I haven't seen this video in 20 years - amazing you have it! is it possible you have the robin williams part as well and if so, could you make my millenium and post it?
.absolute full on perfection. He is a master artist in playing with human emotion and empathy and anger.you want to hate him but you cant help but love hime.then when you see a jerk get his medicine .when that woman comes up there and wrestles him down, hes willing to get his face rubbed in it.then your like wow he takes you on a full journey.to include revenge,.then you feel bad, then he starts mouthing off again.then he with.If I can make one person happy predictably unpredictable.wow
I favorited this months ago, but haven't watched it for a while. I forgot how great it was. haha. I love the early incarnation of Clifton. I prefer the early version, I think.
I think it's really sad that this has only gotten a thousand odd views. My parents never cared for him but I liked him a lot as a kid. Starting to be interested again. Great vid thanks!
I'm confused. If this really took place in 1977, why did Tony look like that? I mean, Andy and Bob had changed the Tony costume alot by then. U know, with the Pink tux and sunglasses?
@alexintheoutfield Because, like the other guy said, this is Andy imitating Tony. It pissed Tony off and caused him to really hate Andy more than he already did. This is obviously Andy impersonating Tony, not actually Tony.
This is just Andy Kaufman imitating Clifton. It's importnat people know that, he is just making fun of Tony here, and it came back to cause him problems later on.
Ya guys think the two guys that kick his ass at 8:02 were staged too : P??

He went too far on that one, because the female at the end was an obvious stage, even people from 1977 wasn't that naive......

@thefilesofmrx2 They were all staged. Bob was his partner in comedy.

Fascinating. A significantly different version of Tony Clifton yet just as polished, just as sharp.

Dude, Andy and Bob Zmuda created Tony. He wasn't a real person unless one of them dressed up in the costume that Bob designed.
