@iwan13 How does me not recording some loose pencils on the main figure (the robots I laid in off the top of my head at the marker stage) change the fact it is a quick sketch? It's definitely not a laboured drawing like my regular Marvel work, or any of my detailed private commissions; It didn't take anywhere near as long, and doesn't have the line quality of my more finished drawings. This is an example of the sketches I do at conventions, i.e. convention sketches.
I improvised it... but the idea of having a robot there was the clearest idea in my head, even if I didn't know exactly what it looked like until I got to the inking stage, if that makes any sense.
Ay man this has to be one of the best wolvie drawings ive seen yet, do you think you could give a few pointers to a rookie who's trying to get into the comic book industry?also if you have the time please check out some of my art, i would be honored.
oh and by the david this is no way meant as an insult, i met you many years ago when i was working for disney and you got your first image gig(or was it top cow) any way it was meant to be a joke but after seeing some of the other dumdarses comment i thought i better clear it up. the claire bennet speed painting is amazing as well dude. what's on the horizon for you?
Thanks, and hey no offense taken. As you've seen, I've received comments which are phrased much worse .
As for what I've got coming up... I have a short story I pencilled and inked in X-Men Divided We Stand #2, out next week.
I can't really divluge details on the other stuff I have in the pipeline just yet, but I'm several issues deep on another project I'm doing at Marvel. I'm also doing some illustrations in another book for them, and have a couple of covers lined up too.
This was actually a con sketch someone requested, that's why I refer to it as a sketch. I didn't have time to do it at the con, and they had to leave anyway, so when I got home I sketched it out and then grabbed the markers (and obviously the camera) to finish it off.
When I do these con sketches I don't really define each individual process. When I'm doing finished pencils for work I tend to differentiate each process, because I'm completing a whole drawing in one medium, if that makes sense.
I have just begun getting back into art on a serious level.Wolverine has been my goal to draw ever since I picked up the first issue with Omega Red and that was in first grade ! your style takes me back !
"cheesebugers" you fucking dick the guy you are calling a tracer draws for marvel comics you cock head. and whats with the jew comment man people like you is whats wrong with the world.
Yeah, it's funny how people like 'CheeseBugers' mistake the outline of my pencil drawing for something I'm tracing. I mean if I was going to flat out trace something, I'd put the art board on a lightbox so I could see what I was doing, especially when working on 260 g/m² Bristol board, like I was in this video.
I don't know what's funnier the fact you are too lazy/stupid/illiterate to read the description... or that you think I'm Jewish... or was that meant to be a lame attempt at an insult?
I did art all through school, got a BA in Visual Arts, and the comic thing I've always sort of done on the side since I was about 15. Also trained under one of my fave artists Whilce Portacio.

It's not really a sketch if you laid down the pencilwork first...

Awful music? I don't hear any.
davidyardin 2 years ago
I think that's the new thing... They put ads on people's clips for songs. But you don't know about it nor do you get paid. I may be a random thing.

I have one question tho. That robot dude in the background? Did you have a pencil sketch in there already, or did you just improvise that in inks?

I improvised it... but the idea of having a robot there was the clearest idea in my head, even if I didn't know exactly what it looked like until I got to the inking stage, if that makes any sense.

dude just wondering it says wolvey sketch but you obviously have your rough pencils under it, you can see em, shouldn't it be wolvey clean up?

The best exercise is to draw, draw, draw.
I did art all through school, got a BA in Visual Arts, and the comic thing I've always sort of done on the side since I was about 15. Also trained under one of my fave artists Whilce Portacio.
