Unfortunately I don't know about his family (although I did study with a student of his!!!!) ........but I would love to know what is your relation to Brailowsky.
To me, he has always been the greatest.......it was his recording of a Chopin Polonaise (#5) that inspired me to become a serious pianist myself, and I was thrilled to hear him play twice in the late '60's.
And I still remember exactly "where I was" when I sadly learned of his passing in 1976.
trucrypt - for this collection that you have assembled here for youtube music enthusiasts - I thank you! What an education - but I'm afraid that it has caused me to lose much needed sleep already. It's worth it though - a million times over...THANKYOU!!!
This modern piano has the best timbre I've ever heard in trying to capture what is not modern piano music. This performer has a beautiful luminescence and quick-wittiness of phrase. He also has great expressive focus.
THIS GUY DANCES AROUND THE BEAT LIKE WATTEAU DANCED AROUND FORM No Revisionist Modern Establishment tripe here,as he places his notes before,on,& after the perceived down-
This is just as you describe! My remembrance of Brailowsky is from years ago in his Chopin etudes. I thought that he was completely inadequate to the task at hand and I totally dismissed him. I'll have to listen again. Thanks.
He certainly is not imprisoned by the notes,
as many moderns are. This is just superb
music making. It's easy to be drawn into the
world he is creating. When he plays I forget
the other world.

THANK YOU, VERY MUCH , dear Truecrypt.
I have looked for Braylowsky since Youtube entered in my life. He was the first pianist I hear playing Chopin...about
fifty five years ago. YES. In my parents house, in a radio, in a litle, very litle town of Brasil.
After him, came Rubinstein, Horowicz, ashkenazy, van cliburn, and many ,many others. But A.B, SURE, will always in my mind.
