There aint no scratchin' anymore in hip-hop today, there isn't barely any decent talent left, all there is now is a bunch of talentless losers who couldn't keep rhythm even over a slow beat. Nothin but fucking autotune on everything, even just to rhyme and talk. Are you tellin me nobody has talent anymore, WTF?? It's like they just give anyone a record contract these days, tell them to turn their hat around backwards and say "yo" a lot. Yeah, it has become a fashion, a cheap greedy sucky one.

@rockyatl13 Greed is the main problem drug & violence ruined the true meaning of hip hop i'm a grown up man and i'm still real...PEACE, UNITY, LOVE & HAVIN' FUN That's the hip hop i know and that's why i don't recognize myself in the new school...
@ubeekuitee Exactly. For us hip-hop was about riding the subway at 2:30 in the morning coming home from rockin a house party in someone's basement .It was spending countless hours learning to scratch or practicing new breakin' moves. It was getting together with a couple friends after school or on a weekend to practice rappin' and hear the latest cuts. Taggin' a notebook & creating wicked murals.
@ICUMMUD Oooo..that's right dude. Thanks for pointing that out. You know, I have heard of, but don't think I have yet seen it! No wait, I do have it, just haven't watched it. Isn't it kinda similar to Wild Style?
I still think Flip Roc caned that battle-RockSteady were pound for pound better when they had the true B-Boys like Frosty Freeze, Mr. Freeze, Take One, and the mighty Prince Ken Swift (if they let him off the damn chain!) and even Li'l Lep before he joined NYC Breakers and got paid-but still, this flick was one of the highlights of my teen years (yeah, I'm an original London Hip-Hop head from the 80's!)
hey gjc82071 what about wildstyle and stylewars??? what universe are you in breakin????those movies were gaaaahhbage but you are probably young so ill give it to you but if you wanna learn about real hip hop through movies definitely check out style wars and wildstyle
The reds won by a mile although the main young character of the film was dire yet a cocky piece of crap. Much better film than Breakdance which was too Hollywood.
This song is called breakers revenge oh you should even check out looking for the perfect beat and planet rock those 3 songs are the best old school by afrika bambatta it's the shisniys
At 0:08, I think thats so fucking dope when homeboy jus starts walking out there and circles into a up rock shuffle and start killin it. Classic shit yo even the break dancers now cant touch us cats from the 80's man. We paved that road these snotty ass wack cats who dont even up rock CORRECTLY!
@javibarr bullshit thats not vin diesel ...but this was the real shit NYC! im proud to have come up in this era Boggie Down Bronx!, Bombers,Taggers and Breakers, gave us the art and the culture. Beat Street was the truest representation of the culture accept no imitations. these guys were gods.
@WorldWatcher9 hey well im just saying what he said on the jay leno show and jay leno was making fun of him because jay showed a clip of another one and this one is posted on here too he is showing people how to breakdance you will find it here by typing vin diesel break dancing
@kevzero11 did you type vin diesel breakdancing here on youtube?....anyways i only said it was him because he said it himself. it came out of his own mouth on the jay leno show. i only told you guys what he said. and truly if u look at him it does look like him u can see the big nose right away and the long face.
totally agree man the 80,s were so cool miss em so much but we all getting older have to move with times .. by the way this battle was started and stopped 14 times before they got it right ..
@530649 Where the fuck have you been cunt? Have you been cheating on me again? I've been waiting all night with a jar of vaseline and you never showed WTF!
@run666 hey man good thing you got a chance to atually live the 80s and be there im only 23 so i can only watch movies listen to the music here stories and imagine how great it was. Things do suck now though early 90s were straight then after that music and everything just lost the heart and soul i guess it comes to show you money is truelly the ruler of all evil.
Hello, in my opinion, the 5th to appear in new york city breaker's at minute 2:25 of the video, has a wonderful style, is a breaker's exceptional, greetings.
Not a bad guess...the blue group is called the "Rock Steady Crew" and are the group directly responsible for taking breakdancing into the mainstream public...The red crew are the New York City Breakers who performed on several national stages including for the President of the U.S.
yah...like Lee mother said when she went to pick him up from the police station after the subway dance off.....You arresting these kids for dancing? There's alot worse these kids could be doing. And that's the truth

