@sherilyn70 If you are familiar with the older versions of Thomas Toys, there is a lot more plastic on the Talking Railway Series. The wooden railway is not so "wooden" anymore. :'(

When u roll the talking railway engine over, Sir Topham Hatt greets them. When u roll a normal wooden train over the same destination, Sir Topham Hatt will say something like: "You are a splendid engine," or: "You are right on time for the parade," without saying a specific name.

Nope - The new vehicles look the same, as the regular wooden railway, except their magnets are gold in color instead of silver. There is also a gold Top Hatt printed on the bottom - to show that they are the new Engine Recognition Technology Vehicles.

When an ERT vehicle goes past one of the new Talking Railway Series destinations, the destination acknowleges the vehicle. There are many phrases to be heard for every ERT vehicle, near any of the Talking Railway destinations.
