This is boring. All they do is turning up the overdrive knob and leaving the fingers too long on the damn string all the time, taking the groove away from the song. The rest isn't even worth being called a cover version, it is a copy.

@Kiwigavam Maybe you're right. There is a long wikipedia article on the subject "cover version". At times some of my pupils do a presentation on it. And each time I have to realize that I've forgotten the main facts. Again and again. Because even the theory on cover or remake and citationand so on is boring as long as it doesn't affect you in court. Maybe I just wanted to say sophistically that I don't like this version. But not because it might be played bad, but because there is no surprise.

No, it's not musically GOOD, but it's entertaining. I'm a huge Beatle fan, and it's a lot more refreshing to hear something inventive than to hear the same old thing again. So while I'm not about to swear by the Punkles, it's amusing and creative. Why not?

If by "up to date" you mean overinlfated it, sped up the tempo and took out relativly all meaning from the song in exchange for a cheap punk sound that is the same as every other punk band on the planet...then yes you are right.