@1fastmex Cool. Only .avi & or DIVX here. I like to watch'em every now & then, kinda like for "nostalgia", ya know? Maybe play a little Atari after the movie & listen to some cool 80's music while playing. Kinda get the whole "80's" thing happen'n, ya know? BTW, I don't know if your interested, but I found a download for Krush Groove (1985). It's where I got mine & it works fine/decent quality, no viruses. Lemmie know. PS, site also has ALL the movies I listed previously (& more).
@kevzero11 Have you seen it? Anyway, it was produced by Barry Gordy/Mowtown. Although different than regular, straight up 80's "Hip Hop" films, it does sorta fit in that genre. Maybe Hip Hop/Martial Arts? I dunno. I've seen it on a few lists of that genre & added it.
i love this movie the true essense of hip hop music ppl that could really dance and groove they were true artist made their own music they werent drawing gang signs all over buildings but art something that meant something. true djs that were not just pressing one button and playing music they were really working...rappers rapped about REAL things they were talking about something..i love it
Those kids (in Set it Off, and those other rip-offs) are more TRAINED in classrooms (watched Darrin's Dance Grooves), whereas, these kids pretty much trained themselves, on CONCRETE (covered by cardboard) and MATTRESSES!
oh this is so awesome... i remember like yesterday...getting the lino out and the huge ghetto blaster.....grandmaster flash and all that. i love break dance and always will... hey run666 your 1 lucky dude man sounds amazing... may the beats go on
ahh man the historic roxy, i got chills. i wish the younger kids can feel for one nite how it was walking in this club on a sat nite in 83-84. u have no idea how FUCKIN DOPE IT WAS...
yes roxy is a club i think opened in 1979.. i used to go in 1893-84 and after that as well too. it was located at 18th st and 10th ave in manhatten...
the dee jays went off in there playing all the hot beats. one of the dee jays was bambatta ( zulu nation, soul sonic force...)
it was the home of break dancing/break beats and had a lot of cool acts there like soul sonic force ( planet rock), LL cool j, t - la roc ( its yours), RUN-DMc
@run666 I hear you, man. I mean, I know this was only a movie, but art does imitate life. Back then, it looks like people weren't afraid to have a good time and actually looked good doing it. If you ask me, there haven't been any cool dance moves since the early 80's. Early 90's dance moves were just a cheap imitation of this era here. It just seems like after the 80's for the most part, the club scene got more uptight, more phony, and less energizing. I wish now was more like the 80's.
@pjharrison78 EXACTLY!! everything u just said pjharrison78 was ON THA MONEY~~~~!!
rozy was SICKKKK, WE WENT THERE 11PM TILL 3AM THEN WALKED 8 BLOCKS DOWN TO 26TH ST TO THE fuNhoUSe, that was a similar place and was open till 845am...
I remember getting this back in 84 and the soundtrack too. Man this was so cool back then- and still is in my eyes. Got loads of my mates into this too- i can't believe they missed this first time around. Superb clothes, music, dancing, and big names feature too! Beat Street lives on- well it does in my house!
err he was a popper/locker i cant recall him ever breaking (top rock borrom rock) and he was from LA where poppin etc was considered better than NYC where as NYC was where breakin ruled Taco is a legend in his own right though
@shydmples You said it perfectly....that's what I thought looking at this video. Only if we could go back in time when times were better and men had more respect for one another....the greater love of the numbers have cooled completely off!
The Latino bboys were the first to go down on the floor!!! mad creative. much love and respect to all those bboys who showed us the way!!
ORIGINAL hiphop is STILL a beautiful culture...all this new stuff i call pophop with all the gangsterism, the booty girls! but keep an eye out, some leading artists are keeping it original
As you can see the majority of the dancers their are Latino. Latino have always been a force in Hip Hop, but as Hip Hop became mainstream. Latinos are now seen as foreign to this art.
I grew up seeing mad competitions, breakers with mad reputation. Yes I was there and yes we were soldiers!
no doubt...Parkchester in the house my Boriquas/Dominicano's held the floor down.. Rock Steady forever...most of the bothers held down the Electric Boogie...and both was doin it big with Grafitti...and lets not forget Tito of the fearless four...without the combination of the both Hip Hop wouldnt exist...without the BRONX actually....B-boy for life

is roxy a real place then? tell me about it? im intreguid.
potentGS 2 years ago
yes roxy is a club i think opened in 1979.. i used to go in 1893-84 and after that as well too. it was located at 18th st and 10th ave in manhatten...
the dee jays went off in there playing all the hot beats. one of the dee jays was bambatta ( zulu nation, soul sonic force...)
it was the home of break dancing/break beats and had a lot of cool acts there like soul sonic force ( planet rock), LL cool j, t - la roc ( its yours), RUN-DMc

I wish now was more like the 80's.

rozy was SICKKKK, WE WENT THERE 11PM TILL 3AM THEN WALKED 8 BLOCKS DOWN TO 26TH ST TO THE fuNhoUSe, that was a similar place and was open till 845am...

Man....this was the perfect way to settle a battle...a dance or rap contest...not a gun like these punks use today...those were the days.
shydmples 2 years ago 10
@shydmples You said it perfectly....that's what I thought looking at this video. Only if we could go back in time when times were better and men had more respect for one another....the greater love of the numbers have cooled completely off!

The Latino bboys were the first to go down on the floor!!! mad creative. much love and respect to all those bboys who showed us the way!!
ORIGINAL hiphop is STILL a beautiful culture...all this new stuff i call pophop with all the gangsterism, the booty girls! but keep an eye out, some leading artists are keeping it original
wirelessDan 3 years ago
As you can see the majority of the dancers their are Latino. Latino have always been a force in Hip Hop, but as Hip Hop became mainstream. Latinos are now seen as foreign to this art.
I grew up seeing mad competitions, breakers with mad reputation. Yes I was there and yes we were soldiers!
rompesaraguei 3 years ago 2
no doubt...Parkchester in the house my Boriquas/Dominicano's held the floor down.. Rock Steady forever...most of the bothers held down the Electric Boogie...and both was doin it big with Grafitti...and lets not forget Tito of the fearless four...without the combination of the both Hip Hop wouldnt exist...without the BRONX actually....B-boy for life

It's the fact that rap (which is more black, male dominated) excelled over all the other facets of hip-hop (including graffiti)
