hi chow! ive browsed your videos and it seemed to me you already bought alot of fishes but they're not lasting too long. btw, how often do you do water changes? and you have your clown fish fish for 7 years?
@bacolodish You are unfortunately right, I suspect they all ended up in one of the anemones... sigh. The clownfish had been with me for 7+ years but passed away before I broke the tank down when I moved. Have a new tank now though with no fish disappearing. *knock on wood*
you should be careful with these. they release toxins. i once had one and it wiped out my entire livestock except the blue damsel :( you should use caution when you put it in a reef tank as it ate my favorite featherduster.
I love cowfish! I had one when I was back in the states. We named hyim "Noodle." They have so much personality. Mine would squirt water out of the tank when it was feeding time haha
Yeah, cowfish tend to do that. Mine does that all the time and it's actually kind of annoying. Very cute fish though, my sister's named hers "moomoo" I know... very creative. Beautiful fish though, but they make a huge mess.
Just to jump in here, cowfish are toxic because of an algae they eat in the wild. In the aquarium they are devoid of this and thus their toxins have been depleted. However, they still love to eat.
unfortunately he disappeared after about a month and a half... no body inside or outside of the tank, he just disappeared one day. I am guessing one of the anemone took him... =( No ill effect to the tank, I would definitely try another cowfish in a reef again!
very nice tank, fish and video mate, its helped me decide whether to get 1 or not. I've got the same size tank as you and have been wondering for a while but ive always been off put when i hear about the toxin it can give off. Anyway thanks a lot.
Cool fish! I gave one to my girlfriend for her tank. It's doing great, eating out of her hand and getting bigger fast. Time to start saving for that 400 gallon tank!
dood that saltwater fish is so cool. a lot people say it gives out a toxin and others say thay do not give out a toxin. I also love your corals ther cool.
Sad update, one day the cowfish just disappeared. I searched all over the tank, powerhead intake, outside the tank, next to anemone... etc. Nowhere to be found, which is kind of weird with it's exo-skeleton and all. =( It was doing really well until this happened though. RIP.
i've caught full grown "boxfish" in the bahamas, i had no idea about the whole "toxin" thing, i ate the fish the night i caught it and it was delicious, white meat, similar to lobster. If i would have known about the possible toxins, i would have thrown it back:S...P.S.i love the ocean and all life in it,and i only kill fish i catch when i need dinner P.S.S there so ugly/cute cause they have an exo-skeleton.....
Never knew the "toxin" scare wasnt really applied to them. Thanks for telling, are they reef safe? Im cycling mine now with LR...still thinking about fish to add.
thats a really nice tank. i am just starting up a 75 gallon saltwater, and i am a big fan of the cowfish, but i think i'll wait untill im a bit more experienced to get one
lol its sooo cute

can you have you of these in a 20 gallon nano reef?
MWProductions3 10 months ago
@MWProductions3 Not long term since they get huge, but a baby would fit in there for a couple months.

Yes, it's a common expression that doesn't necessarily denote imediate relation.

that anemone would've died if it consumed the cowfish. Thats odd it didnt last long, mine lived for 7 years
DLFerrariFan 3 years ago
@MokYiChow this happened to mine as well... i was sooo sad. i gave up my giant anemone in order to keep them after that...
