearly state the difference between any track and 'that' Top Gear circuit.

Even if it was faster round every circuit the car would still be 'slower' than the bike.

  • @ginganz13 Sure, bikes have a power to weight ratio which gives them epic acceleration and it's true that once the rider has got it leaned over they have apex speeds just as high as a car but every time I see car vs bike on youtube car always wins due to superior stability, braking and ability to change direction. Plus in a car you haven't got to dress up like a power ranger to drive it and nobody I know has ever fallen out of their car whilst driving.

  • @mrcoogs86 "Subaru Isle of Man TT Record Attempt" - Watch the 'stability' on Bray Hill going 30mph slower than the bikes LOL - The final lap time isn't just a bit slower - its embarrassing. Comparable cars cost >10x as much - they're a wet dream for most arguing about them and they still get stuck in traffic.

Riding bikes takes a lot more skill and carries more risk - Clarkson is living proof that $ don't really compensate a lack of ability managing either.

  • @ginganz13 It's a cool vid and he did nearly bin the car. Thing is though that Subaru wasn't the ideal car to challenge the record in. It's only geared/poweered to 160mph (ish) so would have spend loads of time flat out on its rev limiter in top gear, this would have wasted loads of time, plus 4WD on a dry circuit? A car with a higher top end such as Nissan GTR or a race spec Porsche would have faired better, As for value for money I cant really argue. £10k bikes will always out-drag £100k cars!

  • @mrcoogs86 I was there in 1990 when Russel Brookes went round in his 600hp Manta with slicks - they only just cracked 100mph average - same as the 125s slower than the 400 production bikes. The BIG problem for faster cars is staying on the road - the amount of time spent airborne is a serious problem, the reason rally cars are better suited for large parts of the course. The mountain is all about power/weight the GTR is too heavy.

  • All I need is this and a blue heeler, and I will be ready for post apocalyptic,

    fuel-less outback Australia.

  • The British makes the most awsome cars!

  • This is the ultimate driving machine! Would been interresting To do some other disciplines with those 3 cars. And it would even be more interresting if there was the other atoms (160HP and supercharged 300HP) also in the field.

I bet, the 160HP atom would stand somewhere beneath the Lambo and the Atom300 would stand beneath the Lexus... And then compare the prices... ;-)

    WELL DONE, BRITHISH EMPIRE!!

  • I liked the one with the k20.

  • I need this. I cannot function in life without it.

  • Now bring on the V12 Atom.

  • @PastafariansWON nah, W16 quad-turbo sounds better

  • @PastafariansWON YES!

    Something like a 3,5l V12 twin turbo,

    around 700HP and about 600kg...

I wanna see the 1:1 power / weigth ratio,

with driver and full filled gasoline included !!!

I guess, it will soon be possible to beat a F1 car with a street legal supercar, because:

F1 reglementations are so hard (dimensions, weigth, security, engine dimensions (no charged engines allowed!) max.RPM and much more), it's definitly much easyer to build a street legal supersportcar... ;-)

  • DANGGGGGGG THAT IS FASTTT!!!

  • From beginning to end you can see his hairline receded

  • HORSE POWER IS OVER 900!!!!

  • @axes2t2 it's horsepower per tonne.. so it's actually about 450-500 hp

  • WANT A GO IN ONE?? HU?!

my dad has one and if you want a go, just ask!! 

  • it humiliated the other cars (even with capt. slow driving) awesome car !

  • You can tell they're British. Here in the US, a 3.0 engine is tiny

  • @Blimp19986 So what? We kill those HEMIs of yours with our tiny engines.

  • @Solarisdj and your point is? Hemi is a junk engine and I was simply stating that a 3.0 here in the US is tiny.

  • @Blimp19986 and the chassis of that car ways less then a sport bike

  • ... what about if I put my 355 allmotor WHP H22A into my gokart ...

  • 1:42 nos?

  • @ihaveaweirdnameinc Fire extinguisher, I think.

  • Jame May just beaten Lexus and Lamborghini... HOW EMBARASSING!!!

  • @Exalmer It's not Jame it's James..ThankYou.

  • @Exalmer put a TT in the lambo and bye bye Atom or just take the elemento sesto

  • @TheBienpro ya but we're talking bout this video... not "What If..."

  • @Exalmer the atom is not a real car, you can't consider it.

  • @TheBienpro 4 wheels, engine, seats, steering wheel, windshield, lights, etc yep it's a car. you really don't know what catigorizes a car do you.

  • @dmayfield2 An F1 has 4 wheels, engine, seat, steering wheel, windshield and lights but it's not a car too. You're dumb. It's like saying a T-rex is a car

  • @TheBienpro It is a "real car" according to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

  • @SteelCityDucati you know what I mean, stop being foolish

  • @Exalmer james* and he was the Stig for over i believe 5 years?

  • are these street legal? and how much do they cost? :P

  • @TJDeadkid Yes they're street legal. This one costs a little less than $45,000

  • The speech at the end is the best !!! Ha ! Ha !!

  • perfect car for street racing

  • What is the song at 0:50

  • Dear Santa...

  • how much is this one?

  • James may the Spaniel.

  • OMG my dad has one of them in orange and it is FICKING amazing. I love going fast but this really does make me want to slow down... They are amazing !!! X X XD

  • That superleggera stopped so far from that LFA they shoulda used the Murcielago

  • Hahahahaaa ooohhhohhhhhoooo!

  • May. James MAY 007

  • Ariel atom= car or rocket? :))

  • I'm actually impressed at how well the Lexus performed.

