And after the guy yelling "Im gonna die" you see a guy running out on fire! @ about 6:18. His head and upper body engulfed in flames. Iv never seen this footage. This was the most horrific club tragedy ever. There should be a proper memorial!! I didnt realize it has been 9 years ago this month, was just thinking about it.
At 6:08, looking at the doorway behind the railing, you hear a man yell "I'm gonna die" and see him waving his arm in the air helplessly. So heartbreaking.
I just remember the smell, it was not a regular fire smell, I remember an off duty WWFD told me it was the smell of bodies burning. I will never get the sound of his voice out of my head, I try not to go near Cowesett Ave when I go home to RI.
how fucking hard is it to design a building with doors that open OUTWARDS. imagine, a horde a screaming, panicked people pressing against a door that opens inwards. fucking chaos.
the woman screaming 'where's my husband!?!' as the cameraman is leaving(1:30 of the video) absolutely haunts me. I've seen this video many times over the years and it still chokes me up.
this is a disaster like the Bradford Football Disaster. Just watch how fast it grew. And there are some shitheads of footballfans cheering about it. At 05:48 a man completly on fire... just have a look... this man will not survive, I'm sure. Just because he wanted to see a fuckin football game... My personal soundtrack is the song "slow death" from the band "Leather Nun". Chorus: "90 % burns but 55 hours to live.....a-a-a-a-a-ahahahah". Just try it. It will give you the creeps.
@anonymous133711 Think of an hour glass or a corked wine bottle. The people were being pushed from behind and that pressure cuased the bottle neck. The design of the doorway was to blame also. The door was half the size of the hallway leading to the exit. I dont mean to sound like an ass, but I think most of those people we see had no chance of getting out unless the people in the back stopped pushing.
Man this was horrible, God bless those people. RIP.
I think that guy was one of the heroes who tried to pull out as much people as they could and then got a victim himself by accident, didn't noticed that the fire caught him already. Adrenalin and the fear of loosing someone can give you a rush of power. It's so sad what happened there...
As horrible as this is to watch, people need to have access to this information in order to prevent future tragedy. After showing this at my University, event planners decided not to hold the events in areas where people would be grouped together with limited access to exits. Other events that were to include candles were adjusted so that open flames were not used as decorations...all because this video was so convincing. Pictures sometimes speak louder than words...we needed this video.
@Phidias1971 I abdolutely agree..and it's awful how all of this could have been prevented. If you look between the railings at 5:57 you can see the people who were stuck in the doorway being consumed by flames...
The first 60sec yes I agree but not the next ten minutes that time could of been put to better use surely no one would disagree with that! And he wasn't thinking about helping with the investigation he was thinking about his career!
There is a guy in a white top who was a true hero he was pulling people out of the windows to the left of the doorway he must of save ten to twenty lives hats of to that man!!
The guy filming would not put his camera down for a second to dial 911! But put it down to dial his news team thats bad! So many more people could of and should of been saved! This is a very disturbing film and worrying to think that people do not care enough about one another, where is the love!!! I would of killed myself trying to get people out of that door way and I would of shoved that camera up that mans arse!
@TheSarahxjx 911 wouldn't have helped they were already burned alive by the time the firetrucks got there. He should have ran around and busted some windows to help get people trapped in the black smoke . Im sure many of them did not know where to run in the dark smoke So traggic
@TheSarahxjx There was really no purpose for him to call 911 when there were so many people there probably doing the same thing. As inappropriate as it might have been for him to have not put his camera down. Film footage like this was probably used for insurance purposes, lawsuits, criminal charges and possibly fire prevention. I'm from RI and I am shocked this footage leaked online. I don't remember seeing any of this on the news.
@michaelOB1986 I agree on the point that you made about 911, as they were probably being flooded with calls.. I just wanted to say that (i'm sorry if you already know this) the guy who recorded this video was actually filming (about nightclub safety) because of the E2 Nightclub Stampede that happened a few days earlier. He was actually with a local news station. With all the panic and people already trying, I don't think there was a lot more he could have done to help, unfortunately.
Truly horrifying. Look at the person who ran out the front door on fire at the 6:00 mark., and then look at the two people attempting to crawl out the door, while on fire. You won't find me taking upfor the band on this one, and I'm a Great White fan.
In less than about ten minutes the whole place was an inferno...This was sheer stupidity and carelessness on the band / nightclub management's part...There was just no excuse for this tragedy...
I had only heard small details about this fire,...but this footage gives me a brand new perspective on the horror that these people went through. The sight of the two people burning alive in the front doorway,(apparently still trying to crawl for their lives)is something I could only sit through once. But, that wasn't the main thing that turned my stomach. The sight of all those dozens of people standing around watching,as others were stuck in that doorway screaming for help was beyond sickening.
100 dead and at 4:02 this bitch is worried about her god damn hair. At 6:02 the guy in the foreground trying to help with the hoses is the guy who set off the fireworks that started the fire in the first place.
@AESOPPOSEA1 Is that really the guy who set off the fireworks? Wee you there that night? Did you actually see him light the fireworks? I'm ust asking because he looks totally different from the guy who is oding the cases of fireworks on Wikipedia's webpage.
@anahata58 yeah looks like it ... mean while ... people are dying ... she will be known as the ... omg I'm bleeding woman ... too bad someone didn't point out to her she's safe and will live ... that those stuck in the door and still inside are much worse off.
@TheRealRussG she's very lucky. very. considering the amount of people who died vs. the amount of people who were there. my instincts would have kicked in to HELP. i hope she did once she realized she was bleeding!
@anahata58 yeah ... so sad ... just a couple more people at that door way to help pull so many more could have been saved. but at the same time too many in the way trying to help could have made it worse?
And after the guy yelling "Im gonna die" you see a guy running out on fire! @ about 6:18. His head and upper body engulfed in flames. Iv never seen this footage. It's eerie when the cameraman calls "Anybody inside?" at 5:00, and all you see is a silent empty hallway. They were already dead from the smoke.

Band and location management both culpable. More than describing what happened in legalese - the F-er's are blatantly for what happened.
