No. In reality, even a black hole sitting in empty space would be surrounded by an eye searing haze of light as interstellar gas falls into a black hole from all directions. The depictions of a black hole as a black ball surrounded by a ring are so over simplified they're about as useful as the old pictures showing the brain as a "telephone switching room" full of relays and wires from the 1950s. Any ring structure is simply the bulk of matter falling in, but material falls in from all sides.
Nice. Is this an actual photo of a black hole because (and my learning may be out of date here) I thought a black hole had never been photographed before. This should be major news.
@Oobervice idk if one could.... because if it could get a picture that is, it would be at the point where it would have a few seconds until it was sucked into a pit of nothingness if the pic wasn't sent, it's gone forever. :( black holes terrify me and fascinate me at the time. i hope to get a job as an astronomer and continue studies and maybe get a picture of an actual black hole :) (sry you didn't ask what i plan to do when i get out of school rofl)
they expect us to believe this.