  • What an amazing job!!!! How many of us can just look at all those super cars and walk by them and just shrug our shoulders...... LUCKY!!!!!!!

  • Its all fun and games until it starts raining...

  • @ShaiqNBaiq5464 I´ll be happy showing up in this, more wet than your girlfriend.

  • @denfulacykeln Im sure anything is better than your bicycle

  • @ShaiqNBaiq5464 yeah, i guess it is.

  • @ShaiqNBaiq5464 why would you take this car out in a rainy day?

  • @lovestospooge314 Im looking at it in a utilitarian light. Like if you could only own one car. If its a weekend toy then yeah I would never take it out in the rain.

  • @ShaiqNBaiq5464 you don't want to drive any of those cars in the rain no

  • @dmayfield2 I dont want to drive any of those cars in the rain no

  • James actually WON a race.

  • awsome ending xD

  • Love the Goggles!

  • @sockshare14 or maybe they like a roof on there cars

  • @sockshare14 Lovely bit of casual homophobia there.

  • THIS CAR IS AWESOME, I WANT ONE.

Also has anyone ever noticed that May's shirt is awesome? I'm pretty sure he's had it since series 7 at least. haha

  • @deandelsol HAHAHAHAHA !!!!!! I Think he also used it in one his documentaries !!!!!!

  • DO WANT. 'Nuff said.

  • he was about to lose but he stop so he lost

  • @MrDel987 Really? Are you special? The race was 0-100 and then 100-0. The atom OBVIOUSLY got to 100 first and then the rest of the demonstration was to show how much better the braking is due to its weight....................................Really? Come on.......

  • @84W201 dude lets get serious, of course i know welding two engines isn't an easy job, and i'm aware of all of the other modifications u've got to do.

only u can imagine someone thinkin "you can just weld two engine blocks together".

  • dude look at the brakes on the LFA!!! apparently slower to a 100 or maybe the camera angle but stops so much better then the Gallardo

  • i want tht car :)

  • DAMN i love Lexus LFA! hehe

  • The only thing the LFA and Gallardo can mock back The atom is that in an event of a rain....

  • @supersayianz the atom can outrun the rain :)

  • I wanted the original atom so much. And then I saw this...

  • @lolliepop90 There's a new turbocharged 650 BHP Ariel Atom.

  • @rvind92g Sweet.

  • And when it rains or you show up to pick up your girlfriend in the Ariel she'll say, "So where's the rest of the car?"

  • @Adrianmgs97 I love how American's made the engine in that car..... NOT EUROPEANS. It's a Hartley V8 made in Wisconsin... the land of cheese. Please, enjoy courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.

  • @ferrarif1360 oh sorry really, my error, i recognize Hartley, an american firm, makes this engine........hmmm.........however, i believe it's two Hayabusa 4 cylinder engines welded together.........hmmmhmmmmm.......yeah right

oh and for the cheese?? I hope u've heard of the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Italy ;)

    :)

  • @Adrianmgs97 You are not wrong. Twin Hayabusa engines mated for a fabulous and interesting sounding engine. Believe me when I say that Euro Cheese is far superior to Wisconsin Cheese. If you look up cheese head Wisconsin on google, I think you'll understand what I mean.... It's freakin funny.

  • It seems like comparing two apples with a banana to me, completely different cars. Anyway overall juicy video :D

  • Alllllllriiight, I'm going to have to report this video. Porn isn't allowed on youtube

  • @Jdoug92 Well.... if you look on the suggested videos....

  • "Look how the cottage industry supercar mocks the empires! HA HA."

  • so when Cpt. Slow was under braking, did the wind from the passing Lambo make him jitter like that? Or was it the powerful brakes.

  • The LF-A's engine changes RPM's so fast they had to fit a digital tachometer, an analog one wouldn't keep up, and the Atom, for like half the cost, passes it up....

  • @sockshare14 Now there's two. They can cuddle.

  • The Lexus LF-A makes the best sound.

  • He looks like Mr Toad from wind in the willows when he driving that

  • 1.15.1

  • thats just mean two the supercars they didnt have a chance

  • Now it needs a V12 and everything completely made of carbon fiber

  • HOW THE F can a naturally aspirated engine which displaces only 3 litres produce 500 hoorse power ?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @111danish111 It is 2 suzuki hayabusa superbike engines stuck together.

  • @AlexDeese @AlexDeese So I looked up that engine is a 1.35 L 4-stroke inline-four, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 16-valve, compression ratio 12.5: which produces 197 hp which is staggering really considering the enging in Honda Civic Si produces same power but its pistons displace 2.4 litres (perhaps its the high compression ratio of tha hayabusa engine ??) !!! So I can still cannot understand how does 2 of these engines with V configuration produce 500 hp with only 3 L of room !!! HELP Someone please !

  • @111danish111 believe its because of the revs. A hayabusa engine can rev to atleast 10K rpm where as the civic engine revs to 5K rpm

  • @pyadlapalli the Civic Si and Civic Type R engines rev close to 8k or 9k rpm !!! . According to wikipedia the Civic Mugen RR has a 2 L engine with 240 hp at 8,000 rpm and 161 lb·ft torque at 7,000 rpm . Regular japanese version 222 hp at 8,400 rpm and 159 lb·ft torque peaking at 6,100 rpm . So fairly high revving engines . However extracting 500 hp from 3 L V8 is just staggering without the use of forced induction !!!!!!!!
